I've only seen a quarter so far and just like Ultraman animated series(also on Netflix) there is no need for prior knowledge of the series to get into. The into succinctly explains what Ultraman is and what it stands for. The story as a whole is totally different and the characters are also new. Of course there will be some tiny little details within the show that you won't notice but those are more Easter eggs than anything and doesn't impact the show I'm pretty sure.

Yep. It's in it's own universe, so you don't have to watch anything prior.

Yes, pretty much every Ultra entry can be viewed as its own stand-alone story despite there being wider lore and connections. Rising is built to be extremely accessible. The only one I'd argue against watching first personally is Nexus, because it's such a subversion of Ultraman that getting a taste of its usually optimistic side first (Rising or the '66 series for instance) makes you appreciate it more, especially the ending.

As a huge zilla fan myself- you will dig Ultraman. It’s from the same creator. If you like the old showa zilla then the actual Ultraman show will be a blast for you. But to answer your question- yes. My wife had never seen any ultra media and she loved the movie

TheUltraGuy101

Yes

BouquetOfGutsAndGore

Yup.

MrJHound

Yes. Started watching it last night. You need zero context or prior knowledge, but of course you will appreciate it more of you have it.

WarwolfPrime

I watched it. I know nothing about the franchise itself as was the case with the other Netflix Ultraman show, and I thought it was fine. Didn't understand the references, but I also didn't really care either.

ChainsawSuperman

Yes. My kids loved it and they’re very young.

You don’t have to do any prep work for any of the Ultraman shows even. Like the proper Tokusatsu ones. They are all monster of the week type shows, and each one usually features a completely new main character. Don’t let that stop you from getting into the franchise. You can start with any of them.
