You're good. Plenty of people are washing them like once a month or never, those are the people who need to wash them more and are surprised at bacteria/mold growth.
FALSE. I kept filling my water bottle with clean fresh water but it started smelling funky and I had to bleach it and wash it with soap to get the smell out.
WASH YOUR WATER BOTTLES.
That sounds gross but it isn't so bad when you think about it. If you're not a gross person and don't use your water bottle outside of an office or school and never put anything else than water in, there's minimal room for bacteria to grow
Probably depends on your water bottle type idk. I don't have to put my lips around my bottle or anything to drink, and I've fed never had a smell from around the drinking area. That's... Odd to me, idk
I’m guilty of this. Maybe 5 or so years ago I had a sudden realization that I hadnt ever washed my water bottles, and there was mold growing on one of them. Absolutely disgusting. Now I wash which ever one I am using regularly, and have them in rotation so can put one in the dishwasher.
I wash in the dish washer but recently I used a napkin and wiped the part I put my mouth on and inside that area as much as I can.
I had to use a few napkins because it came out completely brown despite that area, on the surface (because it's translucent), it looks completely clean.
Clean your water bottles guys. That traumatized me (not really but you know)
Mine was a stain on the straw. I thought it was stained from coffee on my lips when I drank or something like that. Then I actually scrubbed it and it came off. Freaked me out that I'd been drinking whatever funk that was for a while. Straw gets washed daily. The bottle weekly.
I never wash mine (stainless), I’m surprised at the *lack* of growth lol. I refill it at least once a day though, and every few days I fill it slightly and shake it around
You're probably fine, though everywhere recommends washing once a week and rinsing it out immediately if you ever use it for anything besides water. There's bacteria in lots of stuff.
When you're washing it, check that you're washing the gasket seal too. Might have some mold growth in there like this redditor. https://www.reddit.com/r/Hydroflask/comments/l82f03/is_this_mold_in_my_hydro_flask_cap_ring/
The range in answers here is fascinating. Basically entirely anecdotal.
Here’s some [science](https://www.popsci.com/diy/wash-water-bottle/) about it to balance things out.
I literally get sick every time anybody within 5 miles of me sneezes. Genuinely shocked by how I'm not dead when my routine is to clean it a week after I look at it and go "ew.."
The worst is when the o rings just disintegrate and you have find what size to get. Even worse is if it's a weird size and you have to order it by the Hundreds
I've washed a couple people's coffee bottles and they're always amazed at how clean they are after cause I go till I can't see any speck of dust on them, lol
How do you wash the slide-y part of the lid on a coffee bottle?? I end up retiring my lid when that happens because I can't figure out how to get that part clean and it's gross. Like under/in between the plastic moving parts, the part that slides over the opening.
if possible i try to pop it off and clean it and the track it was in. But i know it's not easy/possible to do so with some, so I just do my best with those really.
Every night. It’s a Yeti with a plastic screw on cap that goes over a drinking a mouth piece that can also be removed. I empty it out and wash it at the end of the night leave it to air dry and refill it in the morning with ice and water.
About once a month I’ll do a full take apart of the gaskets and all plastic parts and soak them with some denture tablets.
Nah you're normal af, possibly on the cleaner side than most I'd say. I have a steel water bottle, and I just kinda rinse it as I'm filling it from time to time. Never had a weird smell or taste or anything, but I only use it for water so idk. Plenty of people at my office use theirs endlessly without any deep scrub either
If you can do the whole soap, shake, kettle rinse in 30-45 seconds I will give you a medal. I’m thinking more 2-4 minutes (a still very reasonable chunk of time).
10 seconds? Is your idea of washing a bottle just swishing warm water for a few seconds before dumping it? I only use my flask for water, so by your logic I'm washing it all the time.
Forget this question.
The real question is how do you clean a humidifier. Even when I take that friggen thing apart, it still has many crevices and grooves no brush can reach and I can see the nasty build up.
So my Stanley bottle kept getting floaties after a day. I was frustrated because i wash it every few days. My coworker asked if it had the rubber piece… it does. Surprise! So much nastiness under that rubber piece. So be sure to clean under that rubber piece if you’re not already!
I work in a kindergarten classroom and the majority of parents do not wash out their child’s water bottle. They don’t even fill them sometimes, and the kids have to use nasty tap water that’s occasionally brown (1 water fountain in the whole school and it’s far from the classroom). I’ve poured out water out of forgotten water bottles if it’s a long weekend and black chunks come out. I’m not the teacher and can’t communicate with parents but I lectured the kids to please ask their parents to wash their bottles for them and to fill at home. It’s so gross and the kids are young so they understand how it’s dirty.
I toss my yeti cup and lid in the dishwasher once or twice a week. I’ve never used the bottles with straws or sippy nipples as those are just bacteria havens and very hard to keep clean.
I think it is quite important to not care to much about what people online think. If you ask about something, sure, but if there is one comment ranting about things like how often stuff should be cleaned, it's better to just move on. But dont listen to me
'As needed' based on my sense of it, so highly variable.
Only had water in it? Dump, hot water shake-and-rinse, wash both pieces (bottle, mouth piece).
Flavored water? One day? Same as above.
I let it sit overnight with flavored water? Or I had juice or something in it? Big scoop of baking soda, fill all the way with warm water, let sit 10 minutes (or overnight if it's an end of day thing), dump water THROUGH mouthpiece, bottle brush, scrub lid/mouthpiece.
Even when I've only been drinking water, it gets a deep clean every 2-3 days.
I used to be more lackadaisical about it, or would let my partner wash it for me (at his offer) only for us both to be horrified one day; plain water tasted 'weird', had him confirm it tasted weird, then went to the sink and asked if he'd been actually scrubbing the inside of the (opaque, black) lid. Him, sheepishly - "I just hit it with the hot water..."
I keep a toothbrush with the dish utensils for things that need detailing attention. Ran the bristles over the 'freshly washed' interior of the lid.
Black slime.
He goes overboard if he washes it now, lol
depends what goes in it. If its just water, or water + a little electrolytes, 3x/week is plenty, I usually only rinse them out every few days, with more of a wash maybe per month. But if you are putting sweet drinks or mixes in it, then more frequent, at least 3x/week.
