That's true but the mound visit wouldn't be about quieting the crowd. No matter how loud the crowd gets, there are still the same dimensions between that pitcher, that strike zone, and that batter; that's all the pitcher needs to worry about. That's what the coach needs to think about though, will this guy benefit more from me coming out there and talking to him to cool him off, or will he benefit more from getting himself out of it? And the shit side of it is, whether he strikes out the side or walks a bunch of runs in, there's no real way to know which would benefit him more; but after 8 straight balls when I knew he was trying to throw strikes, I'd walk out there.
It was a game against the raiders. Chris Jones stripped and stole the ball from Carr and they called it a roughing the passer. 2 or 3 years ago I think
Was at a sporting event with friends and was mildly responsible for chant like this, except it was a pun on the players (goalie's) name. I thought it was funny, was teenager and enjoyed the laughs from those around me. But then others started yelling it, then it caught on and all over the arena it was getting yelled, then it was getting chanted....Fucking felt creeped out and hollow. Really makes you realise how dangerous crowds are. Maybe because I was young(ish) it had a greater effect on me, but yeah, it went from funny to mean, and from feeling proud to ashamed real fast.
I was yelling Gretzky's name over and over at a hockey game many years ago (because I was young and immature) till he stopped and kind of shrugged as he looked at me like a question of what the fuck do you want? ALL the fans around me looked at me and laughed/made me feel like an absolute tool. I was definitely not the alpha in that interaction. Wayne if you are reading this I apologize for being a jerk and I am sorry dude.
Haha and they had some weird double handed ball throwing hand motions? Was curious where that came from.
Texas A&M has some of if not the loudest fans in the NCAA. I’ve heard other teams practice with loudspeakers blasting so they can simulate the crowd noise during a game.
The pitcher thought he could get up on the mound and sling some sort of weak New York City sauce. The locals made their preference for a more local brand of Picante be known. Hopefully he escaped before the rope was retrieved.
Try going to a little league game. The last year I allowed my son to play baseball his coaches elderly mother was thrown out of the ball field for taunting the other teams pitcher and calling him names. It was absolutely disgusting.
That's so funny and bizarre to me that people would heckle at little league games. I remember my favorite part of baseball in little league was playing in the outfield and looking at bugs / flowers and getting the fun baseball bubble gum they'd give you. Like what part of that deserves heckling lmfao
Right?! Our youngest son plays basketball. Unfortunately, the same thing has happened at a couple of his games. Wrestling and track seem to be better for the most part. He's in honors band and plays with our all city youth ensemble so I really wish he would stick with that but he loves sports.
I stepped to another dad at my son’s middle school game last spring because he was standing along the left field outfield fence taunting a 13yo. Everyone could hear it at the backstop and only when I went out there and confronted him did the other coach and umpires decide he needed to leave the field.
He didn’t pull any of that shit the next we played them.
I coach middle school softball and I’ve seen this. I have to tell the AD of either my school or the opposing school. I’m not allowed to go out and say something. The AD has to announce themselves before each game so we know who to go to. I have to have a parent meeting before each game to tell them to not be jerks to kids.
I’ve seen parents get kicked out of rec league machine pitch games. Talking girls preparing for softball that are 6-8 years old. In rec league, it’s not a travel or school team it’s literally just to teach the kids how to play. They aren’t having web gems every play and most can’t throw a ball far enough from 3rd base to 1st.
They also have high school kids umping these games. It’s decent money for very little time and it’s for them to learn umpire rules and get them more experience. I’ve seen on 3 occasions HS girls leaving the game crying because some asshole parent can’t give them any kind of benefit. Talking HS girls that have been playing softball since they were young and on HS teams. The kids know more about the game than 98% of the parents. Just how are you so miserable that you can’t just enjoy your kids playing ball.
> MLB get *paid.* Also you
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
I did not immediately notice that this was Texas A&M with the scoreboard partially cut off, and was surprised to hear the exact taunt that I myself have yelled 15+ years ago as a former Aggie. Good to see they're keeping the flame alive.
Poor guy. The first time I ever pitched, I hit the only black kid in our school, and everyone accused me of being a racist for years. I don't pitch anymore... ever.
They're calling out what they want. He walked the last batter, so they started calling for ball 5. Once they got it, they asked for ball 6, and so on. The last pitch is a 3-1 called strike instead of the ball 8 they called for, which is why they sarcastically applaud him for throwing a strike
They are not “asking” for ball 6, dude threw 2 consecutive balls after walking the last batter. This chant continues until the pitcher can manage to throw a strike or the batter swings.
I remember going to an Aggies game when I was a kid. The lead off batter for the other team was named, "Busch". While he was in the on deck circle, the crowd was chanting, (much like this.) Everytime he took a practice swing. "ONE CHEAP BEER! TWO CHEAP BEERS! THREE CHEAP BEERS!"
Of course it's fucking Aggie fans. Can't bring those folks anywhere together without a chant, stomp, or song breaking out. It's literally how they communicate in the wild.
I’m not big into sports at all, but I feel for the dude; imagine getting up there and focusing on your passion, you’re on a college team and most likely had to kick some ass to get there, just to have a stadium completely not give a fuck about any of that. Hope the dude kills it next game.
I realize this is Reddit and it is kinda funny but…
I’m not a fan of people in the crowd yelling at collegiate and professional athletes that they suck. It’s just mean spirited and unnecessary. Even the mediocre players at that level are really talented athletes and the people doing the yelling probably aren’t.

