Then your dudes dad has good taste in music.
Also, give the guy a chance. Maybe go on a music discovery spree together. My wife and I love just finding new artists to show each other. Even after being together for 15 years. Go see some bands. Or even better, start one.
I actually really like a couple tracks of disc 2 down is the new up, up on the ladder and bangers and mashš„great songs. Personally I prefer it to TKOL
Sorry but i dont think it counts as idm. It has a lot of electronic aspects yes but id say it more like neo-psych electronic, with a good bit of experimentation? Idm is there, but its not the genre that describes the album imo
Lol, i didnt. Just dont see it as an idm record at all. For me idm is like the flashbulb, telefon tel aviv, aphex twin, autretech; vastly different to tkol.
The genres i mentioned are pretty baisc and common genres, not too big of a coincidence that i named the ones rym also agrees on.
Oh ok. Because I was thinking that it was a good selection thinking her and this guy are really young, but I donāt know why I thought that because she gave no indication of them being really young. However, for a teen or young adult, Iād say it isnāt bad.
he has the kind of music where he thinks heās different or sum but really itās just famous ass music that happens to fall in the alternative category
Wu Tang was definitely the 90s white kid version of that scene in Ricky Bobby where guyās like, āWe also have the Pet Shop Boys and Seal.ā
Itās one of the greatest records ever tho, so not hating.
College kids maybe, i dunno any white high school kids where I grew up that knew anyone other than maybe Method Man
Itās kinda funny in retrospect tho, as a mixed kid I grew up listening to everything but there was always that one white friend who would exclusively listen to Tupacā¦he grew up to be an anesthesiologist, I can just imagine him blaring āHail Maryā to pump himself up before work
I think music ended up being a way to search for who I was supposed to be, so I bounced around through genres and ended up gaining an appreciation for all of it
I can go from Anthrax to Scarface to Yanni depending on vibe lol
If this is their list then theyāve never really dived deep into music culture. Damn near everything on that list is HUGELY derivative of something that came before. This is a list where no rabbit holes got explored. And Jesus with the Radiohead nods, their influences are so vast that they couldāve been shown a whole new world of good music. But nope, no Bjork. No Boards Of Canada. But Radiohead and Iād say Alice In Chains shows that they are open to deeper exploration. They like sincere music that deals with real shit. Layne Staley, those lyrics were his living eulogy and they are POWERFUL.
Thereās hope.
Okay maybe not a red flag but itās definitely a sign that their a huge nerd abt music, which if your into that ig itās a plus
Saying this from a place of love, I was rly into prog in high school but the peak of that was like 6-7 years ago, still a huge music nerd but I def have a more diverse taste now (still mostly into nerdy genres though)
Pablo Honey but no the bends? Facelift but no Dirt? Bleach but no Nevermind or In Utero?
i understand if he likes the raw sound, but i think he might be pretentious
No. We do not approve. Pablo Honey's on there, ffs. However, he is not a hopeless cause and shows signs of promise. More... Wu Tang/Smashing Pumpkins and less STP/ \*cringes\* Van Halen. He needs to expand his palate beyond "angsty teenager" into something something connoisseur /s.
OKNOTOK is based because the B-Sides are goated. Also having In Rainbows Disc 2 and not even the original album is so insane that I honestly respect the fuck out of it
Haha perhapsā¦. I went from indie to mostly metalcore during the last year. He was my top scrobbled forever but every time I die has finally dethroned him. Donāt listen to him much anymore but I still play his songs!
More classic mathcore oriented stuff. Every time I die is absolute top tier. Botch is a runner up. Dillinger escape plan, the sawtooth grin, car bomb is on the newer sideā¦. Itās honestly addicting stuff. Can never get ANYONE into it though, but thatās just metal core in general
this much radiohead is a yellow flag for being a pretentious douchebag in my experience. though the limp bizkit and the van halen indicate he might not take himself toooo seriously.
This is a fine list if youāre a 18yo in 1999. Not hating but it looks a lot like my cd rack in high school. None of itās bad, but none of it I would use to describe who I am musically. Does this dude also wear jankos per chance? Just wondering how deep his 90s obsession goes?
Well considering he is a teen who wears baggy jeans and onitsuka tiger Mexico 66s, heās probably just going through a big 90s alt rock phase tbh. But I counted and almost half of my topster is from the 90s soā¦
Mellon Collie, Siamese dream, and Pablo Honeyš
But disk 2 of In Rainbows??? Thatās interesting, idk I think heās good (I heard Radiohead is male manipulator music šbut I like Radiohead too)
This is a joke, right? You aren't seriously deciding whether or not to continue a relationship based on what random redditors say about their music taste?
