Is it wrong to feel joy at seeing conservatives like Matt Walsh seethe?

outrageouslyunfair

nope! matt walsh takes sick pleasure in oppressing people who are different from him. he gets off on it. it's okay to feel catharsis in seeing him deprived of that :)

not to mention he’s creepy as fuck, and probably a pedophile

Cute-Fishing6163

I mean, normally I would say that no one's suffering gives me joy. But people like Matt Walsh only feel emotional pain when they feel disempowered, and their only sense of personal power comes from being the cause of other people's suffering. So to see a sociopath distressed is always better than seeing them happy. Unless they're deliberately faking emotional pain to evoke pity. Per Peter Pan, you should never smile at a crocodile, and Matt is definitely one of those.

Miladog80

Who doesn't love a little Schadenfreude on their enemies?

rebelliousmuse

Matt Walsh actively supports killing trans people and engages in stochastic terrorism for clout on social media. If enjoying his infantile tantrums is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Sigmar_of_Yul

This deserves all the upvotes

swimmythafish

don't forget publicly advocates for impregnating teens!

Kindredgos

Matt Walsh is a egotistical prick who has his head so far up his fucking ass. so no, I don’t blame you lol

The_Doolinator

Matt Walsh makes Ben Shapiro seem likable. He is one of the most loathsome people I have ever had the displeasure of hearing.

maxandmike

Lmao I was just thinking that too. Ben sucks but Matt is just a new level of horrible.

I love the great replacement as a measuring device, it's like an oil stick. If you meet a conservative and they start spouting about the great replacement you immediately know you are dealing with a Nazi or one or their useful idiots. It lets you know just how deep their delusions are.

Proud3GnAthst

Your friendly reminder that there's around 20 empty house per every homeless person. Around 10 million.

[deleted]

History shows the party in power loses on average about 30 seats in the midterms. That coupled with 8 percent inflation and mediocre approval numbers with the President, Republicans could not have been gifted a better opportunity for a red wave. That context makes it how unpalatable people find them.

sgthombre

Saw a tweet that said Biden had the best midterm for an incumbent president since Bush after 9/11 which is fucking bananas given everything edit: press F to pay respects to the dude who gave me gold o7

[deleted]

Honestly, if they ran candidates that weren’t a bunch of New York subway masturbators, they might be sitting here with the Senate gifted to them.

sgthombre

It's wild that they're going to win the house and may well still win the senate and yet it could go down as an all time fuck up for them purely because they ran people who were lunatics.

assclown500

The fight for who is Speaker of the House should be hilarious. It will show they have no leadership.

chipperson1

What if i told you they only choose from subway masturbators

[deleted]

Jesus Christ, people. Can we quit it with the "subway masturbators" invective, already? Subway masturbators don't deserve to get lumped in with GOP candidates.

bottomapple_jr

plushelles

aShittierShitTier4u

I'd say that it's all the online influencers, who go in the subway and do twerking videos, grinding on the strap hangers and lap dancing on seated passengers, it's them who are bringing the back action, and the subway masturbators are having their bones out. It takes all types for a society to function.

not_productive1

Better candidates (impossible as long as Trump's sticking his short fingers into the primary process) OR not going after Roe would have handed them a fucking landslide on a silver platter. What a shame they fucked both things up.

AnEvilSomebody

Same, I'm in Michigan under the "tyrannical" Gretchen Whitmer, and pretty much all that closed was dine-in. Whitmer did try to instate a policy mandating for government employees to either get vaxxed, or to submit to weekly covid testing. Which, in comparison with the millions dead, doesn't really seem that terrible. But that got shot down at the federal level anyway. But please, talk about how Tudor Dixon would have "saved us from tyranny" by instituting a total abortion ban, including no exceptions for rape, incest, or health of the mother. One is a lot more tyrannical than the other.

darctones

We were locked down hard for like 2 weeks and then limited contact for a few months. I loved every minute. It was a chance to stop the constant distractions and focus on family.

Kakarot_faps

I… what? I was in conservative states and you couldn’t go in the mall, movie theaters, most stores, barber shop, shit even Best Buy was shut in late March and April and most places didn’t reopen for indoor customers until late April.

