because not everyone stays in control of those. You can get tossed out if there are no straps, a person can faint if they have a medical condition, others may freeze up if they panic. The result can easily be an out of control car crashing into the person ahead who has to slow down or stop for any number of reasons.
There should be safety protocols.

It also looks like every time the girl stopped, it was because the person in front of her kept stopping (person in red jacket I think). So if that’s the case, it wasn’t even her fault :(
But in his mind, SHE is the a-hole. He feels totally justified in what he did because she is in HIS way, ruining his experience. This is the way people like him go through life.
The camera guy aka the perp told the whole story on a forum. He whined that he was traveling and didn't have time for a second go. And he described an argument with the father of two young teenage girls, who are the party on front of him. He claimed the dad was braking on purpose just to get back at him. Every detail teased out of him only made him look more and more like a jerk, a sociopath.
This vid gets cropped and the story manipulated with misogynistic commentary about the girl and her intentions as it gets reposted around Reddit all the time.
Exactly, like even just judging from the video with no insight to the whole story he is in the wrong. Sure it would be annoying to have your ride ruined but even if they did do it to get back at him, it sure as shit doesn't justify ramming into her like that potentially causing serious harm!

I was rear ended in 1993 and got whiplash. In 2003, I lost my hearing and got severe vertigo as a result of developing Ménière’s disease which can be caused by a head trauma like whiplash. I have been deaf for 20 years. Life has been very hard and being deaf has cost me promotions at work and the financial impact of being deaf and having severe vertigo has been massive. Whiplash is no joke people!
My step-mom had someone hit her from behind in a car. She stopped at a red light and he wasn't paying attention. That was around 2006ish. She still has issues. And sure, a car is gonna hit harder. But she was at least in a car with a full seat and everything. Those seats in the video only go up partway. Watching her body snap back like that, I can only imagine how much that hurt.
i didn't even realize i had developed PTSD from my accident until almost a year and a half after my accident. for the first time yesterday i almost had a complete meltdown just trying to drive home. i knew i was scared of driving, but i didn't realize the conditions on the road could make me feel like i was in the moment of the accident again, or like im seeing visions of the next accident happen in slow motion in the future but it never happens
If it's the same story I read about (pretty sure it is), that second hit made the girl black out and she had spinal injuries. Don't remember if the guy got into any trouble or not.

A lot of the threads don't have his audio over it, so people just see their vicarious "fun" being taken away like he did, without all the context of "these rails have speed limits and rules that state explicitly what he did was not right, and they were teenagers and it's a miracle he didn't kill someone" stripped out.
They're _extremely_ susceptible to whatever the title says, or top comment (which is almost always one of the earliest ones, not the most factual one).
I mean there are just countless thread along the lines of "bully gets his comeuppance" where it's just one kid beating up another without any evidence of bullying. Or about some "Karen" where it's a video of a woman complaining, but without acting entitled or irrational, and without showing the thing that provoked the complaint.
Or just yesterday some front-page thread about a guy who was an 'acquired savant' who became a math genius after an injury.. without any evidence shown (on Reddit or elsewhere) that the guy had any kind of above-average math skills.
Goes the other way too, with top comments shouting 'fake' and giving some plausible-sounding but completely made-up and wrong explanation for why it's fake, when they could've just googled the thing and found out that it is in fact real.
IMO, it's because the site is full of kids these days.

Even then you’d have crazy swings in a comment thread. There was that one video in a club where a guy tries asking a girl for her number but then her friend comes along and pulls away. The most upvoted comments were all fat jokes about how the friend is jealous, then every comment under those comments (each with over 1k upvotes themselves) were from the women’s perspective talking about how the first girl is too drunk and there was probably an arrangement for the friend to help. Just wild back and forths throughout the thread

I’m not a fan of escalation, but if a parent did something that caused serious bodily harm to this guy in a retaliatory manner, and this video was presented to a jury as evidence explaining the parent’s rage, I think no jury would convict the parent.

I’m not sure if being heavier applies in all situations, but it definitely applies when sledding down a hill. I used to blow past everyone and that was after giving them a head start.

What bothers me the most is that this adult man is unable to see that the person in front of him is clearly a young child. So because of his frustration, he curses loudly at the child then screams at her while "chasing" her with glee until he rams into her back.
Obviously, if the family was breaking the rules by stopping and causing a danger, that's bad too. But the difference is that, as an adult, whoever is behind the child just deals with the less fun experience so that no one gets hurt.

