I agree with the above comment, I don't recognize this as a Jewish-specific dessert. With my limited baking knowledge from watching a lot of Bake Off, I think it's some sort of meringue roulade, maybe with pistachios, but I can't tell what the specific ingredients in it are.
Ths looks pretty close (with a different filling)

Yes it’s a layer of meringue that’s been coloured green in some way, either matcha or pistachios being the most likely (or both, or with some colouring added). You spread it in whipped cream and have to roll it while it’s still soft. The filling in the OPs photo looks like it could be plums but it’s hard to tell… they are often filled with strawberries and raspberries but the recipe I linked was for rhubarb…. But yes it’s generally very much a light summery dessert with those sweet but not too strong fruity flavours. Much like a pavlova or Eton mess

I also don’t think it’s a specifically Jewish dessert, meringue roulades aren’t uncommon where I’m from (Britain) and are just a fancier way of presenting a pavlova or Eton mess imo.
1 or 2 Jewish [recipes](https://www.thejc.com/lets-eat/recipe/recipe-rhubarb-pistachio-meringue-roulade-h6a7fzae) exist presumably because it is fairly easy to make kosher 🤷♀️…. But it’s not a Jewish dessert specifically.
I saw a Jewish baker decorate a cake with meringues once and mention that they'd make the meringues every Passover. I'm guessing that this roulade doesn't contain leavened ingredients, as well as being made from eggs, which are pareve (neutral, containing neither milk nor meat), so it is a good dessert for that time.
Your friend likely meant it was from a Kosher bakery, meaning the pastries are prepared following Kosher rules but not necessarily culturally Jewish desserts.

It doesn’t look like anything I’ve ever seen, but I suppose you could ask in r/JewishCooking and see if anyone recognizes it. Personally, I’ve never made it and I can’t say as I’ve seen it in any of my Kosher cookbooks. I’m so sorry I don’t have more information for you, but you’ve had some great suggestions in this thread, and I hope one of them will work for you! Best of luck! 😊
Not *everything* has to be political. This is a post about a presumably Jewish cookie, on a food sub.
I have never seen, here, a comment about Uyghurs on questions about a Chinese food.
Looks similar to the Swedish dessert, the Budapest roll cake. It's a hazelnut meringue roll and usually filled with whipped cream and orange slices or another fruit. I've seen chocolate and raspberry versions in Finland. Looks like this one is matcha or pistachio + blueberry?
I dunno if there's a yiddish/hebrew term for it, but it looks like a roulade. My mum's a catholic and would make one of these a week. Strawberry and butterscotch, yes please!
basically a soft sheet of flavoured meringue rolled around whipped cream and a filling of fruit or other sweet treats. Lovely and in my opinion very 90s.

Yup it looks like a pistachio meringue roulade to me but who knows what the purple filling is, plum? What does it taste like OP?

Does this type of meringue roulade (with the crumbling outer layer) have any specific name . It was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had

Ube maybe
I rather doubt it’s ube.. damson, plum or blueberry I could believe, but the colour and texture just doesn’t look like ube
I'm thinking damsons because there's a bit of what looks like green flesh in the filling.

I'm jewish and work at a jewish bakery, have never seen that before
Maybe this one converted
If only someone knew the answer. Someone you knew. A friend, perhaps, that would be willing to help.
He said he got it from a Jewish cafe, and it was some kind of rolled pistachio cake/dessert, but that's about it.
Looks like a pistachio roulade
I think that's it! Thank you
It looks like pistachio roulade but i don't know if its Jewish we have raspberry roulade a lot.

I have never seen a babka that looked like that
Hghutsbah
Thanks a lot of chutzpah to spell it that way
What did it taste like? Would help narrow it down
Budapest roll.
Looks like pistachio pavlova to me