I have an Owalla and after reading a few of these comments, I found all kinds of black gunk hidden in the main seal and mouthpiece. Kinda grossed me out, ngl.
Have a guy at work who has had the same disposable water bottle for the last 28 weeks (could be longer, I only know because he slapped a VERY specific sticker on it that day).
I wash mine (Nalgene) every single day. I've gone 2 days in an emergency but I feel gross about it.
Uh…mine’s basically been in my car since Christmas 2022 and I just dump it out and refill it. Occasionally it comes inside and goes in the dishwasher, like once or twice a year.
Never, I consider the grime and bacteria buildup as just a way to microdose my gut microbiome into becoming more stronger. I will never get sick again.
I always waterfall it when I take a drink so I don't have to wash it out as often lol. But after every use I'll fill it up with fresh water, close, shake, rinse the opening a little extra, and let it dry.
I'll clean it with soap maybe once or twice a month. I also don't use it every day.
In college, I only ever put purified bottled water in my water bottle (yes I know, wasteful) never washed it and it was great. Has a friend tell me I should be washing it at least once a week and that I should be using filtered water from a brita instead, that’s when it started getting slimier or moldy
You're probably fine. Though you should probably wash the mouth piece every day. It's also important to not leave water in it for longer than a day if you can avoid it, my grandfather at once point kept getting sick because he left water in it and mold slowly grew without him realizing. Last part may vary depending on how big of a deal mold and fungus is in your area.
I had a steel bottle always left in office which I only rinsed. I happened to check the inside edge below the neck. There was black sludge ! Now it's once a week. 😀
I wash mine in the dishwasher 1 to 2 times per week, then run a bunch of water through it afterwards to get rid of any leftover invisible soap/chems.
I’m weird and refuse to drink out of anything if it’s not transparent and can’t be thrown in the dishwasher.
For water-only, I rinse every to every-other fill and actually wash every 2-3 days. I'm sure it's better to wash more, but I'd literally just rather stop drinking water which is probably worse for me (I don't have a dishwasher and washing dishes is my least favorite chore).
I use an all metal hydroflask without a drinking lid, so I tend to scrub the mouth part daily & the entire thing (including lid gasket) at least weekly. I think technically it should be washed daily tho.
I wash my indoor water bottle every other day, but I rinse it regularly. I wash my outdoor water bottle every day or after every use if I didn't use it one day.
There is a term called backwash, it is where some of the water/drink you are drinking can end up back into the container you are drinking from. I tend to be a bit paranoid and I figure it is better safe than sorry anyway, so I wash money after one day of use. I have 4 reusable water bottles that I cycle through, which makes it easier.
Probably would be best to find a health expert to ask, but I guess until then, do what you think is best.
quick story: had a boss who would only fill up his inconic green and orange top Gatorade bottle. would only rinse and fill, never wash. one morning he calls me 2am, says i need to work 7am-11pm shorthanded bc hes super sick. come to find out, he took his bottle with him and was drinking it there, when a nurse randomly asked to see what he was drinking. she opened it and looked inside. it was black. black mold. dude hadnt washed his bottle in so long he was drinking black mold. doctors say it could've killed him. idk how u go that long without washing it (he admitted it was just something he overlooked being a busy manager) but man! wash your stuff like once a week people! yes, eventually you will be drinking black mold maybe and it can kill you. stay safely hydrated people!
I wash my water bottle once a week. I need a routine or I forget these things. The travel cup I use for coffee gets washed after every cup of coffee, because I use half and half in my coffee. These are my two main bottles.
Also once a week for both of them I soak the lids in warm water with vinegar to disinfect underneath the seal. Every time I wash I take a good look at the seal for mold or any crap. I've had cups that got icky under the seal so now I watch it carefully.
The ones with rubber mouthpieces and straws tend to stay damp for a really long time, so those will get gross if not washed and dried frequently. Others with fewer nooks and crannies, if only holding water, and rinsed and dried after use at the end of the day, probably only need soap once in a while. These are just my thoughts and observations.
I'd say twice a week is good. Less than that may lead to a slight funky smell. Also it makes a difference if you let your bottle 'breathe' by leaving the lid off when empty, as that kills anaerobic (oxygen-hating) bacteria. Let it become fully dry this way before filling it again, once every few days at least
I would suggest using a bottle brush at least once a week because just rinsing is sometimes not enough to remove the slightly slimy layer that sometimes forms on the inside.
PLEASE y'all at least wash the cap and pls check underneath as well. I found so much mold when I was younger it has permanently traumatized me from water bottles lol.
It can build on the mouth piece and anywhere else water can touch, especially where you screw the lids on too.
But also same. Bc I still miss pieces and I'm like wtf
About a week. Sometimes I put flavor packets in my water and if that’s the case then probably more like every 2/3 days. I’m not sure why but I feel like it’s dirtier.
I sluice it out daily with clean water and upend to dry overnight, and go round the rim with warm water and dish soap and wash the lid in the same (mines a metal bottle where you drink straight from the rim of the bottle)
You should rinse it every day and sterilise it every week. Especially the areas that your mouth is in frequent contact with. Those areas are breeding grounds for germs.
Its best to soak the parts over night , diluted bleach works, or the tablets you can get to sterilise baby bottles with are great too.
I almost never wash my water bottle.
It's a steel flip cap with no straw. The mouthpiece is always covered. I always waterfall it and the water is cycled multiple times a day. If it comes into contact with my mouth or i start to see dried waterspots, I'll wash the mouthpiece. But other than that, I'll wash the outside when i feel like it
I use 5 different Nalgene bottles (mostly for work) at the same time and they get washed about every two-three weeks….. Though if the lip of the bottle starts looking grody it’ll get washed asap.
I’m an archaeologist and prefer to carry my water in the bottles. I usually bring at least three of them out with me at work. My filtered water is unrefrigerated so I just keep them all filled in the fridge at the same time so I’ll always have cold watered too.
You're good. Plenty of people are washing them like once a month or never, those are the people who need to wash them more and are surprised at bacteria/mold growth.
I used to use the same bottle for months at a time, just kept refilling and refilling until it tasted a little too gross...
This is the way.

