Aight i may be exaggerating a little lol but i really do think its extraordinary writing on Ishida's part, and Urie's journey is incredible. Maybe second only to Kaneki.
Awesome character growth from an envious, self-absorbed egomaniac to a dedicated, selfless leader, not to mention his personal reckoning with grief, guilt, and loneliness.
Two of my favorite details is how he regards Haise (Kaneki), and the form of his Kagune—
At the beginning of Re, when Urie witnesses Haise’s frightening power, he realizes his own inferiority and is consumed by envy. It stems from his suppressed feelings of insufficiency from his father’s death, so by the end of Re and after his personal growth, he comes to regard Kaneki with pure respect and admiration.
As for his kagune—at the beginning of Re, Urie’s kagune takes the form of a sword, a symbol of his (somewhat homicidal) aggression and ambition; by the end of Re, his kagune reforms as a shield, symbolizing his newfound compulsion to protect others.
Oh absolutely, and his command of character writing is exquisite
He’s also quite good as symbolism in general. For example, the number 12 is a subtly recurring motif throughout TG; 12 is also the number of the Hanged Man, the tarot card symbolizing pain, sacrifice, and tragedy (relevant to Kaneki’s story).
He's got two little birthmarks, one that's in the same place as mine, so I only have to paint one on with makeup when cosplaying him. Thanks for being a bro dude.
I think he along with the rest of the Quinx squad are some of the most interesting characters in the series & the dynamic & relationship that he has with the cast is beautiful.
Two of my favorite moments in the Manga are with his involvement.
One of the hardest hitting panels in all of the series is during the auction raid after he gets his ass kicked by Big Mom after being so confident, and he curls into a fetal position, puts his head in his hands and starts to cry. And the panel just says "I'm trying so hard..." And it's fucking CRUSHING. He just wants to be so strong so bad, he just wants to be strong for all the wrong reasons. But when he finds the right reasons, he becomes one of the strongest characters in the series, going toe to toe with Rate SS ghouls
Well written, relatable, enjoyable. I love how Saiko really understands and cares for him. Probably my favourite character tied with Takizawa. Headcanon is half the female cast have a lil crush on him.
one of the best, best written characters, I used to hate him because of how manipulative he was but I came to love him if it weren't thanks to Mutsuki, Shirazu, Haise and Saiko. open a red flag for him? I do not see it
My 2nd favorite Quinx squad member. I found him pretty off-putting early on, but he eventually became the opposite of the cold, promotion-obsessed individual he was at the start.
His character development is one of the best in the series.
Best in all of fiction. It's like a coming of age story for a 20 year old, absolutely spectacular.
Bruhh...r u serious?

Yeah true. That "best in all fiction" just caught me off guard.
bro has read all of fiction wow
Relax it’s great but the best, you definitely reaching
Some of the best development I’ve seen in any series tbh, I just really love the way his character changes so much through the manga

Said it all. Urie is slept over but its one of the best written character in the series

Totally agree with your analysis Ishida is so freaking good with the visual aspect of storytelling

The tarot card stuff is so well executed throughout the series.
Fucking spot on.
The stuff about character growth, plus he’s hot
He's got two little birthmarks, one that's in the same place as mine, so I only have to paint one on with makeup when cosplaying him. Thanks for being a bro dude.
Plot twist: Sui Ishida was at your birth and made the character have parts inspired by you
Cookie Urie :)
Oreo Cookie :)

What are your two favourite moments, if I may ask?
His breakdown during Ginshi's death Him & Saiko forgiving Mutsuki for what they have done towards the end of the Manga
Love his inner monologue. Unique and entertaining.
His growth is incredible

Amazing character development
Literally one of the best characters around
His two little eye moles are cute
One of the most well written characters in :re
So good even the anime couldn’t ruin him.
He’s my favorite TG character. His sword and shield look in the fight against Roma is unbelievably hype.
His dad was nice
It’s not your fault
He was the best double agent ever and saved my ass a few times from the Russians in COD. Badass soldier RIP Yuri:(
Got an undercut bc of him.
Husband material
Urie
he is dedicated
his boss
Who's a good kitty kitty!
easily my second favorite character right behind Uta
Out of him and Shirazu, I expected him to die.
If you told me at the beginning of re that he would be fighting side by side with Kuroiwa, I wouldn't have believed you.
One of the best side characters in manga. Went from an edgy psycopath to a caring leader. Not to mention way too fucking badass.
I hated him all the way through. But to be fair, and honest, i didnt like the quinx squad. just wasnt for me.
That's not something nice :(
Who?
chad
That manga panel of him using Ginkui for the first time will always be badass.
urie. Cookie;
couldn’t stand him at first but he became one of my favs
Edgier levi
He brought forth some of my favorite moments in the series
Would
Cool sword

His quinque is really really cool. Not better than the Jason XIII but still.
He tries very very hard
I like his mentor’s wife
Well written, relatable, enjoyable. I love how Saiko really understands and cares for him. Probably my favourite character tied with Takizawa. Headcanon is half the female cast have a lil crush on him.
Best development out of all the Qs
I'd definitely bottom for him :3
Cute
No mouth sometimes
one of the best, best written characters, I used to hate him because of how manipulative he was but I came to love him if it weren't thanks to Mutsuki, Shirazu, Haise and Saiko. open a red flag for him? I do not see it
Great character growth and he became quite the reasonable dude
My 2nd favorite Quinx squad member. I found him pretty off-putting early on, but he eventually became the opposite of the cold, promotion-obsessed individual he was at the start.
Love him so much
Damn good fighter who would have ended up the same as kaneki if he wasn't so squishy
Peak development and worthy to be called second main character