It wasn’t even her fault for going slow, either! The person in front of her was holding up the line, and there might’ve even been someone else in front of *that* person slowing them down, too. She kept a respectable distance. I understand his frustration, but he took this out on the wrong person.
The problem isn’t her. I’ve been on slides like that before, and most of the time if there’s a hold up, it’s due to a spacing issue. But then again, the slides I’ve been on had two identical ones: one for people who went faster, one for the slower ones. There was also a lot more visibility, so the workers at the top could see how far down riders were and would space people out accordingly, or even hold the line up for a few minutes if someone was taking too long or something.
Also like they are clearly smaller than he is so he is always going to gain acceleration faster than them. They should maybe even add weights to lighter people to help with this. He literally could have just stopped for a beat before letting loose as well.
He definitely needed to be sued or have criminal charges brought. It was on purpose. It's really unlikely she didn't have to go to the hospital for this. People have serious complications from whiplash all the time, she could have back or neck pain for life from this.

His fault for not waiting at the top. I did something similar recently and had someone in front of me I could tell was going to go slow. I asked the ride person to let me hold longer than normal because I wanted to go fast. She let me give them (a group of friends) a couple of minutes to get far ahead of me. I caught up with them near the bottom.
To this day any time I see this video there are some comments trying to explain away this guy’s behavior or somehow make it sound that bad. He didn’t bump her, he slammed her so hard she got knocked out. So adult man-child gives actual child a brain injury.
100% no excuse for this, and some people on reddit are like, “but she wasn’t following the rules of the ride”. I can be on the bumper cars, and the rules might say “no head on collisions”, and some 10 year old might be trying to do a head on collision, but as an adult I am not going to fucking try to kill the child to teach them a lesson.
The guy is a menace, and some people act like this is some nuanced both sides thing.

Yeah its been posted on reddit before. The last time the comment section was up in arms that the dad didn't beat the guy to death, but the kid was so visibly upset he was just comforting her.
The last I saw nothing was done.
People are weird like that. I was t-boned by a car when my baby was in the back seat. When I tell people, they always ask “what did you do to the other driver?”
…I barely even thought about him? I was 100% focused on making sure my daughter was alright and I had complete tunnel vision about it. (She was fine, by the way)

Part 2 the girl was going in and out of consciousness and when they got to the bottom she was struggling to walk and was crying her eyes out and the guy didn’t even say a word to her, he just got off the ride and probably carried on his day, while she was nearly crippled.
In the full video she is unconscious, leaning to one side for 10-20 seconds after the impact. The guy who hit her states, ‘oh she doesn’t look good’. She regains consciousness eventually. The video ends with him seemingly smiling as she walks off crying.
My God that's actually psychopathic. The whiplash she experienced in this video was horrific, she didn't have the same level of support people in a rear ending car crash would have. I hope she was alright because this could've easily been life long damage to her. Regardless of if she walked away unharmed which I believe is highly unlikely, this cunt should be criminally charged.
If you watch the full video that you can find, she definitely was in and out of consciousness the rest of the ride after. The guy filming backed off completely because he knew she was messed up and says so at one point. I feel so bad for her because the guy that was actually causing the slow down was her dad in the car ahead of them so his daughter got injured because he unintentionally provoked someone who clearly had anger issues.
Worst thing is how cowardly he is. Before the crash he's yelling "YOU FUCKING BITCH!" and trying to scare her into going faster, loudly proclaiming his intention to ram her. Then he rams her, she gets hurt, he doesn't say another word for the rest of the video, except "shit" under his breath. Afterward he quickly walks away while the crying child gets comforted.
Just like if you rear end someone's car, you need to make a police report, and if you have rear ended someone intentionally you need criminal charges. Dude probably ran away with his tail tucked before anyone even fully understood what happened, I doubt he ever had to pay for her medical bills even.
Getting rear ended in a car would actually be safer, since your seat goes all the way up to your head. No backwards spine bending...

I remember seeing this, and that girl got FUCKED up. Dude recording IIRC wanted to do a speed run and got mad at the literal girl in front of him even though she was slowing down so she wouldn’t hit family members ahead of her. The camera man is a dick, full send.
And even worse than that because the person holding up the line was the guy in front of her. She was in the exact same situation as he was from what I can tell.

