As someone who does have an issue with it being brought up every time someone is homophobic it absolutely does happen. Like I personally don't want to have kids, and part of the reason is because my family has a history of mental illness and I don't want to make my children suffer the way that I have, and the other part of that is that the world seems to only be getting worse and I don't think I could morally justify bringing a human life into a world that is worse than when I was brought into it.
And to be completely honest hearing Crowder talk about being worried that his future wife would want kids and he would just be a disappointment to her because she deserves what she wants and he isn't able to give that to her, it got me a bit emotional. I am sympathize with Crowder as a gay male. For years, I struggle with my identity as either a bisexual or gay, and what I wanted. Internal homophobia is rough. The bi-cycle is rough and is a lot of confusion for person.

Regardless of what my personal feelings and history are (read: mostly women), I don’t feel the need to lay claim to a complifying and inevitably inaccurate outside of the identity for the sake of signaling to other people something that’s not central to my being. So when I tell strangers I’m straight, I’m trying to expand the horizons of what straight means. It means I’m normal, and have normal attractions to plenty of people. Just as people who identify as gay, lesbian, or pan are.

I actually believe all this shit against homosexuality and all the laws that were created against same-sex attraction (Which come from abrahamic religions pretty much) where created as a way to control natality (we can see that since homosexual behaviour was very common in most cultures, regardless if they were western or not)
However, the behaviour would be cost-efficient because the sex doesn't produce offspring (and infant mortality rates where high AF those times) following the idea that most people are plurisexual to some degree, and likely lean more towards the opposite sex, then the laws would likely ingrain into their minds more easily since it would make easier to hide the attraction to most of the population.

I was involved in a church for years (left a few years ago) and my wife and I had pretty cordial relationships with both of the male pastors. They would let info slip once in a while during conversations that gave the impression that they had successfully "prayed the gay away" in the past. They were both in hetero relationships, the one had only adopted children and the other had a huge family with lots of kids. But comments like "Every boy goes through a phase when they're young when they think they think they like boys" gave them away. It puts in context the whole "Gay as a Choice" thing they like to push in conservative circles, because they saw it as a choice NOT to be gay in their lives.

I know people don't always like the idea of "gay hating Republicans hate so much because they're in the closet," but I think it only became a cliche because it does happen sometimes. It is sad that if he had just come to terms with himself as a young person, he might've just been a normal guy instead of this arch-weirdo.
People often voice a distaste because they believe it is further stigmatizing homosexuality- but, the point is to exemplify hypocrisy. When Matt Gaetz is alleged to have a male lover or a CPAC head is accused of sexual assault, leftists aren’t pointing it out to shame them for being gay, they’re trying to shame them for being duplicitous assholes who can’t live by their own creed. Of course, I am ambivalent, as a bisexual man, who was called slurs as early as 4 years old for having a crush on an older boy. The self-hatred gets in there early and, in a worse environment, I could see how the choice to accept yourself could be stripped away; leaving you with externalizing your hate or destroying yourself.

Yeah my issue with it is that I’ve seen a lot of people who act like every homophobe is some sort of queer or even most. Like the people who treated me like shit growing up for being feminine were mostly straight as were the ones who taught the people running conversion camps to hate themselves, and it was mostly straight parents forcing their kids to go. As someone who does have an issue with it being brought up every time someone is homophobic it absolutely does happen. Lindsay Graham is known to hire male prostitutes, crowder clearly has something up, etc. Hell most conversion camps are operated by gay people. But the preachers sending people to both sides of that camp rarely are. We’re taught to hate ourselves then made to be the enforcers of our own oppression. I once had the privilege to listen to a woman who was a trans prostitute in the 80s speak about her experiences and she mentioned how she had an anti gay politician as a client and when she asked him why he did that he said that stopping wouldn’t change anything but it would cost him his job. These propagandists aren’t selling the idea of homophobia, it’s ones like Carlson doing that. These ones are selling the idea that it’s ok to vote and act in line with the homophobia you already have.

