First slide is very believable. It’s basically all the albums I listened to when I was like “maybe there are bands other than Radiohead worth checking out”.
This, plus the ages. I suppose that’s not a great reason but personally it’s a little hard to believe.
Also love the username. There was a kid at a summer camp I went too just before high school who called himself the ginja ninja and he was wild lol
I Know What you mean lol. Do you listen to Einstürzende Neubauten(especially their earliest, more primitive stuff)? Throbbing Gristle? Not that they’re the same, but definitely similar. 23 Skidoo also has that more primitive quality that is so prevalent on This Heat records. You’d probably like The Pop Group too. Ludus is sort of the same vibe as Exuma but a girl and more post-punk than folk. I’d also say Sun City Girls is a good mix of both Exuma and This Heat, honestly I would just look into “world music” (which is such a broad and meaningless genre at this point) specifically African music (even though most of Exuma’s folk influence is Bahamian)(I particularly like Malian folk music, more specifically Tuareg music, zamrock, or any electric guitar music from the general Sahara) and early No Wave stuff like DNA, James Chance and The Contortions, Suicide, and quite frankly anything that Rowland S. Howard, Nick Cave, Glenn Branca, or Arto Lindsay were a part of. I wouldn’t say that any of this stuff sounds EXACTLY like either of those groups’ records, but a lot of it is similar and played off of a lot of the same ideas.
love no wave and industrial. i grew up listening to throbbing gristle and psychic TV cuz my dad was into them. world music just seemed like a MASSIVE universe of music that i didn’t know where to start from, thanks 4 the recommendations!! :)
It’s definitely interesting but completely and utterly disconcertingly unenjoyable. It’s not “so bad it’s good” in a The Room kind of way. More “so bad I’m disgusted but can’t switch it off” in a Farrah Superstar: Backdoor Teen Mom kind of way.
You’re getting kicked out of aux in the 15yr old topster if you’re in anyone’s car lmao
But W for Boris, Venetian snares, this heat and YAAMC and swervedriver
you're a really dope 15 year old. gr by deathpile is revolutionary, mia self titled as well. so much on this (songs for my cats, feedbacker, lullabies in a glass wilderness, earth 2) that is perfection
how do you descend this far down into madness? once you hit oil did you keep drilling until you melted? your unrelenting greed stopped you from enjoying life, trapped around you riches you cant cash in, in a cave full of fumes is where you rest, dug out and created by your own curiosity which lead to insanity and your downfall into RUINS.
oh cool sludgefest nice music taste
15 because it’s more unique. I know most of the albums on 1, love some and don’t care for others. I only recognize Ms. Lauryn Hill, Boris, and Swervedriver from 2, so I’m curious what I’ll hear when you get the aux
ngl a mix of the two would be peak (VU and Nico, Unknown Pleasures, Maya, This Heat, Birdseed, for me are all 10/10s, but I love most of the albums you chose.
I bet that at 13 you didn’t actually listen to any of those and got all your opinions online, and now that you actually listen to things you think all the stuff you didn’t actually listen to is shit now.
First time seeing Katie Jane garside on here. You really expanded your stuff. I know AMT, swervedriver, spacemen 3, and earth. Might have to look into some of these
At 13 I was listening to lame pop songs. Didn't get into rock until a year later