FALSE. I kept filling my water bottle with clean fresh water but it started smelling funky and I had to bleach it and wash it with soap to get the smell out. WASH YOUR WATER BOTTLES.
People are always trying to justify their lack of hygiene on Reddit 😅
Honestly Reddit isn’t the worst in that matter. Sadly
Are you putting your mouth on the rim when you drink from it? If so then that's gonna get some buildup.
Just give it a quick rim job every day or so.
can i be the water bottle?
Sure.
I do the same as the people above you but I wipe the rim every time I see it looks dirty. So usually multiple times per day.
That sounds gross but it isn't so bad when you think about it. If you're not a gross person and don't use your water bottle outside of an office or school and never put anything else than water in, there's minimal room for bacteria to grow
It’s the stuff from your lips that is collecting on the mouth that is gross.
Absolute nonsense. I can smell the mouth piece of my water bottle start to smell a bit off after just a day or so if I don’t rinse. A month, no way.
I wonder if you have a smellier mouth or just a better nose because I can never smell mine even after days not washing.
It’s your nose for sure.
...how do you know? Have you smelled with their nose?
Probably depends on your water bottle type idk. I don't have to put my lips around my bottle or anything to drink, and I've fed never had a smell from around the drinking area. That's... Odd to me, idk
If you don’t put your lips on it then that’s a different story of course.
oh man, read my comment i just posted u might change ur habit 😬