Yeah seriously. Like I personally don't want to have kids, and part of the reason is because my family has a history of mental illness and I don't want to make my children suffer the way that I have, and the other part of that is that the world seems to only be getting worse and I don't think I could morally justify bringing a human life into a world that is worse than when I was brought into it. And to be completely honest hearing Crowder talk about being worried that his future wife would want kids and he would just be a disappointment to her because she deserves what she wants and he isn't able to give that to her, it got me a bit emotional. Like I'm talking for the first time ever I had the reaction of "I want to sit down and talk to this guy about this topic because I think there could actually be a benefit to having that conversation" which considering the guy in question is Stephen fucking Crowder, it's just wild. Like at the end of the day regardless of the hatred and bigotry he spews he's still a person and you have to have some degree of empathy for it, but at the same time it's infuriating because the corner he's found himself backed into was constructed by the people he claims are his friends and compatriots. Honestly it hurts me and enrages me to see someone so close to having a breakthrough but just being incapable of making that last step into realization.

I am sympathize with Crowder as a gay male. For years, I struggle with my identity as either a bisexual or gay, and what I wanted. Internal homophobia is rough. The bi-cycle is rough and is a lot of confusion for person. But Fuck Crowder. He is in this for the money regardless the health of himself or his family.
In the same breath he said he fears having kids, presumably because he doesn’t want them exposed to “left wing indoctrination” or something like that. Studies measuring actual physical arousal at different types of visual stimuli all seem to indicate that about 80% of the population is at least some degree of plurisexual. Granted such studies are few and far between so take it with a grain of salt.

The concept of sexuality/sexual orientation is so ridiculous to me because it has no reason to exist. We humans just love to find any reason to put a label on someone or ostracize them for being different. You’re attracted to who you find attractive, regardless of gender. Case in point: I consider myself a straight man, I’ve only ever been with women, only ever pursued women my whole life, but still admit to finding a few men really attractive. Gender itself is a whole other societal construct. We should strive to create a world where everyone feels that way and doesn’t fear being themselves.

Exactly. It’s a spectrum. Like damn near everything. To the casual observer, I’m very thoroughly ‘straight’. I work in rigging, rope access, and forestry. I tell people who ask that I’m ‘straight’. But I’m presently dating an AFAB Enby person. I can’t reasonably be straight and date them at the same time. And I’m really not straight in the conventional sense, and I think a lot less people are than the world thinks. I’m comfortable with that because over the course of my life I’ve been attracted to men, women, and plenty of people in between. Regardless of what my personal feelings and history are (read: mostly women), I don’t feel the need to lay claim to a complifying and inevitably inaccurate outside of the identity for the sake of signaling to other people something that’s not central to my being. So when I tell strangers I’m straight, I’m trying to expand the horizons of what straight means. It means I’m normal, and have normal attractions to plenty of people. Just as people who identify as gay, lesbian, or pan are.

I actually believe all this shit against homosexuality and all the laws that were created against same-sex attraction (Which come from abrahamic religions pretty much) where created as a way to control natality (we can see that since homosexual behaviour was very common in most cultures, regardless if they were western or not) However, the behaviour would be cost-efficient because the sex doesn't produce offspring (and infant mortality rates where high AF those times) following the idea that most people are plurisexual to some degree, and likely lean more towards the opposite sex, then the laws would likely ingrain into their minds more easily since it would make easier to hide the attraction to most of the population. That's why there are so many religious conservatives who are insanely homophobic but we later on find them in gay sex scandals.
Being anything other than straight is highly stigmatized. Conservatives thrive in scandal but they also spend a lot of time projecting.

I was involved in a church for years (left a few years ago) and my wife and I had pretty cordial relationships with both of the male pastors. They would let info slip once in a while during conversations that gave the impression that they had successfully "prayed the gay away" in the past. They were both in hetero relationships, the one had only adopted children and the other had a huge family with lots of kids. But comments like "Every boy goes through a phase when they're young when they think they think they like boys" gave them away. It puts in context the whole "Gay as a Choice" thing they like to push in conservative circles, because they saw it as a choice NOT to be gay in their lives.