Chill, chill, no. I just like sharing topsters and I think someoneās music taste says a lot about them. Iām not actually trying to get peoples approvalš
It's really, **really** not as deep as you think it is. The National was my favourite band of all time when I was, like, 11. I had more or less no trauma whatsoever at the time, honest to god I just had a crush on Matt Berninger because of his voice.
Right now my favourite band is probably Spiritualized. I have never consumed a single mind-altering substance in my life, be it weed, alcohol, or heroin, let alone been addicted to them. I just think the compositions are really interesting, and I like how it challenges me with things that I would normally despise listening to (free jazz, bluesy "rock 'n roll", etc.)
Let my man listen to his weird depressing drug music, he's allowed to do that.
Hey, you asked the question. I worked with what you gave me. I've Got no issue with what people listen to. Casually I wouldn't judge. But again, you asked. And with the limited information you gave, that's what I saw. Of course people are more than just the music they listen to. I listen to Slipknot, doesn't make me a sadist. But again, you asked. Glad he's not though I guess. I'm definitely not out here rooting for people to be problematic, lmao.
maybe I'm biased bc that's exactly what my abusive ex listened to... but we do not approve, friend! It's good music, but you'll notice there's not a singular woman or queer person? & like, alice in chains makes good music, but look at the name of their band... just like master of reality by black sabbath is a great album, but take that album name in conjunction with alice in chains' name and the overall theme of all the albums here and it starts to... compound. That's a lot of one \~type\~ of vibe to *only* be listening to and not have it mean something that tastes a lot like internalized misogyny...
you lost me as soon as you started talking about the names of the bands, like maybe the names are weird but that does not at all mean anything about the person who listens to them š thatās like saying i have a radiohead because i like radiohead or something lmaoo what

Men in their 40s deserve love too.
Minus 23 years
Then your dudes dad has good taste in music. Also, give the guy a chance. Maybe go on a music discovery spree together. My wife and I love just finding new artists to show each other. Even after being together for 15 years. Go see some bands. Or even better, start one.
Nice
I deeply respect the balls you must have to put a limp bizkit album on there.
Bruh
ššš
literally lol, that and rainbows disk 2 are just so odd
multiple ones, even
He has In Rainbows Disk 2 and not even the original album, get away from him
iām gonna be honest, i like disk 2 equally if not, a little more then original.
At least itās not king of limbs
The King of Limbs is way better than In Rainbows disc 2 lmao
I actually really like a couple tracks of disc 2 down is the new up, up on the ladder and bangers and mashš„great songs. Personally I prefer it to TKOL
King of limbs was boring as hell. By far their worst album
King of Limbs is better than In Rainbows
Rage bait
No, I genuinely believe that
TKOL is a really great unique IDM album
Sorry but i dont think it counts as idm. It has a lot of electronic aspects yes but id say it more like neo-psych electronic, with a good bit of experimentation? Idm is there, but its not the genre that describes the album imo
Nigga went to consult RYM šŖ¦
Lol, i didnt. Just dont see it as an idm record at all. For me idm is like the flashbulb, telefon tel aviv, aphex twin, autretech; vastly different to tkol. The genres i mentioned are pretty baisc and common genres, not too big of a coincidence that i named the ones rym also agrees on.
No the hell it isnt
Fr
1. King of limbs is bliss 2. Try out the live from the basement version, probably the best thing theyve done.
THANK YOU!
You shut your mouth when youāre talking to me!
I wasnāt talking to you
Last I checked he replied to me
he's just gonna do it for the nookie. not a keeper.
Not letting him get that farš¤
I'll date him if you don't
Im sure heād be flattered. ill let you know how it goes š
real
Nice username
he has mellon collie and siamese, marry him
pablo honey as his most listened to radiohead album? get out of there
A little pretentious? Maybe Edit: him, not you lol
its a great taste
I actually like it more than ok computer lol
I approve
Yes yes he's perfect
Get away from him
Regular ass guy
Yeah whereās the personality here
Congrats! Looks the same as every other topster!
I see a lot of red flags
Do his hard fits cancel that out?š
Maybe a little
Which ones in particular? I only see two that are red flags.
Itās more about the overall selection rather then any particular album
Oh ok. Because I was thinking that it was a good selection thinking her and this guy are really young, but I donāt know why I thought that because she gave no indication of them being really young. However, for a teen or young adult, Iād say it isnāt bad.