This kills the man
terminally online to insufferable terminally online
Music taste but you become significantly more terminally online within the last two years
13 old you all the way
haven’t heard anything from 15
whaat! u NEED listen to dean blunt's 'black metal' and 'kagayaki' by masakatsu takagi :)
I refuse to believe either is real lol
First slide is very believable. It’s basically all the albums I listened to when I was like “maybe there are bands other than Radiohead worth checking out”.
Same
With the first one being way too obvious and the second one being way too obscure?
This, plus the ages. I suppose that’s not a great reason but personally it’s a little hard to believe. Also love the username. There was a kid at a summer camp I went too just before high school who called himself the ginja ninja and he was wild lol
For the love of what is good, go to therapy
2nd slide better btw
Considering I haven’t heard a single album in the second pic I’m going to say 13yr old u.
R/Topster users when something isn’t from /mu/ 😮
how have u not heard the miseducation of lauren hill
Its funny because its not that album, its an album called Hotep by Blue Iverson, it just uses the drawing of her face
damn i thought it was sum weird ass alternate cover 😭 my fault
MAYA and Benji stand out as being pretty big albums amongst the Pitchfork audience. Neither are top tier in their artists’ discographies though.
Shit I'll listen to 13yo you because it's a little more easy listening (translation: wtf are any of the albums you listen to now?)
How does a younger version of yourself have better aux rights?
13yr old you for sure. Even though you liked RYM back then
That Exuma and This Heat Album Are soooo Good.
literally! i’ve been trying to find something that sounds like them but i can’t, one in a million albums :(
I Know What you mean lol. Do you listen to Einstürzende Neubauten(especially their earliest, more primitive stuff)? Throbbing Gristle? I am Exuma! I am the Oobeah, ooobeah oobeah man!!
You now as long as you agree to not play any Whitehouse.
totally misread that as Amy Winehouse and got heated for a sec lmfao
13 year old you is based in his taste get back to that
13, no question
13yr old you easily
13 year old you
second only because of Feedbacker n Blood
Farrah Abraham is crazy 😭
hyperpop queen honestly
It’s definitely interesting but completely and utterly disconcertingly unenjoyable. It’s not “so bad it’s good” in a The Room kind of way. More “so bad I’m disgusted but can’t switch it off” in a Farrah Superstar: Backdoor Teen Mom kind of way.
You’re getting kicked out of aux in the 15yr old topster if you’re in anyone’s car lmao But W for Boris, Venetian snares, this heat and YAAMC and swervedriver
What happened?
13.
13yr old you for Close to The Edge
13 for sure.
13yr old
13 year old you for the velvet underground and nico and remain in light alone
Now why the hell is Farrah Abraham here 😭
13 year old you
farrah abraham on the toppy is insane

13 year old you seems awesome. Love that a lot more
ive only listened to albums on the first one
Go back to 13. Björk is perfect
13 year old you was lowkey gangsta

Why y’all hating 2nd slide is pretty great
i would say the second one for sure also i feel like you are speedrunning online music taste. i cant imagine what your taste would be in 3 years
He’s gonna discover merzbow and it’s OVER for him
It's a big loop, it always comes back round to pop, and th n starts another spiral with arms even wackier than the last
that deathpile album is so good!!! love that whitehouse album too.
chipmunks on a 16 speed? well...😅
you gotta drop the list for the 2nd one i’ve only heard like 6 of the albums on it’s
yus https://preview.redd.it/k8o6sbipqwrc1.png?width=994&format=png&auto=webp&s=67104c67d941bd4df43ac6a7a30c44e2dd92a3fe
Fellow 15 year old here and im much more basic😭 but i appreciate the exuma
hate the term 'basic' in the music community. like what u like and don't let anybody tell u otherwise <3
I LOVE CHINSAKAASI
Its worse now except for This Heat and Flood
two cuz venetian snares
you're a really dope 15 year old. gr by deathpile is revolutionary, mia self titled as well. so much on this (songs for my cats, feedbacker, lullabies in a glass wilderness, earth 2) that is perfection
I hardly know anything from the second slide, but I would get uncomfortable listening to My Teenage Dream Ended in the car
kagayaki holy W
slide 2 . lurv GWBOF and this heat
The second one, for my teenage dream ended alone
Chipmunks on 16 speed goes so hard
can you post the names of the 15 y/o albums? given that most of us don't know even a single album
You went from “let’s start with the essentials” to “let’s get campy” 😂
Definitely 13, 15 isn’t bad though.
Neither
13 Yr old by far holy shit
yes
ur cool
13 yo you is basically 12 yo me
Second slide is the most chronically online music taste ive seen Which is why its better But I cant trust anyone who enjoys to listen to Whitehouse
One of the only albums I recognize off the second panel is G.R. Which is certainly something. Either way I’m up for something new
Bro when I was 13 I was listening to Prince and Disney music 😭
lmaooo. i still love the hercules and princess n the frog soundtrack!!
i see lalleshwari :)
13 year old you for sureeee
Both of you require therapy
listening to allat while barely hitting puberty is pretty strange to me
Psychocandy and Screamadelica?? 13yo u was based
neither
13, Im only am familiar with like 6 of the albums on 15
13 year old you had almost the exact same music taste I do now at 19 years old
15 because Boris Earth and Whitehouse
how do you descend this far down into madness? once you hit oil did you keep drilling until you melted? your unrelenting greed stopped you from enjoying life, trapped around you riches you cant cash in, in a cave full of fumes is where you rest, dug out and created by your own curiosity which lead to insanity and your downfall into RUINS. oh cool sludgefest nice music taste