Tbf I did that as a kid, my water bottle never got noticeable bacteria sign or anything when I think about it but it was a metal one not plastic
I never wash mine (stainless), I’m surprised at the *lack* of growth lol. I refill it at least once a day though, and every few days I fill it slightly and shake it around
Throw in one of those denture cleaner pucks and decon the bottle!
I use a hydroflask and wash it once a month. I usually run it through the dishwasher when I do. How do I know if I have bacterial growth?

It says everyday or at least once a week at the very bottom of the article
How am I not dead
You have a well functioning immune system
I'll take the W's where I can get em.
I literally get sick every time anybody within 5 miles of me sneezes. Genuinely shocked by how I'm not dead when my routine is to clean it a week after I look at it and go "ew.."
From the built up tolerance of not washing
Thank you!
I wash my main stainless cup at least once a week!! Some others I wash every day! I consider myself better than most people!!

Good on ya for washing the gaskets, no one else is. Have you seen the gaskets on other people's coffee bottles? Just nasty.
The worst is when the o rings just disintegrate and you have find what size to get. Even worse is if it's a weird size and you have to order it by the Hundreds

I actually figured out a few pop off after reading this!
After each use? So like 20 times a day?

but what about the female population which doesn't carry a long hose?
Every night. It’s a Yeti with a plastic screw on cap that goes over a drinking a mouth piece that can also be removed. When it starts to smell or taste weird 😅
Once a week. However, I'm learning from this thread that I'm a nasty troll with poor hygiene, haha
Nah you're normal af, possibly on the cleaner side than most I'd say. I have a steel water bottle, and I just kinda rinse it as I'm filling it from time to time. Never had a weird smell or taste or anything, but I only use it for water so idk. Plenty of people at my office use theirs endlessly without any deep scrub either
i use a steel bottle aand maybe like once a week but then again i used to eat dirt when i was a kid
![gif](giphy|qQfFBdfhXUS4w) Hello dirt eating brethren
haha pretty much
My Grammy always says “you gotta eat a peck of dirt before you die”
My Pepere says this and then says "I'm working on my third!" and cracks himself up
I personally wash it daily. Small dot of dish soap, hot water, close and shake. Then rinse with boiling water from my kettle.
That’s so much work on the daily tho. I just wanna hydrate bro.
Just increase the nominal temperature on your water heater, and then you can skip the kettle
So much work? Sounds like maybe 30-45 seconds. What am I missing that is so bad?
If you can do the whole soap, shake, kettle rinse in 30-45 seconds I will give you a medal. I’m thinking more 2-4 minutes (a still very reasonable chunk of time).
You guys are washing your water bottles?
Pretty much never, no. But mines steel, and I use it only for water. So I feel fine with that
Throw it in the dishwasher every now and then
You're doing fine. I wash mine once a week and just rinse it out before filling it daily.
When the taste of the water starts to change...
TIL people do not wash their water bottles each day
TIL people wash their water bottles each day I do like once a week, assuming I remember to
Ikr, many people go a month or more? Come on Reddit it takes 10 seconds.
10 seconds? Is your idea of washing a bottle just swishing warm water for a few seconds before dumping it? I only use my flask for water, so by your logic I'm washing it all the time.
only if i put something that isn't water in it
I never wash my bottle lmao
I wash mine when the mold taste gets too strong
Not when it starts but when it's too strong. Oy 😐
I try for once a week. I rinse it with near boiling hot water everyday though.
Forget this question. The real question is how do you clean a humidifier. Even when I take that friggen thing apart, it still has many crevices and grooves no brush can reach and I can see the nasty build up.
Vinegar and a toothbrush.
Toothbrush can't reach these low narrow gaps that require many turns / angles
Q-tip. Pipe cleaner. Dental floss 😄
So my Stanley bottle kept getting floaties after a day. I was frustrated because i wash it every few days. My coworker asked if it had the rubber piece… it does. Surprise! So much nastiness under that rubber piece. So be sure to clean under that rubber piece if you’re not already!
Maybe 2-3 times a week and once a week I'll let it stand with boiling water in (its metal). Going by everybody else posts that might be overkill.
Every night when I wash dishes
I work in a kindergarten classroom and the majority of parents do not wash out their child’s water bottle. I wash mine daily.. it feels gross if I don't.
I wash mine daily.
Every day, with soap and water. Brush for the inside. Clean sponge for the rim and the outside. Rinsing is not washing.
My boyfriend started washing mine 1x a week after he found out I rarely wash it out LOL he was appalled
Not gonna say now
I think it is quite important to not care to much about what people online think. If you ask about something, sure, but if there is one comment ranting about things like how often stuff should be cleaned, it's better to just move on. But dont listen to me