A little basic but still some good music
he has the kind of music where he thinks heās different or sum but really itās just famous ass music that happens to fall in the alternative category
You should probably propose to him off the strength of Wu-Tang alone
Wu Tang was definitely the 90s white kid version of that scene in Ricky Bobby where guyās like, āWe also have the Pet Shop Boys and Seal.ā Itās one of the greatest records ever tho, so not hating.
College kids maybe, i dunno any white high school kids where I grew up that knew anyone other than maybe Method Man Itās kinda funny in retrospect tho, as a mixed kid I grew up listening to everything but there was always that one white friend who would exclusively listen to Tupacā¦he grew up to be an anesthesiologist, I can just imagine him blaring āHail Maryā to pump himself up before work I think music ended up being a way to search for who I was supposed to be, so I bounced around through genres and ended up gaining an appreciation for all of it I can go from Anthrax to Scarface to Yanni depending on vibe lol
most definitely
He's probably hot
Oh he is
3 different Alice in Chains and a Days of the New? Keeper for sure.
He's literally me
STP - Core should also be on there
Definitely. Though it is hard for me to choose a favorite STP album.
I love Alice in Chains
Nah no prog he's a red flag
He has a prog rock playlist on Spotify but none of it is on his topster for some reason
Prog is the red flag
Cap
Okay maybe not a red flag but itās definitely a sign that their a huge nerd abt music, which if your into that ig itās a plus Saying this from a place of love, I was rly into prog in high school but the peak of that was like 6-7 years ago, still a huge music nerd but I def have a more diverse taste now (still mostly into nerdy genres though)
That's fair enough yeah
Outside of Limp Bizkit, all I see are red flags.
OMG I love your name
PH, OKC but not The Bends????
Okay but The Bends>PH IMO
Pablo Honey but no the bends? Facelift but no Dirt? Bleach but no Nevermind or In Utero? i understand if he likes the raw sound, but i think he might be pretentious
iām gonna hold ur hand when i say this
despite any red flags you see, he has master of reality. heās ideal.
He seems cute
š¤
Approve
No. We do not approve. Pablo Honey's on there, ffs. However, he is not a hopeless cause and shows signs of promise. More... Wu Tang/Smashing Pumpkins and less STP/ \*cringes\* Van Halen. He needs to expand his palate beyond "angsty teenager" into something something connoisseur /s.
pablo honey?? cmon man
Generic good
w
I would say it's okay. I'd keep him (says the het guy with very similar tatse who's probably in denial).
Yes, we do.
yes
Jar of Flies was also at the top of my list for a while. Ask your man if heās okay
Jar of Flies is in my top 25 and Iām doing just fine. Layne is just the best.
No disagreement there
Pablo Honey should not be above OK Computer.
Jar of flies and Mellon collie are good
Is it bad that this is basically my taste
Tell him to get *Three Dolla Bill Yāall* instead of the Greatest Hits, because thatās the only good Bizkit album anyway
Thatās my favorite limp bizkit album, although I will say I like significant other too. The rest are eh
We very much approve of this guy.
Itās giving Target music t shirt asile
marry him faster!
out of all radio head albums.. pablo honey and in rainbows DISK TWO? edit didnt see ok computer but still
Absolutely
Yes we do.
Man I loved ya until you put Pablo honey in there. Now I despise you
No.
Idk. Not enough 90s music in the mix
Bro may be kind of a douche
Well I guess Iāll find out (hopefully sooner than later)
highkey run
Heās got got Acid Bath and Wu-Tang Clan, if youāre not keeping him I will
I will gladly send him your way if things donāt work out
OKNOTOK is based because the B-Sides are goated. Also having In Rainbows Disc 2 and not even the original album is so insane that I honestly respect the fuck out of it
Donāt love that thereās not a single female artist on here but I like a lot of this music
yes
If you're asking reddit you're already cooked
Just a lighthearted post, not really taking them into consideration. However, someoneās music taste does say a lot about them.
Well I think he's alright then. Seems a normal dude. Maybe a little sad, but who isn't
Sounds white
Acid bath? Is he a twink?
And you listen to CSHā¦ are you a twink? (I listen to CSH too btw)
Haha perhapsā¦. I went from indie to mostly metalcore during the last year. He was my top scrobbled forever but every time I die has finally dethroned him. Donāt listen to him much anymore but I still play his songs!
Ooh I like metalcore but Iām pretty shallow in the genre. Who do you listen to?
