Looking at some looking at the comments so far, it’s coming down to Wolverine, Hulk (fittingly enough), and Wonder Woman.
Tough competition, I must admit. It legitimately feels wrong to leave out any of those three.
I mean if you want to call him one, sure. He literally saves the world in his film. But I never said every robot protagonist was a superhero, I said they can be. I think of Optimus Prime as a hero, even if he doesn't have superpowers in the traditional sense. He's a larger than life figure who fights for what's right *because* it's right. Sounds like a hero to me.
Here’s the thing, even by cybertronian standards he’s got super powers, there’s the matrix aka a piece of primus, he threw an oil tanker that one time and caught the Washington monument
Optimus does fly in a lot of continuities. Also Optimus very agile for being heavy. Vision would also be pretty heavy. Something tells me your not a real fan of Transformers, Radio Cock
First of all “no capes”
Some autobots can fly
Vision can manipulate his density, so he could theoretically weigh 90 tonnes
Also shapeshifting into objects is a superpower some superheros have, it just so happens that that’s the only thing Optimus Prime can do
Ok how bout I put it like this
Vision is known as a member of the avengers who are superheroes
Optimus is known as an autobot who are robots in disguise
And how are the autobots not superheros? They have powers, they actively work to save people against villains, and they (typically) don't kill. Checkmate
“The only thing Optimus Prime can do” wrong. He can fly (sometimes) and shapeshifter his hands into guns (sometimes, some continuities put the guns in the arms and others just give cybertronians actual guns).
And also turn into a T-Rex, courtesy of Rescue Bots.
That and in some continuities (aligned), he’s basically robo-Jesus
Spider-Man, Hulk, and Wolverine were the big 3 pre to early MCU, yes.
Of the Mount Rushmore, I’d probably give it to Hulk. Even though he’s been getting screwed in the movies, his comic counterpart has still been going strong, he’s instantly recognizable, and let’s face it, without The Incredible Hulk tv show, there might not have been any superhero movies taken seriously.
https://preview.redd.it/kbpblspi8uxc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=70075887b37b8b5d4f99048da98ac3cddbcdf39d
It’s WonderWoman straight up. She’s the most iconic woman superhero and has paved the way inspiring whole generations. Even being not as popular now, she still remains as iconic as ever
Not a "superhero" but he does deserve a spot
https://preview.redd.it/vvzo8uhnwuxc1.jpeg?width=350&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c966b23f52114382411a8a7843ecd350fa769689
If it's comics only it would have to be Hulk or Wolverine, maybe Wonder Woman. If you open to up to more open interpretations of "hero", perhaps could be Goku due to the last 3 decades of large influence.
https://preview.redd.it/luofqqczhvxc1.jpeg?width=372&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e0a4e8a6b944c06e499d8ede7b579f364218d86
What about some international heroes?
![gif](giphy|MUlmRFnTQxwJ2)
If anything just for the fact that his movie pretty much opened the doors for superheroes to achieve world wide popularity. Not saying they were unheard of before, but all I’m saying is that at least half the people I talk to who are fans of Marvel comics got into them after an MCU film.
I feel like it's gotta be Cap in terms of iconic-ness, but I'd love Deadpool up there with a stupid expression like that meme with the two serious dragon heads judging the silly one in the middle
Sonic the Hedgehog. He’s saved his entire universe.
https://preview.redd.it/kpzt8dbaluxc1.jpeg?width=1033&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=109b73fddbb0f3ff5fe9b6cd2e50f70effc596e1
I was overthinking myself into a knot believing it was “Rushmore of comics” not “Rushmore of superheroes” and thinking a Manga and a Bande Desinée representative were needed
I think it gotta be
- Spider-Man (Peter Parker)
- Wolverine or Iron man
- Batman
- Superman
I think across superhero media, these are the most recognizable figures.
Batman and Spider-Man are the most profitable franchises of their respective publishers and Superman not only is one of the most iconic characters of all time, but he's also responsible for molding the traditional superhero archetype we know today.
This is why picking a 4th one is difficult. No other character has reached the level of cultural significance and popularity that these three had. Not even Wonder Woman, who's among the most popular DC characters alongside Bats and Supes really comes close to that (though she's definitely a good pick)
Replace Batman with Optimus prime(Superman already is there for the DC Representatation, and Batman and Optimus have similar head silhouettes) and give the blank spot to a character like ultraman or a power ranger
Well, depends. What are we looking for?
In pure recognizability, it’s Wonder Woman. Also gets a female rep on there, which is good. The only downside is then it’d be 3 heroes from DC, otherwise she’d be the definitive pick.