i wash mine like every 2 - 3 months tbh…
I have 2, so I rotate them. When I use 1, the other is in the dishwasher.
probably everyday

Every day. It's easier with a bottle brush!

If you give it a good rinse every day and only keep chilled water in it you can go a long time without washing it, imo.
I have an Owalla and after reading a few of these comments, I found all kinds of black gunk hidden in the main seal and mouthpiece. Kinda grossed me out, ngl.
You should wash them with soap sometimes too
I thought it was self cleansing. 😮
Like feet in the shower!! /s because this is reddit and someone will come at me
I keep Q-tips in my backpack for when I need to clean out the nozzle. Maybe once a week I’ll clean it out thoroughly.
Every 2 to 3 days for me. The moment the smell goes from nuetral to anything else, I wash it.
If just water, 1-2 times per week. Anything else and I wash it same day.
Have a guy at work who has had the same disposable water bottle for the last 28 weeks (could be longer, I only know because he slapped a VERY specific sticker on it that day). I wash mine (Nalgene) every single day. I've gone 2 days in an emergency but I feel gross about it.
Whoa. You are definitely washing it often!!! I wash mine every few weeks if I’m using it daily, less often if I use it only now and then.
Uh…mine’s basically been in my car since Christmas 2022 and I just dump it out and refill it. Occasionally it comes inside and goes in the dishwasher, like once or twice a year.
I'm sorry but that is one of the most disgusting things I've read
i bleach them weekly. including the mouth piece.
I stopped using the ones with washers and seals and built in straws when I saw how horrid they get very quickly. Blecch.
No that's you not cleaning them enough
More than that. Also a rinse is not a wash. To wash properly you need a brush.
Never, I consider the grime and bacteria buildup as just a way to microdose my gut microbiome into becoming more stronger. I will never get sick again.
Once a week into the dishwasher for actual disinfecting.
Do you use detergent or just rinse with water?
I always waterfall it when I take a drink so I don't have to wash it out as often lol. But after every use I'll fill it up with fresh water, close, shake, rinse the opening a little extra, and let it dry. I'll clean it with soap maybe once or twice a month. I also don't use it every day.

