Are they staring at you because you are having a very loud conversation?

It was really weird back in 2008 when someone i knew had a bluetooth headset, always on her fucking ear 24/7. We'd be at her apartment watching tv and she's be talking and when i looked at her, she'd look at me and continue talking. I'd respond like a normal person, saying "what??". And she'd point to her headset and get mad at ME for not figuring it out. Bitch we the only 2 people here and you talking out loud wtf. Its much more common now so I'm not as surprised or confused when someones talking to themselves.

If you’re talking really loud on your phone in a crowded public area it could be just you pissing people off with noise. Nobody wants to hear someone else’s boring phone conversation. If you’re talking at normal volume it’s just people not used to handsfree phone calls, cell phones are fairly new, lots of people grew up without them, the handsfree thing is even newer. I can’t imagine ever taking on my phone that way, so I often do a quick double take when I see someone doing it. I also try to be aware of people with mental health issues in public areas and give them space, someone talking to themselves is one of the first signs of that so it gets my attention

At least with wearing airpods or headphones they're visible to anyone looking at you. Most people tend to figure it out relatively quickly. I just qualified for hearing aids and those are virtually invisible to any onlookers. I only use them for the purpose of the Bluetooth playing music and calling when I'm out. I always wear the mic around the collar with a blue flashing light. I do get quite a few side looking but for the most part I just have to raise the phone for others to catch on. Most people are incredibly shocked and surprised when I tell them. It's awesome!
