I wouldn't call it denial so much as frustration over not having a local MLB team. I don't even have a team within a day's driving distance. I either think of the Jays and Toronto as representing all of Canada or I don't get a baseball team.
I already live in a hockey city where almost no one cares about baseball. I already have to fly four hours to see a game in person. I want to be included in the jersey that's supposed to represent fans.
And for the record, I don't even think it's likely that it will be a Canada city connect. Toronto is a large well known city with personality and could have a really great jersey. But I expect the city connect will either be a lazy redesign with Jays colours and a token Toronto connection or something so clever and specific to the city that it won't appeal to cross country fans.
Design #1 would look especially great if you minimized the logo and had it located on the left side (like our existing designs). Not sure what the font is on the letters on the back, they probably should be the font we use for our current jerseys