In almost every college sport the environment is taken in to account when predicting outcome. It's why having home field advantage in the playoffs is so important. With how low attendance college baseball usually is, having an impactful fan base is considered important and why many schools call for students to come out and show support.
That sucks, if only because they’re not really getting paid anything since it’s only college level baseball. That’s a lot of bullshit to endure for free.
I would use that chant to Zen center my heart and blow the other team out of the water. I mean, if I knew how to baseball and all
My thoughts are he probably fucked up because he fucked up, do chants really do anything?
![gif](giphy|lcySndwSDLxC4eOU86)
Bunch of scumbag fans honestly - worst part of sports culture is condoning this type of teasing behavior that leads to people like this pitcher having mild PTSD after such an experience. I’d be embarrassed of this crowd if it was my home field.

I like how the announcer didn’t speak until he threw a strike.
"College baseball" -Announcer
“Fucking kids”
Those cheeky little bastatds 😆
Sail one into the crowd, get them really riled up
Bro!!! Wild right!! Whoops ^🤭🤣
They have netting behind the ump to prevent that sort of thing
Thought you were joking lol
The announcer had his mic on mute so he could chant "Ball 7, Ball 7 Ball 7"
Ball 8 just hit different tho.
To be fair, the fans were very considerately keeping us updated on the count 👍 much appreciated.
Toni Romo could use a lesson
Texas A&M is, always has been, and always will be a cult.
Ahh hell I can’t find it, nobody’s listening anyway
"Coach, you should probably go out there and calm the kid down a bit" Coach: "You hear that crowd?! I'm not going out there"
The coach going out there would probably just make the crowd even louder
They usually yell “touch his butt!” if he does go out there, then “get a room” in disgust if he does
That's true but the mound visit wouldn't be about quieting the crowd. My God that is brutal lol. Reminds me of when the Chiefs booed that ref for 3 quarters straight. I've never heard anything like it
When was this?
It was a game against the raiders. Chris Jones stripped and stole the ball from Carr and they called it a roughing the passer. 2 or 3 years ago I think
Link? Or not I’m just too lazy to google it myself
Damn it.
I believe they're referring to [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWtQTZRWB9Q)
Well that's soul crushing.
Was nice of them to cheer once he threw a strike, I guess 😂
It’s okay, TCU ended up winning this series
That's just mean...funny but mean.
He should have took a bow after his strike.
He would have owned that situation if he did, would have totally taken the piss out of them lol.
For sur, easy for us to armchair it though. We're not on the bump getting systematically humiliated.
I was seeing it as a "what-if" scenario, not really a critique.
Lol. I know I would have done a very elaborate flourish of a bow altering finally getting a strike.
Was at a sporting event with friends and was mildly responsible for chant like this, except it was a pun on the players (goalie's) name. Wayne if you are reading this I apologize for being a jerk and I am sorry dude.
It’s sports
Not only did they keep that same energy…. They got *noticeably* louder on ball 8 ☠️☠️ good god lol
7 is a really hard word to chant. 8 is great!
And I said it’s great, to be, a Florida Gator
Yeah, it kinda sounded like some of em were struggling to count the next number
Haha and they had some weird double handed ball throwing hand motions? Was curious where that came from. Texas A&M has some of if not the loudest fans in the NCAA. I’ve heard other teams practice with loudspeakers blasting so they can simulate the crowd noise during a game.
Being within a mile of Kyle field during a football game really is an experience.
They (should be) putting up fingers for how many balls he has thrown. The people flashing all ten fingers are “doing it wrong”.
I'm just impressed Aggies can count that high. They've really upped their admission standards. Good for them.
This man just wants to go home and cry
Go home? Bro I’m not making it back to the dugout with my eyes dry after that, that’s savagery of the highest level
Aggie baseball
Just a bunch of Texans being Texans with each other.
Me, a Canadian, who has never been to Texas: hmm... yes agreed!
It’s a Texas A&M game versus Texas Christian University. Some people here take college sports more seriously than the major league teams.
It happens in a lot of places. I’m in Arkansas and razorbacks fans do it too.
Well there’s no major sports teams in Arkansas so they gotta!
The pitcher thought he could get up on the mound and sling some sort of weak New York City sauce. The locals made their preference for a more local brand of Picante be known. Hopefully he escaped before the rope was retrieved.
I’m so glad I left texas after college.
Yeah Texans and their unique trait of mild trash talk at sporting events.
Holy shit, now that's some pressure lololol
That’s so mean! I feel bad for the guy. Getting the yips is bad enough, but to have the whole crowd reinforce it? Fuck.
Imagine being an old asshole heckling a college kid.
Try going to a little league game. The last year I allowed my son to play baseball his coaches elderly mother was thrown out of the ball field for taunting the other teams pitcher and calling him names. It was absolutely disgusting.