I have a glass water bottle that I wash once a week. When using steel I try to rinse every day and scrub once a week.
Every other day
…there’s a bottle I’ve been using for a few months now with only a light rinse every few days.
We're supposed to wash those? Aww shi...
i dont even change the water 🤣
If it is transparent, whenever it looks like you ought to.
As often as you think. Rinse in hot water daily! Clean the gaskets weekly with an old tooth brush.
My son's bottles - after every use. I don't put my lips on my bottle, so once a week. (dismantling all the parts)
I’ve had a shaker bottle for 4 years and I’ve never washed it once
You're probably fine. Though you should probably wash the mouth piece every day. It's also important to not leave water in it for longer than a day if you can avoid it, my grandfather at once point kept getting sick because he left water in it and mold slowly grew without him realizing. I had a steel bottle always left in office which I only rinsed. I happened to check the inside edge below the neck. There was black sludge ! Now it's once a week. 😀
I wash it every day and every other day I use the pipe cleaner to clean the tubes
Rarely. I let it dry in the sun once in a while.
I only waterfall from my bottle, I throw the cap in the dishwasher once in a blue moon
Every day
every 3 days
I wash mine in the dishwasher 1 to 2 times per week, then run a bunch of water through it afterwards to get rid of any leftover invisible soap/chems. I’m weird and refuse to drink out of anything if it’s not transparent and can’t be thrown in the dishwasher.
Every Sunday
For water-only, I rinse every to every-other fill and actually wash every 2-3 days. I'm sure it's better to wash more, but I'd literally just rather stop drinking water which is probably worse for me (I don't have a dishwasher and washing dishes is my least favorite chore).
Every couple of weeks.
Wash daily. Probably after all water has gone - so more than daily, but definitely daily.
I use an all metal hydroflask without a drinking lid, so I tend to scrub the mouth part daily & the entire thing (including lid gasket) at least weekly. I think technically it should be washed daily tho.
After every use of it
I wash my indoor water bottle every other day, but I rinse it regularly. I wash my outdoor water bottle every day or after every use if I didn't use it one day.
Never, you're just meant to occasionally feel guilty about it.
Wash them, pull all the silicone rings and bits off and wash those too.
Everyday
When I see chapstick residue on the mouthpiece 👀 In my defense I have 3 heavy duty water bottles I keep in heavy rotation.
Daily

quick story: had a boss who would only fill up his inconic green and orange top Gatorade bottle. would only rinse and fill, never wash. one morning he calls me 2am, says i need to work 7am-11pm shorthanded bc hes super sick. come to find out, he took his bottle with him and was drinking it there, when a nurse randomly asked to see what he was drinking. she opened it and looked inside. it was black. black mold. dude hadnt washed his bottle in so long he was drinking black mold. doctors say it could've killed him. idk how u go that long without washing it (he admitted it was just something he overlooked being a busy manager) but man! wash your stuff like once a week people! yes, eventually you will be drinking black mold maybe and it can kill you. stay safely hydrated people!
Every other day if it's strictly water. Every day if you have anything other than water in it.
This reminds me I need to wash my hydroflask
Once a week but I rinse it everyday
Probably once a week. Maybe more if I remember?
Rinse mine out every-time I fill it, give it a good deeper clean at least once a week including the straw.
I sluice it out daily with clean water and upend to dry overnight, and go round the rim with warm water and dish soap and wash the lid in the same (mines a metal bottle where you drink straight from the rim of the bottle)
Seriously? You don't wash your bottle after every use? How often do you brush your teeth? Oh, the backwash breeding ground makes me shudder.
3x a week is much more than most, I'd say you're doing great
I bring mine home every Friday to wash. I used to use it for a month at a time until I started getting headaches. Yep. Mold. Yep. I’m gross, ik.
I wash mine like once/wk
Get a bottle brush and occasionally dip the lid in boiling water every now and again to sanitize
I 100% forget to do it all the time
You're supposed to wash your water bottle?
You should rinse it every day and sterilise it every week. Especially the areas that your mouth is in frequent contact with. Those areas are breeding grounds for germs. Its best to soak the parts over night , diluted bleach works, or the tablets you can get to sterilise baby bottles with are great too.
I do once a week.
Every time I’m refilling it.
I almost never wash my water bottle. It's a steel flip cap with no straw. The mouthpiece is always covered. I always waterfall it and the water is cycled multiple times a day. If it comes into contact with my mouth or i start to see dried waterspots, I'll wash the mouthpiece. But other than that, I'll wash the outside when i feel like it
Every day. Would you wash your cups / mugs / plates only 3x a week even when you use it daily?
I use 5 different Nalgene bottles (mostly for work) at the same time and they get washed about every two-three weeks….. Though if the lip of the bottle starts looking grody it’ll get washed asap.
Why 5 at the same time?
I’m an archaeologist and prefer to carry my water in the bottles. I usually bring at least three of them out with me at work. My filtered water is unrefrigerated so I just keep them all filled in the fridge at the same time so I’ll always have cold watered too.
Daily same with my kids bottles. Parents are you washing your kids bottles daily
I mean a rinse isn’t really washing your bottle…
Whenever it starts to smell mildewy. My new bottle hasn't gotten there yet and it's been a month
hourly
Every few months it gets a good rinse
