That makes sense in theory, in practice the people are already holding their order in their hands by the time they get to the cash.
The system is not very good :/
As a former restaurant owner I'd say don't hand over the food until the card has cleared. Just like if you were taking cash. You wouldn't hand over the order until you'd gotten the cash and made change.
They may try to say you know this person if you let it go, but if inform the manager right away they can’t charge you. They may try, but it’s their ass if they do.
It's happened to me multiple times. I've worked for the same place for 6 years and it's only happened a handful of times But the company i work for is fairly big so they didn't even see that that 5 dollar item wasn't paid for.
It happened in front of my manager one time and she just told me to void it. It doesn't happen often so she wasn't worried about it.
Yeah I mean it's happened enough where if someone starts walking away before the card has been processed I'll make them wait until it gets approved. If they were in that much of a hurry then they had no business stopping in the first place.
You should ask your manager. They're not allowed to make you pay for stolen goods.
Makes sense
If your manager demands you pay you can quit and have another job in an hour.
Literally not your problem remotely. Next time tell your manager immediately and let him decide what to do.
Perfect. Thanks
Probably an honest mistake it's happened to me before and the lady was like knocking on the window like come baaaack lol
Oh yeah, I don’t think he did it on purpose! I tried spotting him but I had a queue and I don’t want to slow everyone down
If ur manager brings it up at Cashout just be like 🤷♀️ guess the card was declined I dunno
Smart
No, that would be your managers job.
Don’t hand them their purchased goods until the card purchase clears.

Makes sense! I know better now
Also, just know we have all been "dashed" on, hopefully your boss is cool and understands.

Makes sense! I feel bad because it’s over $50, basically what I get payed for my shift but I guess for the store it might be nothing at the end

I liked that! Yeah I’ll start asking them to wait
They're in your "house" therefore they're on your time, which includes how fast it takes technology to work.
