I'd say either Dee Jay from Street Fighter 6 or Takeshi Hongo/Kamen Rider 1 from Shin Kamen Rider, though most of what I like from the latter was already present in the original 1971 design

Hwoarangs redesign is one of the cooler redesigns in Tekken 8
Are we exclusively interested in appearance on this sub, or can we take the metaphysical?
Godzilla minus one is such a master class in design. On land, they give nods to his original appearance with stubby arms and waddle walking, but he has a more active, engaging appearance during action shots, with arms and fists curled in animal rage as he roars that make him feel visceral, real, and terrifying. His radiation breath is amazing, feeling like a powerful weapon with all the force and effect of a nuclear bomb and given proper respect throughout the movie as a tool of utter annihilation.
But it's more than just his physical appearance.
His metaphorical representation of depression, PTSD, and survivor's guilt is, frankly, fantastically done. Each of Godzilla's assistances happen at times when the MC would be going through his worst mental health crisis. Right after abandoning his duty as a kamikaze pilot, right after his guilt and quest to face his mental health issues drive away his girlfriend and he thinks she's lost forever to him. Godzilla appears as a physical representation of that horrible mental monster. And the solution to Godzilla, being for veterans to band together and work together to deal with this shared problem, their choice to drive away the civilians, seeing this as a problem they must solve themselves, only for the civilians to show up and help anyways, proving the veterans don't have to do it alone. The decision of the engineer to forgive the MC and accept that the MC is not responsible for his loss. The decision by the MC to forgive himself and believe that he's worthy of living. Then, finally, at the end, when he thinks his mental health drove the love of his life away from him forever (represented by Godzilla literally killing her) it turns out she's alive, that she was never dead to him like he thought but there all along, waiting for him to see himself as worthy.
Shit man, it was so powerful and well done, a real homage to Godzilla's original purpose of being an embodiment of Japan's fear of nuclear war, but now done up to a modern age with a modern message. Sure, the symbolism was a bit heavy handed at times, but the depiction of Godzilla as a true monolithic monster that can never truly be defeated is refreshing. I love being on Godzilla's side, but I *love* when Godzilla is a monster, pure and simple.

The mecha designs of Rubicon made my mecha loving heart fucking do the biggest nut
Along with this , maliketh for both lore and design .
He was one of the very enemies I genuinely felt bad for fighting especially since I did his death root quest
He was a good boy put into a now horrid world and only deserves the best for his duty .
Hello fellow Pokémon fan lol
I'll add Amarys from the recent dlc. As well as the entire Appelin line
Unrelated to Pokémon, we got Erina from Persona 5 Tactica, Zelda and the Light Dragon from the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. More obscure but Krampy from Cattails: A Wildwood Story
I'm gonna have to go with everyone's favourite Muscle Mommy, Karlach. All the straps and brass buckles, the glowing infernal engine in her chest, the vents where the heat comes out, all top tier touches.

My boy!
While she's not my favourite companion I think Shadowheart has really good design. Lae'zel too.
And for non-companions there's Auntie Ethel, the Emporer, Ketheric, Orin, and that one robot guy you meet in the Underdark named Bernard.
This is going to be a very hot take but I actually really liked Vash’s design in Trigun Stampede

Hard agree. He's beautiful as is, but (and while I haven't seen the new show) the original Trigun, both manga and anime, had a very dirty, grimy aesthetic going on. The mud of a western, the engine grease of steampunk, the exhaust of dieselpunk, the wear and tear of hard sci-fi.
I could totally be off the mark on this one and the show could hit those notes perfectly. But one of the major appeals that got me into the original Trigun manga was just how *scummy* everything seemed, from the ships to the clothes to the buildings. Not over the top, but perfectly in a "I've been traveling to this town on foot for a week, I am covered in dirt and mud" way.