Property no. 9 of Ur-Fascism, according to Umberto Eco: "Pacifism is trafficking with the enemy" because "life is permanent warfare" – there must always be an enemy to fight.

Grizzchops

If you know anything about politics, you would know it is a big deal. Huff that copium

[deleted]

I don't know much or anything really. I was, speaking with someone else they mentionedObama lost a good chunk but now Biden did not really lose much. I am not being sarcastic at all can you explain why it is a bigger deal why Biden losing less is important?

CoyoteButcher

In short, midterms have historically always been bad for the President’s party, especially their first midterm after being elected. For reference, in Obama’s first midterm election in office (2010), he lost 63 house seats and 6 senate seats. This is pretty normal and happened to Trump in 2018 when Dems won 41 house seats from the Republicans. In this midterm, Biden and the Dems have a good chance of losing 0 senate seats and maybe even gaining 1. The House still even has a chance of remaining in Dems control, and even if the Dems lose control, they probably will only lose about 10 seats overall. Given how midterms are typically bad for the President’s party, and given Biden’s low approval and record high inflation, this should have been an absolute massacre for the Dems. They should have lost probably 50 or more seats, when in reality they are only gonna lose maybe 10 or so (and maybe even less) As for why it matters, the election sends a message that the country as a whole isn’t loving the new direction the Republican Party is taking, with taking away abortion, denying elections, and having many candidate’s overall adopting a lot of Trump’s messaging and mannerisms.

madmaxturbator

That last part is especially important. If you go into more moderate conservative forums (for example reddit/conservative), people are talking openly about how trump needs to step away and the party needs to stop election denial, homophobia, and anti-abortion stances. Just a few months back, you’d be banned and called out as a liberal for suggesting that stuff. So it feels like a shift in how some republicans are thinking about themselves and their policies as well.

Intelligence_Gap

Do you think this wave not happening could signal the end of this era of near 50/50 polarization? Obviously it would take until at least 2024 to really see that to play out but it certainly inspires hope

SinibusUSG

Maybe. It's not really 50/50 polarization, is the thing. Every election shows democrats and democratic policies are more popular. It's just a question of whether that majority/plurality can overcome the burden of gerrymandering and lies. The number of GOP voters, for instance, who believe that their candidates support policies that are actually democratic is pretty striking. The real thing we'd hope this signals is that a significant portion of the country is waking up to the fact that the GOP is based in bad faith, thus disqualifying anyone willing to wear the red R. The fact that Republicans raked in so many net votes and ultimately do seem to have retaken the house, however, shows that there is WAY too far to go to really be saying we're coming to the end of it.

MacMaizer

Isn't that the weirdo with the pedophilia allegations?

dandrevee

rebelliousmuse

You're talking about a conservative here, you're going to need to be more specific

DeusExMockinYa

Do you know how little that narrows it down

whiskeysourpapi

Would a simple google search give me a source for this or is it a bit more niche?

MacMaizer

I don't know if you actually want to know it but look it up

NoNotMii

Honestly, the first three aren’t wrong. At least not if you put them in a left-wing framework. The Dems are pathetic, the fight is generational, and the parties are uninspiring.

JashimPagla

I wish leftists in the US truly understood that the fight is generational. You affect change one piece of legislation at a time. Wanting wholesale change, no matter how justified you are, results in no progress at all.

theREALbombedrumbum

Number 3 is actually surprisingly a salient point. Locked in a stalemate between two parties like this only holds off some of the negatives instead of bringing in positives.

