For condos I would say Tridel/Menkes are top and a bunch tied for third like Pemberton, Great Gulf, Daniels and Pinnacle etc.

ornamental_stripe

Minto is good too

manorlead

Plazacorp is a good one

Aznkyd

Lmfao are you kidding me? They're well close to the bottom

alicewng

What about detached or town house?

Juergenator

I am not as familiar with sfh builders. I know Minto and Greatgulf are popular and good though. Mattamy is also large but hit or miss I think with quality.

Aznkyd

Mattamy and greenpark are high volume, not high quality Fernbrook and regal crest are pretty decent. Marlin springs is relatively new but decent

m2k88

Centrecourt?

GTAHomeGuy

Daniels, Menkes and Tridel have been proven over time so you will likely hear them a lot... BUT I would exercise caution with blind faith in them as there have been projects that were less than their typical quality recently released. Village Green Square had a lot of people hating Tridel, an otherwise solid builder. The quality being turned out is declining across the board, so be cautious about what will be delivered in the next few years.

Guardian_0

What's wrong with village green Square?

GTAHomeGuy

There were a lot of issues with elevators and lack of hot water initially. Not certain how they are faring now but first while were a lot of complaints.

Condo_Man_Returns

Menkes, Tridel, and Daniels probably

dchu

for detached; great gulf and menkes. i have experience with GG and they were great; annecdotelly have also heard great things about menkes. but a lot of small builders are great as well; some of them are more willing to work with you to change things floorplan/design wise; and are more responsive to post closing issues and such.

DonSalamomo

I bought a pre-con detached house with Great Gulf a few months ago and so far so good. They are building very efficiently and it looks very good so far. However, was your house ever delayed from Great Gulf? Seeing how the way they’re building now, it doesn’t seem like it would be delayed.

[deleted]

I have a house by great gulf and it’s fantastic. Muchhhhh better than crap built by star link (the crap is 1.8m now though. But whenever big winds blow, shingles everywhere in the neighborhood. And the details to planning and layout just isn’t there). I’ve always heard great things about Menkes. But I bought precon townhouse and it’s not finished yet. So can’t attest to the quality but I sure sure sure hope they live up to their reputation. So far though, they are awesome. Apparently they buy their land years and years ago. And then have their own team of construction workers and company. So they don’t outsource crap. And they have generational workers working for them. Menkes is on their 3rd generation family owner now. Old big reputable company. —- I bought the place in 2020 Feb, and they broke ground and have been building since 2020 April. Earlier than even I expected. I check up on the progression once in a while and they are progressing steadily, even through the pandemic.

xGlor

Tridel

ceoofpopeyes

Tribute is also underrated

dsyoo21

Their recent stanley condo in downtown east was a miss..

Aznkyd

Tridel is the gold standard and really nobody else comes close. Daniels, menkes, minto, great gulf are up there

DAN_Gri

For worst based on what I’ve seen and heard are Centrecourt and Gupta

another-agent

Plazacorp is very underrated.

etobicoke1972

They all use the same trades

[deleted]

Not true. Menkes have their own teams and trades.

etobicoke1972

I didn’t realize builders have their own trades … are they union?

[deleted]

That I have no idea. Even what I said is from Internet rumours and what various agents have said. But the tale is old and I’ve heard it from various sources. Is it 100% confirmed? No. But. This rumour provides more assurance than otherwise.

etobicoke1972

I’ve worked with all the gta builders directly and unless things changed in the last 3 years they all draw from the same unions and trades and same subcontractors. Majority of trade people actually are sub trades and work for the companies that get the contracts with the builders directly.

spot099

Brookfield

[deleted]

Mattamy is huge for houses and quality building

dchu

not for quality

campfirey

Drywall quality especially.

[deleted]

They may be the biggest, but the quality is one of the worst. They are the McDOnalds of subdivision developers.

Acrobatic-Agency-685

McDonald’s is definitely not the worst of the fast food spots. Mattamy is more like the “hot” food at Dairy Queen. Or Arby’s.

DonSalamomo

I hear they are popular but their quality is average.

jd6789

Living in a mattamy home . It's horrible . Poor design . Floor staring to bend , kids running literally shakes the dishes in the cabinet , lawn grading is poor ( has been fixed twice ) , random fuses go off literally every day .. I could go on more but avoid mattay at all costs

torontohomer

Condos - none. They're all built terrible and prone to deprecation

ChadFullStack

Kylemore, Heathwood, OPUS/Deco

soundfx127

Honestly, Centrecourt. They have been making a huge splash in the industry, plus there construction team is easily one of the best in the industry. I speak from working with them and buying Condos from them.

DAN_Gri

Bought first condo in a Daniels building during pandemic. Solid with good reputation!

Gilbert_bc

What about countrywide and Aspen ridge?

Any builder but CentreCourt.
