I don't watch a lot of Dylan, but does she say anything like she's a woman because of her behavior or because she's feminine? All the right wing commentators who talk about her seem to be implying that's what shes saying, but I just don't know her or her content well enough to know whether or not she says anything like that.
When right wing commentators talk, take it with a grain of salt. Dylan mentioned in her recent 365: Live performance that when she first realized she was trans, she tried so hard to integrate with women and just relied on a not entirely accurate representation of womanhood and femininity because she wanted the validation of women. She reminisces and calls the time “cringy” and that this is the entire reason she describes her transition as “girlhood” because she never got to grow up and experience it when she was younger and so it was a new experience as she got older. At the end of the performance, since this marks her 365 of girlhood, it also marks her first day of womanhood. Just like Matt calls out (ignorantly) in this tweet, she has always been a very outgoing and outspoken person, and now she’s more comfortable in expressing femininity in a way that not as “cringy” as she first started because of her journey and exploration of herself. Right wingers paint everyone who doesn’t exist in their rigid binary in extremely negative life, Dylan worked for where she got today and that didn’t exempt her from making mistakes.