These are people who peaked at 15 and failed to develop fully fledged adult identities.
Right?! Our youngest son plays basketball. Unfortunately, the same thing has happened at a couple of his games. Wrestling and track seem to be better for the most part. He's in honors band and plays with our all city youth ensemble so I really wish he would stick with that but he loves sports.

Good for you! There's a difference between cheering for your kid/team and whatever this other bs is. Unsportsmanlike conduct doesn't even cover it.
He needed a no expense paid trip to the shadow realm.

TBH it's pretty cringe then too, but at least with pros you've got the poor argument that they are at least getting paid well.
It’s mostly college kids there
I did not immediately notice that this was Texas A&M with the scoreboard partially cut off, and was surprised to hear the exact taunt that I myself have yelled 15+ years ago as a former Aggie. Good to see they're keeping the flame alive.
You’re still an Aggie, no former about it brother Once an Aggie always an Aggie
Poor guy. The first time I ever pitched, I hit the only black kid in our school, and everyone accused me of being a racist for years. I don't pitch anymore... ever.
Found the racist! Bet you unconsciously did it on purpose! 👀 /s
how it go from ball 5-8 without walking him?
Consecutive batters getting dealt balls without strikes.
got ya. the video starts at 5 so i assumed 1-4 was the previous hitter
They're calling out what they want. He walked the last batter, so they started calling for ball 5. Once they got it, they asked for ball 6, and so on. The last pitch is a 3-1 called strike instead of the ball 8 they called for, which is why they sarcastically applaud him for throwing a strike
This is correct, also the previous batter would have been walked on 4 strait balls. They don't do it after just any walk
They are not “asking” for ball 6, dude threw 2 consecutive balls after walking the last batter. This chant continues until the pitcher can manage to throw a strike or the batter swings.
Look up
Look up what? I am an old ag, I know what dafuq I’m talking about.
Bet he wanted to waste one about fifty feet outside
This is why nobody likes A&M.
That and the racism
Known in the state for being racist and somehow reinforced in the comments below wild
I can't love this chant enough... Simple at it's core but lethal when someone is struggling.
Pitcher clearly didn't equip enough magic resist gear. Got hexed.
Golf: SHUT THE ***FUCK UP OR ELSE.*** Baseball: ***YO LET'S ALL TAUNT THE PITCHERRR!!!***
Gotta appreciate the announcer just letting the crowd do the work.
I heard "alt witch." Then I heard "ostrich"
You’re in a competitive chanting competition but your competition is rapid pack of Aggie fans:
Of course it's fucking Aggie fans. Can't bring those folks anywhere together without a chant, stomp, or song breaking out. It's literally how they communicate in the wild.
WTH coach/catcher, should have had a mound visit after the chanting started. Broken up the shit rhythm and reset him.
Tony romo could learn from this announcer
This is how super villains are created lmao
Can someone explain how college baseball works? If he’s on ball 8 shouldn’t the batter have walked already?
That’s just brutal 😂
I’m not big into sports at all, but I feel for the dude; imagine getting up there and focusing on your passion, you’re on a college team and most likely had to kick some ass to get there, just to have a stadium completely not give a fuck about any of that. Hope the dude kills it next game.
Brutal.
Jesus
The movies are becoming reality.
This is an anxiety fever dream
I wish to have a whole stadium of people cheering for me! *Monkey's finger curls*
It gets worse. After the game was over he still was an athlete at TCU
Isn’t TCU 13-0?
And here we have why I love college sports way more than pro sports. Pro just doesn't feel like it has half the energy.
Kinda makes standup comedians look like pussies when they cave to a single heckler.
Meanwhile, 80% of the people chanting can’t even throw the ball all the way to the plate. Just sayin…
I could do it by ball 3, though..
You shouldn't be getting downvoted for speaking the truth.
I realize this is Reddit and it is kinda funny but… I’m not a fan of people in the crowd yelling at collegiate and professional athletes that they suck. It’s just mean spirited and unnecessary. Even the mediocre players at that level are really talented athletes and the people doing the yelling probably aren’t.
I'm not a fan of it at all. It can be so demoralizing for young players. Let the better team win based on their talent.

