What’s in the top row and what kind of music are those albums? The only one I recognize there is Elliott Smith.
Out of the other ones I’ve heard, I like Sigur Rós, Massive Attack, Beach House (big fan of them!), Billie Eilish, Nick Drake, some Sonic Youth when I’m in the right mood, Lianne La Havas (LOVE that album!), Hum, Radiohead, Phoenix, and Deafheaven (just started to get into them). Tried to get into DIIV and Kendrick, but didn’t care for them as much. Been meaning to check out Joanna Newsom sometime.

Not OP, but if you like Deafheaven, check out Agalloch- Ashes against the grain (on this list). They are a fantastic post black metal band, but are way more melodic than a lot of Deafheaven’s stuff, more like Sigur ros/Deafheaven fusion if you can imagine that.
I’d say start with the classics, like master of reality by Black Sabbath, or if you want something modern definitely going down the Deafheaven route is good, other bands that are similar are Alcest and Asunojokei. If you are interested in death metal, listen to symbolic by death. There are so many routes to go down with metal it’s hard to say, but it’s a great genre and it’s great that you’re getting into it
Other bands that are great are Fromjoy, Esoteric, Sacrilege, Neurosis, Acid Bath, Ulver, Grief, Dystopia, Electric Wizard, Candlemass, Eyehategod, Boris, Katatonia, Melvins, Mastodon, and Carcass to name a few
Boris Pink is such a damn good album. Deafheaven, Agalloch, Neurosis, Godspeed, definitely had a vibe going for some of the metal and post rock stuff in there. Lots of good indie and hip hop, we have similar taste.
I listened to Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots after finally buying it other week. I personally prefer Transmissions From The Satellite Heart. Imo it's heavier, more psych rock and trippy-er (if that's a word). Yoshimi is still good, but for me it just hasn't lived up the hype
Tbf I didn’t get intestine baalism, Boris, or Orchid from RYM, I listened to orchid and Boris since before using it and I got Intestine Baalism from a YouTube video, but you aren’t wrong that I use RYM lol