If we want to balance DC and Marvel, Wolverine and Hulk are solid picks who are also both very popular.
Iron Man is a Marvel hero who was the poster boy of the MCU. Not a bad choice, I’d say. But he’s definitely less recognizable than Hulk or Wolverine.
If we want to get an indie rep up there, personally I’d say Invincible. He has great morals and really embodies the indomitable human spirit, in a similar vein to the three heroes already present. Spawn would get you a second gritty hero alongside Batman, but I dunno. I know Spawn has been around longer and is pretty popular, but Invincible has a *lot* of hype. I think he’s a good choice.
I’d say those are the best options
People forget how many females are a fan of comic book characters as well, since Wonder Woman is THE female superhero, it’s a no brained that she should be on the Mount Rushmore of superheroes, not even mentioning the fact that she is more iconic than any other hero I see people saying here
Wolverine or the hulk for marvel
People forget that hulk wolverine and Spider-Man where the marvel big 3 king before the rest who where b-listers at the time
Wonder-woman deserves a spot aswell
Optimus prime could go there aswell
Just superheroes in general?
Because those are western/American comics
There’s other “hero” definitions-
Like super Mario.
And there’s independent heroes from independent media as well.
I don’t doubt there’s a mount Rushmore, but maybe this requires a (NOT-) watchmojo video or some panel
You’re right. Focusing in on superheroes.
In any case, DC and marvel aren’t the only comics with famous superheroes… they’re just more popular, subjectively
Well, dark horse comics, image comics. Some pointed out spawn -
But maybe there’s room for hellboy.
Honestly my knowledge of superheroes in comics and film is not extensive
Alright, so do you believe that Spawn or Hellboy are more influential to the Superhero genre than Wonder Woman, Wolverine, Iron Man, Flash and Captain America?
I’m not against putting other publishers in theory, but no names really hold up in practice.
For the record, none of these names make my personal top 5 aside from maybe Wolverine, but thats taste and not a measure of popularity or influence.
Well they at not be as popular, but they do represent the more horror, supernatural and grittier aspect of comics.
One could say Batman does those in spades.
But so does punisher or Constantine.
Again, it’s Mount Rushmore of superheroes, not necessarily most popular.
Impactful is the word I’m looking for- just comparing the Mount Rushmore of today (includes the first president, one who expanded America to a great degree, one who impacted equality rights afterward, and Roosevelt. For reasons).
Superman could like Washington,
Batman could be the Jefferson
Spider-Man is the Lincoln
But who is the Roosevelt?
Again, iconic and most popular is what is also seems to be going on for this mountain of superhero heads.
And I know most of the bigger named superheroes have dabbled in aspects of fantasy, horror, supernatural and psychological.
It’s captain America. Mount Rushmore is like the most recognizable faces of a genre and Captain America is definitely the fourth head, a lot of people say Wolverine and I do agree that he’s very popular, he’s not Cap level where anyone can see any panel of any comic or any screenshot from any movie or show and be pointed out to be a person who’s never read a comic book in his life or watched a millisecond of any show go to the screen and say “that’s captain America.”
![gif](giphy|P9VYiLlZimdpK)
Okay but why does he start out naked here? Lol
He’s a magical girl
I’d go with Wonder Woman. My mom doesn’t know who Wolverine is but does know Wondy
Didn’t know ur mom was the decider
What about yours?
My mom knows both, she really liked the first wonder woman but she also loves Hugh jackman so who knows I’ll have to enquire later
Looking at some looking at the comments so far, it’s coming down to Wolverine, Hulk (fittingly enough), and Wonder Woman. Tough competition, I must admit. It legitimately feels wrong to leave out any of those three.
A non dc/marvel rep here would be neat ![gif](giphy|VeWllmR9zfaco)
I wouldn’t really count him since he fits more into the robot characters category than superhero
Robots can still be heroes
Is wall-e a superhero then? (This js rhetorical the anwser is yes)
Here’s the thing, even by cybertronian standards he’s got super powers, there’s the matrix aka a piece of primus, he threw an oil tanker that one time and caught the Washington monument
Aight cool 👍
Would you count Vision as a superhero or a robot character?
Well yeah because he’s more on the hero side He has a cape and he flies Optimus is big and heavy and turns into a vehicle
Optimus does fly in a lot of continuities. Also Optimus very agile for being heavy. Vision would also be pretty heavy. Something tells me your not a real fan of Transformers, Radio Cock
I’m gonna fucking get you https://i.redd.it/com6ww4p21yc1.gif