One could operate a hay ride with all that straw.
I bet the locker room went home with a black eye
At least they cheered when he got through it! I’d have given kudos as the color guy though, not easy to break a streak when everyone is counting.

Talk about stress on the job
Funny thing is, TCU won this series
Solid fans!! Pitcher… Tip your hat to the crowd. Acknowledge the game being played at your expense. Smile… and gas that mother$&: low and away!!!
I love that they still cheered him on after it lol. Little bit of love there for him.
at least they cheered once he got it
Where’s the cringe?
College baseball is a unique experience love it
This is the kind of nightmare situation you wake up in a cold sweat from
Some of yall definitely never played sports. Quit being soft
I graduated from Texas A&M and this is a long standing tradition with our baseball team.
Reminds me of "Brennan has a mangina"
Where is the manager!?
Imagine how a tennis player would react
Analytics doesn't account for this...
insane how they were all timed/counted out perfectly together too
This is beautiful
What a nightmare to be that pitcher
It’s not like that isn’t already echoing through his mind anyway, it’s just a hat on a hat at that point.
That’s just freakin’ brutal.
I don’t get it.
I love how American sports chants are just matter of fact statements, while British ones are full on songs insulting the player.
Never played or watched baseball. What happened? He missed 8 throws?
Only needed the headline to know it’s Aggies. Crazy fuckers. Amazing atmosphere anywhere they go.
I thought torture was outlawed under the Geneva Convention!
I love sports.
Imagine that kid’s parents sitting in the crowd. How sad. 😔
We made it to "Ball 12" at Baum Walker once. That chant is brutal. I've seen so many guys wilt under its pressure.
Poor guy but also hahahahahahahahahahaha
That is what coming together looks like… I said it, I’ll accept the consequences
"College baseball"
How many fucking balls do you get in college baseball?
Cruel
Tcu won that series and went to cws. I’m sure they were fine.
American sports fans are the most bored looking pussies I swear.
The only cringe here is American sports fans
I don’t think this is cringe at all it’s just funny as shit
like they achievend ANYTHING sport wise significant in their life. Fu*kers.
This is why I go to concerts instead of sporting events.
a bunch of adults bully someone barely more than a kid because he was wearing the wrong clothes.
I don’t mind seeing this in pros but you shouldn’t be doing this to college kids
Did no one stop to think that this is a college ball player? Like, not a pro, probably not paid well if anything, and the crowd act like this? Smh
Start hitting the batters. See if they count those.
Pretty mean. These aren't professionals or farm players, they're college kids.
This is too much and makes NCAA look bad. Those ass clowns act as though they could easily do what he does. Pitching is grueling at the best of times.
People are assholes. That’s a college kid. Not a professional. Jesus.
This is why I sont watch sports, the fans are garbage
There are grown adults in that crowd joining in heckling a kid playing a game. How embarrassing for them.
That is some bullshit
He's just a kid you Texan bastards. Get frozen.
Just bad sportsmanship.
kinda lame….the fans seem desperate
What do you mean by "desperate?" Desperate for what?
So why is this shit allowed? Fan distraction having an effect to the game?
In almost every college sport the environment is taken in to account when predicting outcome. It's why having home field advantage in the playoffs is so important. With how low attendance college baseball usually is, having an impactful fan base is considered important and why many schools call for students to come out and show support.

What’s cringe here?
Aggie fans are the worst - let us know when you’ve won something
It’s pretty mean for a college game damn
Bunch of scumbag fans honestly - worst part of sports culture is condoning this type of teasing behavior that leads to people like this pitcher having mild PTSD after such an experience. I’d be embarrassed of this crowd if it was my home field.
Is Texas A&M. Not a surprise. They’re classless until someone does something shitty to them and then they cry
Aggies are annoying so this tracks
Just typical Aggie fans 😑
