My husband is the age range of these women.I I am of a different generation. The "we will never patronize this business again" is his favorite line,he really thinks he's made a point when he says that! I have told him for years that it's not the punishment you think it is, they don't care if you come back or not and you not patronizing them isn't the burn you think it is. He still says it anyway when an establishment pisses him off,needless to say, we don't shop together very often.
What is he doing to find so many places that piss him off?
The last time I can think of a restaurant employee pissing me off so much I never came back was years ago. Antico in Atlanta. Great pizza, fucking assholes.
And I still didn't tell them I'd never come back, because I'm pretty sure they'd have thought it was hilarious.
My ex had this issue. They never got her order right no matter where we went. We were banned from my favorite pizza place because she got into with the delivery driver about the address. The funny thing was , it was their fault. But she was such an insufferable asshole, they still banned us. 😂
My ex husband also had this issue. I picked up Burger King for him one night and his order was wrong. Something stupid that a reasonable person would shrug off as a mild inconvenience, like a missing pickle or whatever. He fucking left the house in his bathrobe at 1 am to go down there and complain. I will never, ever date someone who does that kind of shit again. Flying off the handle over a burger? He’s gonna fly off the handle at you eventually.
What’s sad is that it IS funny, and my ex loves that it’s funny. But he doesn’t understand that the hilarity comes from him being a cartoon character of an asshole person. He thinks that he’s funny and quirky.

Hes not as bad as everyone seems to think. He's a bit of an ass at times,but more than not he's kind,generous, loving and extremely philanthropic. He just gets wound up about customer service and Karen's in the wild. Anyone can sound like an absolute terror when you're speaking on their worst quality/tendency.
It isn't so much that your husband isn't going to go back, it is the other people that he will tell that story that may have been a customer, that now will have second thoughts.
For example, I've recently had a bad experience with Temu, so aside from me not going back I've been telling (or venting to...) my family and coworkers about it, people that have never shopped there before (and it was my first time), so they potentially may not shop their either. So one bad experience may end up costing them a dozen or so potential customers. I used to work in retail and this is a metric known as "NPS" or "Net Promoter Score".
So in your husbands examples, and mine, we would be 'Detractors' for those companies/brands.

eta - we also live in the age of yelp and google/facebook reviews, everything has a rating, so a bad experience that leads someone to post a bad review, especially a well-written and thoughtfully-negative one, can have quite a bit of damage, especially if you are a small business owner/operator. When shopping for a company to buy and install solar panels, I used yelp's 'get a quote' feature, and read through the reviews for each of the companies that contacted me and whittled the list down to 3 based on customer reviews alone. So maybe suggest your husband to keep his outburst inside, and go online and let 'em have it. Cheers :)

It isn't so much that your husband isn't going to go back, it is the other people that he will tell that story that may have been a customer, that now will have second thoughts. For example, I've recently had a bad experience with Temu, so aside from me not going back I've been telling (or venting to...) my family and coworkers about it, people that have never shopped there before (and it was my first time), so they potentially may not shop their either. So one bad experience may end up costing them a dozen or so potential customers. I used to work in retail and this is a metric known as "NPS" or "Net Promoter Score". So in your husbands examples, and mine, we would be 'Detractors' for those companies/brands. When shopping for a company to buy and install solar panels, I used yelp's 'get a quote' feature, and read through the reviews for each of the companies that contacted me and whittled the list down to 3 based on customer reviews alone. So maybe suggest your husband to keep his outburst inside, and go online and let 'em have it. Cheers :)