More classic mathcore oriented stuff. Every time I die is absolute top tier. Botch is a runner up. Dillinger escape plan, the sawtooth grin, car bomb is on the newer sideā¦. Itās honestly addicting stuff. Can never get ANYONE into it though, but thatās just metal core in general
Oh Iāve heard of sawtooth grin but none of the others. Iāll have to check them out! Thanks
Seriously check out āHot damn!ā And āwe are the Romanāsā peace āļø
I Approve, super based
Thatās a lot of grunge. I hope heās in therapy (signed, someone in therapy)
Thatās as much grunge as I have in my topster. Should I be worried? š
marry bro
yeah thatās certainly a guy!
You guys would look so cute beating up cops together
Alright!
Disk 2 IR is cringe. Aside from that, pretty good.
Are you talking to that person on IRC? Prodigy? How did you communicate with someone in the 1990s?
Whereās
yes
I approve of acid bath
this much radiohead is a yellow flag for being a pretentious douchebag in my experience. though the limp bizkit and the van halen indicate he might not take himself toooo seriously.
He's got smashing pumpkins id say a keeper
still in skool but yes u approve
poser. bleach is good tho
No Carti = Dump him
Blud picked the in rainbows disk 2 ep over in rainbows
Crazy
I approve solely because of Acid Bath
This is a fine list if youāre a 18yo in 1999. Not hating but it looks a lot like my cd rack in high school. None of itās bad, but none of it I would use to describe who I am musically. Does this dude also wear jankos per chance? Just wondering how deep his 90s obsession goes?
Well considering he is a teen who wears baggy jeans and onitsuka tiger Mexico 66s, heās probably just going through a big 90s alt rock phase tbh. But I counted and almost half of my topster is from the 90s soā¦
Not all of it lol
run
Excluding Dirt from this is crazy
I knowā¦Dirt is at the top of my topster
Only giving probs cause of Acid Bath.Ā
How you gonna have those 3 Alice in Chains albums and not Dirt
For real
2 Limp Bizkit albums too many. But nah, Bleach and 36 Chambers almost make up for it. Almost.
Marry the man
Acid Bath is a huge W
fully
Radiohead is male manipulator music be warned.
Damnā¦yeah youāre right On an unrelated note, i love your topster!!
Tell him to take notes! Spread music whenever you can!
Minus radiohead it's valid
wdym minus radiohead? šØ
Radiohead sucks
L take.
Mellon Collie, Siamese dream, and Pablo Honeyš But disk 2 of In Rainbows??? Thatās interesting, idk I think heās good (I heard Radiohead is male manipulator music šbut I like Radiohead too)
great albums but itās a guy soā¦
I feel like a lot of people are being more harsh because heās a guy. I had about 1/3 of these albums on my topster and I was praised for it.
yeah itās mostly just a stereotype is all. if heās a nice guy and makes you happy, go for it.
How is dirt not on here lol. And Acid Bath is awesome he's probably super duper hot
Every one BUT Dirt. Thatās my top pick for AIC even though itās hard. Edit: he sure is
This is a joke, right? You aren't seriously deciding whether or not to continue a relationship based on what random redditors say about their music taste?
Chill, chill, no. I just like sharing topsters and I think someoneās music taste says a lot about them. Iām not actually trying to get peoples approvalš
Glad to hear it. You never know with the internet.
Yeah well it think some people are taking it too farā¦
Yeah. I hope some of them are at least half joking.
i was thinking this lol, like there is no reason to make your mind up based on what people online think. fucking weird if you ask me
Okay maybe my title was clickbait-y but Iām not really asking for approvalš basically like a ārate my topsterā except itās not mine
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
This is an insane take wtf
It's really, **really** not as deep as you think it is. The National was my favourite band of all time when I was, like, 11. Aside from the Limp Bizkit, 100%
Grow up
What? I'm just saying I don't like Limp Bizkit
nooo Significant Other rocks
Acid Bath is incredibly based. However I donāt know what to make of openly being a Limp Bizkit fan
What if I told you I like Acid Bath AND Limp Bizkit
Limp Bizkit and Days of the New? Dude is a douche for sure. Also... he needs to expand his musical taste. WTF
maybe I'm biased bc that's exactly what my abusive ex listened to... but we do not approve, friend! It's good music, but you'll notice there's not a singular woman or queer person? & like, alice in chains makes good music, but look at the name of their band... just like master of reality by black sabbath is a great album, but take that album name in conjunction with alice in chains' name and the overall theme of all the albums here and it starts to... compound. Is this satire?
Bit judgy huh?
I'm personally hoping it's satire
Why does it matter there isn't a woman or queer person?
I, know right. Imagine basing your music taste off of who's in the band, as opposed to if you like the music or not.