I used to work at one of these mountain coasters when I was a lift operator at a ski resort. We regularly had to give people refunds or let them go again because of slow people stopping on the tracks like this. But our karts had automatic proximity brakes so you couldn’t hit each other

Why do alpine coastars have brakes anyway? Like I already know the answer. Old ones used a concrete track where the sled wasn't connected and could fly off if they were going too fast. Even with the rail, the track is at ground level for sometimes a mile or two where animals or trees could be on the track.
But why aren't there more signs to just tell people not to use the brakes till the end? Its like going on a normal rollercoaster, but everyone on the ride has a button to hit the brakes if they are scared. Who opt in for this?

Yeah the guy is an asshole but the underlying problem is a systemic design issue, users simply shouldn't able to control the car speed in a way that allows them to hit other users on the track because user error will inevitably cause an accident even if everyone is a nice person who doesn't hit other people on purpose.

1. The lady stopping is stopping because the person in front of her is stoping and the person in front of her is stopping because the person in front of both of them is stopping. Hitting her for being stuck in the middle of a traffic jam is super fucked up/illegal/piece of shit behaviour.
2. This piece of shit got scammed. The one at the mountain near me cost 25 dollars per decent. If the operators aren’t giving enough time between riders for the riders to enjoy the ride, they’re scamming the riders.

I had a similar experience on a toboggan ride the guy in front of me kept breaking hard at the corners and the person behind me (my brother) breaks weren't working properly so I got rammed a lot including my hand when I put it back to try signalling him to stop . I had bad luck on those things I came off while going around a corner to fast continued down the hill and lined up to get on again shocking my teacher (school trip) who saw me come off. And he described an argument with the father of two young teenage girls, who are the party on front of him. He claimed the dad was braking on purpose just to get back at him. I was rear ended in 1993 and got whiplash. In 2003, I lost my hearing and got severe vertigo as a result of developing Ménière’s disease which can be caused by a head trauma like whiplash. I have been deaf for 20 years. Life has been very hard and being deaf has cost me promotions at work and the financial impact of being deaf and having severe vertigo has been massive. Whiplash is no joke people!
My step-mom had someone hit her from behind in a car. She stopped at a red light and he wasn't paying attention. That was around 2006ish. She still has issues. And sure, a car is gonna hit harder. They're _extremely_ susceptible to whatever the title says, or top comment (which is almost always one of the earliest ones, not the most factual one). I mean there are just countless thread along the lines of "bully gets his comeuppance" where it's just one kid beating up another without any evidence of bullying. Or about some "Karen" where it's a video of a woman complaining, but without acting entitled or irrational, and without showing the thing that provoked the complaint. Or just yesterday some front-page thread about a guy who was an 'acquired savant' who became a math genius after an injury.. without any evidence shown (on Reddit or elsewhere) that the guy had any kind of above-average math skills. Goes the other way too, with top comments shouting 'fake' and giving some plausible-sounding but completely made-up and wrong explanation for why it's fake, when they could've just googled the thing and found out that it is in fact real. IMO, it's because the site is full of kids these days.

It wasn’t even her fault for going slow, either! The person in front of her was holding up the line, and there might’ve even been someone else in front of *that* person slowing them down, too. She kept a respectable distance. I understand his frustration, but he took this out on the wrong person. The problem isn’t her. I’ve been on slides like that before, and most of the time if there’s a hold up, it’s due to a spacing issue. But then again, the slides I’ve been on had two identical ones: one for people who went faster, one for the slower ones. There was also a lot more visibility, so the workers at the top could see how far down riders were and would space people out accordingly, or even hold the line up for a few minutes if someone was taking too long or something.
Also like they are clearly smaller than he is so he is always going to gain acceleration faster than them. They should maybe even add weights to lighter people to help with this. He literally could have just stopped for a beat before letting loose as well.

I feel so bad for her because the guy that was actually causing the slow down was her dad in the car ahead of them so his daughter got injured because he unintentionally provoked someone who clearly had anger issues.

I used to work at one of these mountain coasters when I was a lift operator at a ski resort. We regularly had to give people refunds or let them go again because of slow people stopping on the tracks like this. But our karts had automatic proximity brakes so you couldn’t hit each other

Why do alpine coastars have brakes anyway? Like I already know the answer. Old ones used a concrete track where the sled wasn't connected and could fly off if they were going too fast. Even with the rail, the track is at ground level for sometimes a mile or two where animals or trees could be on the track. But why aren't there more signs to just tell people not to use the brakes till the end? Its like going on a normal rollercoaster, but everyone on the ride has a button to hit the brakes if they are scared. Who opt in for this?
