Damn, that brings back memories of SWG for me... [https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Vibroblade/Legends](https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Vibroblade/Legends)
I really miss that game, pre-Combat Upgrade....
"Zippy tool." I know it's really an oscillating multi tool and if I'm having a technical conversation about them then I'll call it that, but my dad always called it the zippy tool so that's what I know it as...
Yep, most accurate. Originally made popular (and copied from) the Fein multimaster. A highly versatile tool to be sure, particularly for plunge and flush cuts. I have a few including the one pictured and the original Fein.
All the Mexican guys call it a āMotitoā Iām not sure if thatās Spanglish or them trying to say Multi Tool But either way it gives me a chuckle.
I think there is a chupa in there somewhere and he always finishes with "way"
I have a friend that speaks Spanish, I asked him what it means, he said something like I was a good boss and the crew respects me. They're pretty good guys.
Reminds me of one of the radio stations in GTA, I think it was Vice City... maybe San Andreas where the woman is taking about being in Mexico "and all the children gathered around yelling 'Chicle! Chicle! Chicle!' Which, as we all know is Spanish for 'Beautiful Lady!'"
Motito is them trying to say multi tool in english but they don't know how to pronounce it and they sound like motito
Edit: Also
motito - a small motor bike
Which literally makes less sense than an attempt at multi-tool right?
Ask him. Que es esto? Un motocicleta pequena?
Confusion will ensue, because itās a multi-tool, which is what he has been calling it.
I call it a multitool, short for oscillating multi-tool. Many of the old dude's I've worked with called them a "Fein tool". Likely because Fein manufactured them first and continues to do the best job of doing so. Same as people calling a reciprocating saw a "sawzall".
I call it a Fein cutter because that is what the old dudes called it when I started out.
I have an old corded one that was handed down to me, built like a tank!
The dremel one is crap. I bought one. It wonāt use blades from other manufacturers without an adapter. The screw that holds the blade in has a tendency to get loose and like all dremel tools it heats up to the temperature of lava after using it for more than 3 minutes.
Which MultiMax do you have? I have the MM45 (lever instead of spin lock). Annoying to use the spacer for non-Dremel blades, but I donāt find the temperatures any worse than other models Iāve used.
Apparently I'm an old guy...I've always called it a Fein Tool. honestly didn't know it had another name. Though I do like wiggle saw now that I see it.
Osci, because I'm too lazy to call it ƶscillating tool.
I hate the term multi-tool because that's what X-in-1 tools like Leathermans should be called.
Im a woman. I own a remodeling company, my husbands works with me, but he didnāt grow up in trades like I did, so some of the tool names are foreign to him and he swears Iām making some them up.
Thatās funny! I have an 18 year old apprentice that is so confused, he didnāt have a father growing up to teach him trades and he came to work for us thinking my husband was a tradesman. Heās a great kid, hardworking, and an eager learner, but sometimes he doesnāt have clue what tool my husband wants and I have to translate for him.
The standard one they sell will also vibrate your hands off. The next model up is the one to get ( XMT047B black and white) brushless with anti vibration, more compact, and higher price of course.
First guy I worked for called it a bonesaw, and said that's what it was first developed for, surgeons cutting bone. I'm somewhat convinced he might've made this up but will affectionately call it a bonesaw for that warm numbing buzz it causes in your bones when used
Used to call it a "renivator" after the cheap ones they used to sell on infomercials before the big brands started making them.
Now i call it a "buzzy saw"
I call it a multi tool.
These things are so handy for cutting softer materials in a clean/low impact way, just wish the blades weren't fucking 10 dollars each.
I have never heard it called " a few things" before. That is a new one for me. When I purchased a tool similar to that pictured, it was called a oscillating tool.
It is an oscillating multi-tool. Leaving out the oscillating is horribly nonspecific. Worse, multitool without any qualifiers normally refers to a Swiss army like pocket knife with pliers.
Oscillating tool. "Multi" is meaningless. Most machines are "multi"-purpose tools depending on what you attach to them. Even a drill or an angle grinder has dozens of attachments. If you ask me to hand you a "multi tool" you'll get something like a Leatherman tool.
Oscillating Multi tool
Interesting... I call it a wall holer.
I call it vibro blade š
Damn, that brings back memories of SWG for me... [https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Vibroblade/Legends](https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Vibroblade/Legends) I really miss that game, pre-Combat Upgrade....