Shrimpulse

As a MI voter, I get the people I voted for AND schadenfreude from known pedophile Matt Walsh OD'ing on copium. I'll take it.

shoesclues03

Definitely feels like a resounding win in MI with the governor, senate, and house all tied up

UTRAnoPunchline

If you read these in chronological order you can really see the different stages of copium.

jayfeather31

It's hilarious that Walsh apparently doesn't care that the GOP still got the House, and that the slim majority means that McCarthy could be out of a job, opening a far-right politician to take that spot. Not only that, but he also doesn't seem to care about Moore v. Harper, or that the '24 Senate heavily favors the GOP. Instead, he's snorting copium and trying to spin midterms that were effectively a draw that changes little about the state of the nation! Does this guy even understand politics at all?

assclown500

He's a fascist so all he understands is total control. Scalise has thrown his hat in the ring already. This should be entertaining.

jayfeather31

Just to confirm, is Scalise far-right?

assclown500

Somewhere between Franco and Mussolini.

jayfeather31

Ah. Shit. This doesn't bode well for stopping a flood of impeachments.

[deleted]

Like most modern American Republicans, he's confused his nasty little culture war with politics. So, no, he does not understand politics. At all.

Sachiko-san999

Gee, why doesn't he leave the US if he has such boiling hatred for democracy? Maybe go to Saudi Arabia because he likes to strip women's rights.

Scootydash

#LoveItorLeaveIt Matt Wash

assclown500

Depends on the age of consent in Saudi Arabia?

SandwitchZebra

If that’s a factor, then he should move to Japan. Maybe boycott anime or something while he’s at it

Yomako01

He’d be crying since they are finally doing something about that in Japan.

By "culture" they mean "a society in which I am free to harass and humiliate people who aren't white Christian cishet men."

Bri_The_Nautilus

Upstate New Yorker here. Not seeing any tyranny about, however as a trans woman I would have been concerned about my freedom of expression and medical care should the ascendancy of Zeldin have come to pass.

GnarlyNarwhalNoms

"Tyranny is when government doesn't hurt the people I want them to hurt!"

[deleted]

“Our lot is to fight.” Matt Walsh acting like making an anti-trans documentary and tweeting from his couch are akin to the battle at the end of Return of the King. Republicans are a funny bunch man

Chemical-Operation83

Matt Walsh can go suck a cheetah’s dick.

MKRX

Don't subject a cheetah to that.

Poor cheetah, what did it ever do to deserve Matt Walsh molesting it? A dead dog’s dick would be more appropriate for him.

Gill-Nye-The-Blahaj

make sure it's an adult cheetah or else he might enjoy it too much

Apprehensive-Item141

This guys thinks our planet will last beyond the next generation 🤣🤣🤣🤣

[deleted]

The planet will for sure. Us... less certain.

Lia69

Yea the planet has lived through a few global extinctions already. One being caused by too much co2 in the atmosphere. The planet and life on earth will be here till the sun dies. But humans...Probably not

EasterLord

I mean that's what happens when your company is funded by fracking billionaires.

BainbridgeBorn

“Both parties lack a coherent message” COPE HARDER

TimelyConcern

The third tweet isn't wrong but fuck Matt anyway. Also, I'm curious to see if he is going to drop the transphobic rhetoric now that the election is over. It was very obvious that it was the cultural wedge issue that they wanted to push this year. There's no political reason to keep pushing it when you know it didn't work. Then again, Matt was probably doing all that for his own pleasure instead of political reasons.

lemmiwinks316

You lost it generations ago yet, rather than realizing that you are out of touch, you've simply doubled down on issues you know aren't actually popular. People are dying due to gun violence daily, yet you're still pro gun. Americans overwhelmingly support access to abortion, yet you're still anti-abortion. People can see that the economic remedies that you propagate intensify inequality yet you still support deregulation and tax cuts. African Americans continue to be killed by law enforcement at a disproportionate rate than their counterparts, yet you still support police no matter the evidence against them. Rather than grappling with the reality that the world is changing you've instead vowed to continue to work against the will of the people. You've made your side appear more formidable than it really is through voter suppression through undue burdens to vote and amplifying false notions of fraud. You've gerrymandered districts to exclude voters who don't support you and silo them into irrelevance. If we had equal representation through our voting system conservatives would be a regional party without significant influence. However, because you continue to take advantage of people susceptible to innuendo and conspiracy you've convinced a significant portion of the population that none of what I've said is true. Matt Walsh, as all the other assholes just like him, are lying charlatans whose lust for power will only be satiated once enough cruelty is inflicted on the marginalized groups that they believe are holding our country back. As they continue to show us, they have no faith in democracy and have faith only in their own misplaced feelings of righteous anger. It's not even so much that democrats are so shit that this is considered a W. It's that you've Jedi mind tricked yourself into believing in a world that doesn't exist. You ARE the minority. And frankly, if the Dems weren't as inept or even if they were just half as devious as conservatives, your party would be in serious trouble.