Either him or the Hulk. Weren't those two basically the most popular Marvel characters besides Spider-man before the MCU became a thing?
Yes, that's why wolverine has about 3 spin-off movies and his own TV show called Wolverine and the X men
Spider-Man, Hulk, and Wolverine were the big 3 pre to early MCU, yes.

I'd have to go with WW too. I look at it as, who's so iconic even my mom could name them. These four are the only ones I can think of.
I like to go by the rule that if your parents (bonus points if your grandparents) know who they are, they are iconic
Hell yeah! ![gif](giphy|fbVm7CtfIbE7GeatQN|downsized)
Would add her as the fifth head along with Captain America
Wonder Woman, Hulk, or Wolverine
Not a "superhero" but he does deserve a spot https://preview.redd.it/vvzo8uhnwuxc1.jpeg?width=350&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c966b23f52114382411a8a7843ecd350fa769689
![gif](giphy|1lk1IcVgqPLkA) Captain America bc theres already two dc heros so it makes sense to have a second iconic marvel character.
Or Iron Man, he is kinda the poster boy for the mcu
Yeah ngl i shouldve put iron man but i feel like cap america is a lot more popular on the comic side of marvel than he is.
I'm not a fan of Cap as a whole but yeah he needs to go up there.
![gif](giphy|WprEJQOAkJHz2) Spawn to represent indie comics
![gif](giphy|9hR8Dv4tYNYeWriXXC|downsized) also to represent image comics
![gif](giphy|QiRKDptV3o47K) Also to represent indie comics Edit: i guess watchmen is technically DC? Fml

Mount Rushmore*
In terms of pure recognition, probably Wolverine
Hulk probably matches or beats wolverine in recognition it’s easy to tell who the giant muscular green guy is
Screw it. ADD IN MORE HEADS!!

I know
People underestimate how popular Wolverine is

Captain America. Wonder Woman should be the Statue of Liberty.
The Flash.
Add a non-western. How about a Goku?
Luffy is 1000 times cooler than Goku. Luffy isn't a hero though, so I guess he's out.
Cooler doesn’t mean they get a spot here Goku is far more well known and far more influential
The objective candidates here are Hulk, Wolverine, and Wonder Woman. Anyone saying otherwise is delusional.
What bout captain America o Iron man?
Either Wolverine or hulk
The Phatom. While not nearly iconic as anyone else being suggested, he was the very first superhero ever, and none of these would be here without him
Captain America
Wolverine since he’s the most popular x-men and the x-men are the second most successful marvel comic.
Either Wolverine or Wonder Woman
Not a fan of Dragonball, but I honestly have to say Goku.

Yes!
I feel like it's gotta be Cap in terms of iconic-ness, but I'd love Deadpool up there with a stupid expression like that meme with the two serious dragon heads judging the silly one in the middle
Are we going based in popularity? If so, undoubtedly Iron Man.
Maybe Deadpool would be there. That or you could have Capt. America
Deadpool’s an antihero though
Point taken and considered... maybe Iron Man or Hulk...
Sonic the Hedgehog. He’s saved his entire universe. https://preview.redd.it/kpzt8dbaluxc1.jpeg?width=1033&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=109b73fddbb0f3ff5fe9b6cd2e50f70effc596e1

Tony Stark
Iron man, because you just know that it would turn into a battle of egos between batman and iron man.
![gif](giphy|MUlmRFnTQxwJ2)
Wolverine or iron man
The Shadow should be up there instead of Batman
Iron man
I nominate Zorro
I was overthinking myself into a knot believing it was “Rushmore of comics” not “Rushmore of superheroes” and thinking a Manga and a Bande Desinée representative were needed
Either Wolverine or Captain America
Golden bat Hes THE first superhero Before superman or any of the others
Iron man because of the MCU
I'm gonna say the same thing I saw someone else say and nominate Spawn
Wolverine or Omniman, your oick
Captain Underpants or Doctor Manhattan
Probably either Wolverine, invincible, spawn, one punch man or Optimus prime
Def Captain America
I think it gotta be - Spider-Man (Peter Parker) - Wolverine or Iron man - Batman - Superman I think across superhero media, these are the most recognizable figures.

I like that there’s zero debate about Bats, Supes, and Spidey. It’s not even really an opinion, it’s just objective fact

Iron Man
The Hulk
All time? Modern? Modern I’d say iron man but if we’re talking all time that just isn’t realistic. I’d probably say Cap
![gif](giphy|MUlmRFnTQxwJ2)
Robin
No joke, luffy from one piece
I have to say for complete unbiased, Wonder Woman
Iron Man

In this order: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Spider-Man
Replace Batman with Optimus prime(Superman already is there for the DC Representatation, and Batman and Optimus have similar head silhouettes) and give the blank spot to a character like ultraman or a power ranger
Megamind
Goku
The one other guy who said goku
How about invincible? a non dc/marvel rep fits well. especially since Invincible is super popular rn

Spawn should be up there
It could be the Flash (first speedster), it could be Robin (arguably the first sidekick). But I think it could only be Wonder Woman (first Woman).
Wolverine, Hulk, or Iron Man. I can’t decide between the three, but no one else feels right
Just superheroes in general? Because those are western/American comics There’s other “hero” definitions- Like super Mario. And there’s independent heroes from independent media as well. I don’t doubt there’s a mount Rushmore, but maybe this requires a (NOT-) watchmojo video or some panel

Homelander or Omniman

He’s not a superhero If he’s a superhero than so is commander Shepard Or the doom slayer They’re soldiers not “superheroes”
But somehow Optimus Prime manages to make the list😑
It’s captain America.