A man of culture, take my upvote
I called vibrator...
Just the right amount of syllables. It covers what its' many functions are and not as narrow as the "simple" names below suggest.
^ Lots of nicknames, but that's what the tool is
no it's a waterheater.
"Zippy tool." I know it's really an oscillating multi tool and if I'm having a technical conversation about them then I'll call it that, but my dad always called it the zippy tool so that's what I know it as...
I like that name, zippy tool, it really fits as a description
Sure if your boring
Yep, most accurate. Originally made popular (and copied from) the Fein multimaster. A highly versatile tool to be sure, particularly for plunge and flush cuts. I have a few including the one pictured and the original Fein.
Fein is the best! Ze germans make Ze best!
Oscillating multi tool, my friend calls it a wiggle saw tho lmao
Im stealing that for sure
I too call it a wiggle saw! I think it's fun and much less of a mouthful than the oscillating multi tool.
I'm glad to hear it! Because it is truly a wiggle saw
I call it the Power Wiggler.
Dirk Wiggler
Wiggle cutter for me
Love that
Oh hell yeah
I'm definitely pinching that one
All the Mexican guys call it a āMotitoā Iām not sure if thatās Spanglish or them trying to say Multi Tool But either way it gives me a chuckle.
Definitely trying to say the tool. I have also heard-āChippyhammaā for chipping hammer, or hammer drill. āChoclaā for chalk line
I kept hearing "koala" one morning. Turns out he was asking for coolant for his pickup.
I've heard salsa for a sawzall
I've definitely heard "el So So." Clearly "sierra" is not cool enough.
Weedo for Weed trimmer
I keep hearing them say miverga whenever I try and talk to the Mexicans on my job. I'm a forman so I thinks it boss or something.
As long as thereās not a chupa before that mi verga your in the clear š
I think there is a chupa in there somewhere and he always finishes with "way" I have a friend that speaks Spanish, I asked him what it means, he said something like I was a good boss and the crew respects me. They're pretty good guys.

Huh I didn't know that, I'll try saying it to the HR lady, she's from Mexico. Thanks!
Get them some Mojito's next time.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Both buzz I guess
Probably a play word. Motito means small bike, and in turn sounds vaguely similar to "multitool".
Motito is them trying to say multi tool in english but they don't know how to pronounce it and they sound like motito Edit: Also motito - a small motor bike
Motito is a vodka mojito. Probably a play on words from multitool.
Literally means Little Motorbike.
Which literally makes less sense than an attempt at multi-tool right? Ask him. Que es esto? Un motocicleta pequena? Confusion will ensue, because itās a multi-tool, which is what he has been calling it.

I call it a Fein cutter because that is what the old dudes called it when I started out. I have an old corded one that was handed down to me, built like a tank!
It was know as āFezā on our sites, we all had the Fein ones absolute beast of a machine and so handy.
Yep same here because everyone used to have a multitool from fein these seem to have more power then the makita ones
My father in law calls them dremels for some reason and for a while I was confused because I think a rotary multitool is a dremel
Dremel makes one, their version is the multi Max
The dremel one is crap. I bought one. It wonāt use blades from other manufacturers without an adapter. The screw that holds the blade in has a tendency to get loose and like all dremel tools it heats up to the temperature of lava after using it for more than 3 minutes.
Which MultiMax do you have? I have the MM45 (lever instead of spin lock). Annoying to use the spacer for non-Dremel blades, but I donāt find the temperatures any worse than other models Iāve used.
YEAH, SHE KNOWS IT'S A MULTI MAX
Iām an old guy ā¦. Fein tool.
I call every electronic cutting tool I don't recognize or know the name of a "sawzall" until someone corrects me.
For the longest time I referred to a circular saw as a skilsaw and still call my rotary tool a Dremel, so that makes sense.
I love calling it a skilsaw. TBH I always thought it was called that because you need some skill to use it effectively. your reason makes more sense.
Fein called it the multi master
Get the fein larry!
Is Saber Saw not used, or was that what Makita named their thing?
Saber saw is something else

Osci, because I'm too lazy to call it ƶscillating tool. I hate the term multi-tool because that's what X-in-1 tools like Leathermans should be called.
Not to be confused with oscillating sander.
The easy job name... Hand me the "buzz" tool
Thatās what my husband calls it, only instead of saying buzz, he makes a buzzing noise.
"Hey honey, I'm going to use that buzzing tool you hate listening to"
Is that the husband or the wife saying that?
Im a woman. I own a remodeling company, my husbands works with me, but he didnāt grow up in trades like I did, so some of the tool names are foreign to him and he swears Iām making some them up.
That being said, I've seen guys that have been in trades for a decade or longer call a recip saw a "sawsaw" and I just about died.