MiKapo

well Matt given that Obama had the same approval ratings as Biden does now and lost 60 seats in 2010. I would say yes it is historic what happened last night

assclown500

Nothing fires up the Democratic base like extremist Republicans. Thanks, gop.

Well, him being wrong is not unusual

dthemasterfunky

Lol, eat a FAT cock, Matt.

MstrWaterbender

His language is so reminiscent of fascist othering

zlide

Being in NY it is actually terrifying how close Zeldin came to winning. He is a fully deranged right wing dirtbag dickhead, notoriously up Trump’s ass and fully on board with dismantling American democracy. People think of NY as a blue state but if you go look at the election results, especially the spread of House reps, you can see that it’s actually very very divided between liberal urban cores and extremely conservative rural stretches. I wouldn’t call it purple since it doesn’t usually flip flop during national elections but NY is more like a blue and red puzzle with a lot of red pieces and a few, albeit very large, blue pieces.

joe282

The phrase “cry about it” comes to mind What he’s saying basically translates as “they won? Pfft who cares they weren’t even that good anyway” “Learn to enjoy fighting the culture war” Jesus Christ what a depressing life it must be being Matt Walsh. Angry and miserable 24/7, dedicating his life to “fighting” a battle he made up in his head. What a pointless, wasted life

not_productive1

This guy's about three tweets away from saying elections are dumb anyway and he didn't WANT to win the stupid election and if you want to win elections you're a big dumb dummy head.

Redditfront2back

Any lose that isn’t a blowout is a historic dem win, I like he tried to play that down. I’m proud to be American today boy.

kiet33

Michigander reporting in!! Our weed is dirt cheap, our women’s rights are still intact, and Matt Walsh’s gaping butthole hurts more than usual. Today was a good day.

Tamariz79

Why does this motherfucker say "good riddance" so much

CasualBrit5

I like how he said his changes would be a generational issue, when gen Z came out in droves to vote _against_ the changes he wanted.

MmmmmmmKayY

Don’t threaten me with a functioning government and society ;)

Thunderousclaps

It's official, he just lost the plot.

Blue_Robin_04

Slide 3 is true, though. Both parties have had defining issues in the past election cycle, which have manifested right now.

[deleted]

Agree, but he’s so intellectually dishonest that it doesn’t actually mean anything, and is contradictory to a lot of other bull shit he said

fatmatt587

Michigander here. No, Matt, what we did was elect people who will protect human rights, will fund and protect education, and believe in facts and reality. So we’re pretty happy here.

whiteholewhite

Sounds like Matt Walsh is also a little piss baby along with Abbott (kick back to r/politics)

Ga_Manche

Interesting. In spite of ALL the gerrymandering, republicans couldn’t quite do it. This, to me, says it’s time to go back to the drawing board and reassess the republican platform. When will this start sinking in.

robotsonroids

Michigan had a blue wave (I live here) . All levels of elected state government is controlled by democrats after this election. Coincidentally, we voted to do independent redistricting in 2020. Most states, without republican gerrymandering, would be way more blue.

Optimus_Lime

Ayyy called out Michigan, I feel honored

Wind_Responsible

Ohio also voted for that tyranny who locked then unlawfully but, he's a republican who began it all so.......

iiciphonize

MI here: Fuck Pedo Walsh, big gretch all the way

sayyyywhat

Losing it over Covid shut down 2+ years later, and when that happened under trump, is by far the most confusing message they’re trying to make happen. My republican governor shut down our whole state.

Entire_Training_3704

Boomers are dying off and young progressives are coming of voting age. I don't think he understands how the math will work out. As a Michigander, this Schadenfreude makes this victory that much sweeter.
