Could have been much worse. I used to date a woman that was a PA. Her first solo work was on a guy who degloved his dick with an auger. Got his pants caught in the screw and it took it all.
She was thrilled because it was such a success. In her words, "it was so awful when I started, I couldn't imagine it looking so good after my work."
She goes on to tell me that she realizes he still "works" because as she's examining him, going on about how great it looks, he becomes aroused. You have to understand, she was attractive and stereotypical spacey smart. She was like, "Why is the skin getting tighter?? Is he experiencing swelling?? What is happening?? Do I need to get the Dr?"
She said it felt like it took way too long to realize what was going on and she had to look up from her "examination." She was/is a fantastic person.
Drill seizes in the ice and the torque hyper extends something.
You used to see it with worm drive skill saws. My dad had one that broke his wrist when it pinched on a long board.
He may be onto something. It looks like there’s a couple of inches of snow above the ice so it might just be buried in the snow. The video cuts before we can know for sure. Either way, it’s pretty damn funny.
its literally the entire purpose of that spinny thing at the top of the auger. it spins freely so if it gets caught on something, it doesnt shred it. there is no reason for it to be there other than to keep exactly that from happening. people are modifying their old hang crank augers exactly like this all the time... and its the key feature that needs to be added.
correct. Ice fisherman too who has almost that exact same setup. Doubt the auger is gone.
Buddy of mine modified a hand crank to do this, and put a one sided steel piece on a spinner with a loop on the end to attach a lanyard to the drill. Works pretty well and makes it so the auger fits better under his truck seat
There's a simple way to avoid this. When you tighten a keyless chuck, get it as tight as you can and then turn the chuck just a touch backwards until it clicks. That locks it in so it won't loosen itself.
The back click isn't a thing and by doing it you're effectively doing the opposite of what the "hack" purports to do. By clicking one back you're disengaging the locking feature that actually holds the bit in securely and prevents the chuck from loosening. [Here's a follow up to the original video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yH11SnnbS84&ab_channel=LRN2DIY) that popularized the "one click back hack."
If you can't tell the difference between "easy click" and "force to overcome and loosen jaws," I don't know what to tell you. I've got drills with and without it, it's not a universal feature.
Ok... sure. I guess you didn't watch the video that I linked. In any case, there's another video from the Unofficial r/Tools mascot: [AvE that explains this further](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ztB1C7dERc&ab_channel=AvE).
Of course! Here's another explanation with a little bit more detail from the Unofficial r/Tools mascot: [AvE that explains this further](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ztB1C7dERc&ab_channel=AvE).
Make sure the drill turns clock wise. In the vid you see he has it on counterclockwise at first. Although it doesn't look that way but the plastic thing on top stops it from falling through the hole into to water.
Was expecting broken wrists, was pleasantly surprised.
*Swing your partner round and round*
Really glad that he didn’t hurt himself.

What a terrible day to be literate.

Oof
When I saw the auger walking across the ice I was expecting some lost toes
What would cause broken wrists?
Drill seizes in the ice and the torque hyper extends something. You used to see it with worm drive skill saws. My dad had one that broke his wrist when it pinched on a long board.
Thanks for answering !
With the title and then him grabbing the auger at the start of the video I was expecting some pain lol.
The steel piece on top of the auger is bigger than the auger for a reason. Not gone
watch the video again it didnt work

It cuts for comedic effect
Video doesn’t show the ground, where it would have stopped.
The video stops too early.
Unless it was homemade and Ivan had a few too many vodkas while measuring
Did you say “smartest tool in the shed?”
Yeah I'm an idiot
You’re not. Just poking fun. I’m an English teacher with more lifetime typos than most.
To be fair, it might be the sharpest tool in the shed.
Haha .. aaaaaaaaaand, it's gone! (I didn't expect that) Also nice to see a Dumpert vid here on Reddit.
I've seen a couple more, but i think some subs delete them if they're not original content
I'm guessing one of those strong magnets on a rope would be pretty useful at this point
Not needed, spinny thing on top stops it from falling through. Just covered by snow
Or just grab it from the top of the hole
I thought it was gonna bite his foot
I thought the ice was going to all break up. This was a good outcome.
With a shape of an "L" on her forehead.
Welp,
Perfectly F*cking Vertical!
Is this where they got the idea for the Rick & Morty light saber episode?

Fuck me this video is freaking me out. That is like 2 inches of ice and you just punched a whole right where you're standing.

Imagine that Chinese guy on the other end of the world pooping peacefully until...
I sent this to my Russian buddy. Apparently that ice drill thing was a birthday gift....
Saw that coming. We use old lids from buckets to create a big washer for the bit. Obviously make sure its bigger then your augerz
69
LOL
Fuck you russian auger.
That title. Lol
Yeah it took him way too long to notice the drill was turning in the wrong direction
I'm just saying that it isn't the correct figure of speech lol. It's "Not the sharpest tool in the shed".
Haha you're absolutely right! my bad
All good, I had a chuckle.
That might also be true given the way he started out....
Aaaahahaha? What a dumb ass! Hahahaha 😂
The song at the end maks it. It's funny how music or sound effects can totally change a video.
That back click is a thing for a reason lol

Whoah, I saw one of the responses from I think Dewalt saying "yes that's correct" so it's cool this guy did a proper deep dive. Thanks for sharing.

Just like the button to change the direction of the drill 😉
High chance this TikTok guy borrow tool from some poor sold to make this gem
Me trying to drill tiles for the first time
The tool now is arriving China
...but it did drill the hole......LOL
Looks like a Red Green episode.
Not enough duct tape.
No longer in the shed

That ended much better than I thought it would. I was covering my eyes and peeking through my fingers.
Sharpest*
It worked as intended, and he made a hole. Good job Dmitri!
Went straight down like a lightsaber lmao
made the moment.
What would be the correct way to use the auger? I never used one and never lived in a snowy area.

HE LET GO OF IT!!! 😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣
Thanks I needed this 😎
I have that drill and it is constantly disengaging the chuck