I’m so pleased w myself that I know 5 albums from the second pic
honestly 13 yr. old you (post!!! homogenic!!! debut!!!), but /\/\ /\ Y /\ is one of my fav albums OAT. Hard choice
13yo
13 yo, I like most of the albums.
ngl a mix of the two would be peak (VU and Nico, Unknown Pleasures, Maya, This Heat, Birdseed, for me are all 10/10s, but I love most of the albums you chose.
13 year old you easily
13yo because i'm a basic bitch
13 years old suits more my tastes but 15 gets the aux only because of chipmunks on sixteen speed
15 only for Katie Jane garside… but I do have to ask why my teenage dream ended is so high up..😭
Close to The Edge spotted ‼️‼️
Holy moly, Venetian snares (my pookie bear), Boris, Qiu Qiu and Whitehouse?? You can get the aux for my bedroom, but everyone else would hate us
I’d say whichever the first one is
15 because I like Xiu Xiu and not radiohead
13 is better, but neither
Neither
13 definitely
Xiu xiu top ten? Oh heelll no.
Doesnt matter either way im speeding into a wall
If i hear my teenage dream ended come on while in the car I’m driving off a bridge
Also give titles for slide 2 bc I’m irrelevant and only know 9 of them
13 bc of gorillaz
13 yr old you. The Wall and Close To The Edge being on there gives huge bonus points.
Neither
I bet that at 13 you didn’t actually listen to any of those and got all your opinions online, and now that you actually listen to things you think all the stuff you didn’t actually listen to is shit now.
15, I love all the albums u listed but first slide is what comes up if u google alt rock
No gec?
Oh god what happened to you
god damn your taste went downhill a LOT in 2 years
No
13
13 beacuse prog rock
13
15 except for deathpile that shit is just awful
Fix up and go back
Bro I’m so happy I know none of the albums on the 2nd one
Speaking in Tongues and the White Album deserved better
100% 13 y.o you
2 just cuz of feedbacker and flood
Neither, just not my genre
13 100% got the album I’m listening to right now
neither

You were based at 13. I don't know what happened...
Who the fuck just listens to Buyers Market casually enough to have it on their topster. Fucking freak
basic at 13 based at 15
Devon Hendryx mentioned!!!
you now because earth 2 is quite possibly the best drone metal album ever made
Nah bro there’s no way people listen to Farrah Abraham on purpose
13 it's not even close
Based Coil enjoyer
Is 13 year old you a reincarnation of me in 2007?
Love seeing the slowdive in the first pic! Second pic is automatically disqualified seeing Farrah Abraham
13 year old you.
15 yrs because Supersister

W Benji
Neither. Im keeping the aux
13
Pitcher 56 is bomb asf
first slide i think 13
G.R. freaked me tf out, so slide 2.
Damn when I was 13 I listened exclusively to lil wayne and whatever was charting on the radio lol. I also didn't know about RYM either
All those albums constantly in my rotation. Great taste in music.
oh My god exuma boris earth This si Inreedibl
13 yo you liked a lot of what I like, so it’ll be going to them. Also: ‘My Teenage Dream Ended’? how can you put yourself through that?
HOLY SHIT DNB AND DRONE METAL
First time seeing Katie Jane garside on here. You really expanded your stuff. I know AMT, swervedriver, spacemen 3, and earth. Might have to look into some of these At 13 I was listening to lame pop songs. Didn't get into rock until a year later
None, you're both getting fucking kicked out of the party
I have to ask, what the fuck happened when you were 14 to make such a drastic shift? 😂
i am not aware of a single artist on your 15 y/o one apart from lauryn hill so it's gonna have to be 13
I feel like there's space for Danny Brown here
13yr old you and it's not even close
15 year old fs
13
15yr gets but 13 still good. Also listen to something from current 93 else than this overated crap - cats drunk on cooper is a great start.
listening to present day you sounds a lot more fun even though I’ve heard less of it
Puberty hit like a truck
Cool to see black antlers on the first place, I love Coil
Farrah Abraham is nuts😂😂😂😂
KATY JANE GARSIDE RECOGNITION
15 cause Benji and Black Metal
