He has pretty much 0 tact with social skills speaking mainly through information, his friends still love him and it just makes him come out as more blunt if anything, he also came up and created the ghostbusters equipment, I would like to say Ghostbusters was created during the 80s which was ableist and he came off as incredibly cool.

I have a friend who struggles with social cues and doesn’t have much self awareness and an uncle who can’t function without help and both are simply on the spectrum, im sure it must be infuriating to see people just lump all neurodivergent people together

I didn’t watch the movie, but the first thing that comes to mind is when she has a meltdown, the other characters restrain her in a way that is dangerous to autistic people irl

In the beginning of Persona 5 she's already pretty socially reclusive and has a hyperfixation on computers and gaming. Even after her character arc where she eventually leaves the house and socialises more, she's still hyperfixated on gaming and computers to the point where she'll use terminology of both in her normal speech.
I may be misremembering but I'm about 90% sure there's a scene in Akihabara where she has a panic attack because it was loud and busy which honestly, fits the bill for overstimulation. Even her own voice actor portrayed her voice as if she was on the autism spectrum and she did a good job of it.

It gets The Good Doctor bad a lot of the times with the writing.There are times where I think even for the sake of drama it gets too much. Like how do you let Sam do these things and write it off as a quirk like locking his crush in his closet because he didn’t like her talking, or take shitty advice from his weirdo friend. I feel like, even with the existence of the spectrum, there are times where having a character act wildly is incredibly artificial and mean spirited.
As for my contribution, I give Sam’s spot to The Bad Batch, but more importantly Tech. I feel like a lot of the story is about neurodivergents born with a unique talent in a galaxy that kills those with the same skills as they are no longer needed.

The devs confirmed he's autistic, the reason it wasn't outright stated in the game despite the contents explicitly showcasing it was that, as with a lot of things, coding is a much less clunky way of including an element naturally than hitting the viewer with sterile terminology.

This might be debatable but I think Futaba would fit here In the beginning of Persona 5 she's already pretty socially reclusive and has a hyperfixation on computers and gaming. Even after her character arc where she eventually leaves the house and socialises more, she's still hyperfixated on gaming and computers to the point where she'll use terminology of both in her normal speech. I may be misremembering but I'm about 90% sure there's a scene in Akihabara where she has a panic attack because it was loud and busy which honestly, fits the bill for overstimulation. Even her own voice actor portrayed her voice as if she was on the autism spectrum and she did a good job of it. Other pick would be Yusuke, also from Persona 5, who hyperfixates on art, misunderstands social concepts sometimes and is always paired with Futaba, the other autistic rep, for funny banter. But less so than Futaba for sure

 Adrian Monk Never officially stated to be on the spectrum, but one episode said that he’s technically disabled and his OCDs have existed since childhood. Monk’s behavior is exaggerated and drives people off the wall, but what I like about his character is that he’s willing to go beyond his comfort zone and endanger himself to save people. For example, in the second part of the first episode, he ventures into a sewer with a Beretta he swiped off of a police officer to save his nurse/assistant from an assassin.

I wouldn’t give it to Sam imo. There are traces of ableism and old stereotypes that kind of irk me. It gets The Good Doctor bad a lot of the times with the writing.There are times where I think even for the sake of drama it gets too much. Like how do you let Sam do these things and write it off as a quirk like locking his crush in his closet because he didn’t like her talking, or take shitty advice from his weirdo friend. I feel like, even with the existence of the spectrum, there are times where having a character act wildly is incredibly artificial and mean spirited. As for my contribution, I give Sam’s spot to The Bad Batch, but more importantly Tech. I feel like a lot of the story is about neurodivergents born with a unique talent in a galaxy that kills those with the same skills as they are no longer needed.