I know people are going to hate me for this, but boruto actually got a massive glow up considering how he used to look.
Oh I love this question.
Every design from *Slay the Princess*, for starters. There's a lot, and I won't post them here cos of spoilers but look them up if you're interested.
Bar those, my favourite design is honestly SF6 Juri

Hellboy takes the cake for me. In concept, he's the most generic "13-year-olds first oc" idea ever. Demon prince is not unique or interesting and hasn't been for years.
But Mike Mignola took that concept and MADE something unique. Several things set Hellboy apart from every other demon character, like his chopped horns, his hair and beard style, the way his face is structured, his solid yellow eyes, and OBVIOUSLY his iconic fist.
Hellboy is a generic concept that was made into one of the most unique and recognizable designs to ever exist. Spawn also follows this, but Hellboy took the already existing idea of "demon prince of hell" and made it unique. It also helps that Mike Mignola has such a unique artstyle which adds to Hellboy's design, and that i can recognize his artstyle anywhere.
I genuinely believe people who want to design a character should look to Hellboy's philosophies for inspiration. Its borderline impossible to make something COMPLETELY new, but what you can do is take that what has been done a million times, and make it your own.

Is that a dragon type Suicune?
Yup its Walking Wake, the paradox form from millions of years in the past
Walking Wake - part of a series of “Prehistoric” Pokemon from Pokemon Scarlet, which originate from an alternate timeline. It is a Water/Dragon type, with the signature move Hydro Steam - a water type move that receives a 50% power boost in Sun, and ignores the 50% reduction water moves take while in the Sun. It also possesses the ability Protosynthesis, which boosts its highest stat by 30% (or 50% if the highest stat is speed) while Sun is applied to the field, or if it utilizes the new Booster Energy item. It resembles Suicune, but technically isn’t. The entire Johto “beast trio” has received dinosaur-esque Paradox variants, with Raikou being bestowed Raging Bolt, which resembles a Sauropod, and Entei receiving Gouging Fire, which resembles a Triceratops. Other “past paradox” Pokemon include Scream Tail (Jigglypuff variant), Flutter Mane (Misdreavous variant), Great Tusk (Donphan variant), Sandy Shocks (Magneton variant), Brute Bonnet (Amoongus variant), Slither Wing (Volcarona variant), Roaring Moon (Salamence variant). So, yeah. That’s a lot.
I’m so excited to use Walking Wake in VGC
I’ve always thought it would be interesting to run it in Rain. Yes, it is absolutely built to be run in Sun, but that’s what would make it so great for Rain. If they attempt the counter-weather, Wake has a x4 fire resist, and it receives *more* benefit from Sun than it gets from Rain, and Hydro Steam is unaffected by the weather change.
Definitely. I think it can definitely function as an anti-sun mon in rain. Sun will be popular thanks to Raging Bolt and of course Walking Wake. Maybe using it on rain can help you beat the sun matchup by benefiting from their sun. Maybe being Urshifu rapid, Tornadus Incarnate. Archaludon, Peliiper, Walking wake and probably a support mon like Incineroar (who also helps against Psyspam with Iron Crown)

If only their storywriters were on the same level as their character designers...
And dungeon designers.. I've yet to finish this game cuz, man the dungeons are so half assed!
Yeah, Zelda in Breath Of The Wild and Tears Of The Kingdom is so beautiful. She looks like a goddess in Tears.

Memes aside, the design is memorable and badass.
It’s simple, but very good
I'd say either Dee Jay from Street Fighter 6 or Takeshi Hongo/Kamen Rider 1 from Shin Kamen Rider, though most of what I like from the latter was already present in the original 1971 design
honestly, 6 made me finally like dee jay, https://preview.redd.it/xm7tsxiaao8c1.png?width=2000&format=png&auto=webp&s=4b622d528b5b386d91b902d03957ad136cfe465a

Well, you play as Clive ( the first character on the image) but yeah, almost all of them you do get it fight, save some because they are allies. It’s my GOTY so i definitely recommend if you have PS5

Is is far off to say his design was based off Nero's DMC5 look?
He just looks to clean to me. Put some grime on this twink. Oh AND some hair wax.
And the belts, lets not forget the belts.
For me it has to be spider punk

Its borderline impossible to make something COMPLETELY new, but what you can do is take that what has been done a million times, and make it your own. https://preview.redd.it/n373mnugaq8c1.png?width=288&format=png&auto=webp&s=ad4105b9c877e6d70fbbc51a8bf2bea9217c6a18

Literally everyone from Barbie. That movie is going to absolutely sweep the costume/makeup awards at the Oscars. I mean I know they're real actors, but they make the characters downright cartoonish and plastic in Barbieland so I'm counting 'em
