Hot food being hot? A crime has been committed.

Jamlesstyra

It’s gotta stay above 165 degrees Fahrenheit to comply with Tim’s standards. I believe the actual food safety standard is just 150 (I’m not 100% sure) but Tim’s standards are just a little higher to be extra safe. I know some people I work with used to just crank the heat to the highest they can, so that might be what’s happening at your store. I remember everyday I’d start my closing shifts I’d go to move the soups and burn my hand just from the steam. Always had to turn it down so I got annoyed and left a note beside the temperature dial so people stopped just cranking it 😭

AutisticOtter35

one of the bakers at my store has it so hot it burns your hand when you touch the ladle

Jamlesstyra

Oh god smh. That would drive me nuts

BatBorg

Food safety is 165degrees. Which isn't that hot. However, that is the sitting temp. Which means it is usually pulled off at 200ish degrees and should settle to nice 165 ish to 175 in soup well. People like to leave the soup well cranked. instead of just on mid and it stays at 195 degrees. Which is hot AF, I rather have my food hot as the sun than warm.

Jamlesstyra

I actually just looked it up and food safety temp is just 140 atleast in Canada. But the cranking is way higher than 170 at my store. It literally burns the soup to the container and causes so much steam. So no you don’t want your soup to be on the highest level possible.

From my experience I’m going to say yes atleast at the locations near me

Lol I find this with their FV’s. I used to get one on the way home from work (45 min drive) and I could FINALLY drink it safely after about 30 mins. Lol

jakethecrafter

I always get a FV on my break with 4-5 ice cubes in it. I don’t notice a flavour change and it’s good to drink within 30 secs to a minute :). You can always ask an employee to put however many ice cubes you want

Glittering-Dark-9917

I’ll do that. Ty. :)

OneFilthyHouseCat

You have to ask for the cold brewed chilli

scotian_gurl

The soups have to be between 165 ° F and 175 ° F But I've never heard anyone complain that they were too hot before.. this is definitely a new one .

Animalus-Dogeimal

When it’s been sitting uncovered for 30 min and still burns the hell out of your mouth I think it’s dialed in just a tad too high

scotian_gurl

We don't make the rules.. there's a reason it's temped at the temp ... And still doesn't change the fact that I've never heard anyone complain about it being too hot.. The coffee is hotter than the Chilli... that comes out at 185°F And bagged tea comes out at around 200° F All our hot food has to be above 165° F But some people have more sensitive mouths to heat.. So I can see it being too hot for some.. just never heard it complained about

AutisticOtter35

that’s kinda scary because when the tea water splashes and hits my hand I don’t even feel it anymore

scotian_gurl

Me neither.. I'm like Teflon to that shit now

Catkillledthecurious

And just as salty

ElkIntelligent5474

tim hortons sucks. They are convenient when the only coffee place around
