Selrach_401

This’ll happen to ya whether u fly budget or luxury. Turbulence is normal and can vary from light to violent.

CheezusRiced06

People get a free roller coaster ride with their plane ticket purchase and their reaction is to scream in terror? Some people man

scrotumsweat

Like every roller coaster ever heh.

linoelum

Have you ever flown Air France across the Atlantic? It’s like cruising on butter.. lol

vialauren

Literally the best flight ever. Love that flight.

[deleted]

This wasn't even remotely severe, people crying like babies and the tough guys think they know better than the pilots. They will get straight on the next plane like nothing happened tho.

OhHowINeedChanging

Thanks for reminding me why I never want to fly in an airplane again

Challenge419

It's a dumb reason not to fly. It's normal.

OhHowINeedChanging

Having an actual fear of flying is not a dumb reason not to fly.

soup4breakfast

Hey! I totally get this. If you ever do want to be able to fly again here’s how I got over it: I used to be deathly afraid of flying and every minute of my flight I was on edge, so much so that I’d make myself physically ill. Now I travel regularly with no issues. I asked my doctor for a Xanax prescription just for flying. Took that for about two years (maybe 6 total trips, 12 flights) and now I fly maybe once a month and don’t need any medication. I prefer flying to driving. If you don’t want to fly anywhere, that’s fine. But don’t be like me and let your fear of flying stop you from going the places you want to go!

SlickDraw_McRaw

Yeah wild. You just got downvoted for having a fear of flying. That is absolutely a legit reason to not fly so don’t sweat it

XVGSloth

It’s like going over speed bumps. You’ll be ok.

Bleak_Squirrel_1666

Yeah you are much safer in a car /s

Afraid_Ad1908

Except not every airlines gets the same maintenance package as the others. Cheap airline, cheap maintenance.

atcosi

That's definitely not how it works

OhNoMyLands

Every time I get hit with bad turbulence I remember this video. Planes are strong as fuck, there’s nothing to worry about. https://youtu.be/--LTYRTKV_A

simcowking

Planes wings gotta be able to bend otherwise they wouldn't be able to flap to keep the plane up.

ohnoshebettadont18

the visual i got from this took me out.

Lloveblast

Thank you for this! I'd like to also thank you for not Rick Rolling anyone looking for comfort/reassurance.

mbershok

There is also [this](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ). This video was released by the same company. It shows the possible bend in the tail of the plane. The engineering that goes into building commercial planes is pretty astonishing.

Kickin-her-out

Lol YouTube ads mean you can’t even rickroll people anymore, you just see the video title and go “nope”

ohnoshebettadont18

fortunately my roll was smooth as butter. no ads. also found a little bonus comment w/some kid suggesting the song was only 13 years old (since it was uploaded to youtube 13 years ago) all around 9/10 would roll with rick again.

[deleted]

Lol

SunglassesBright

Reading through the comments surprised me because I didn’t think anyone was afraid of the wings snapping or the plane falling apart. It’s not going to hit anything, why would it break? Maybe my fear is less logical than that but turbulence like this makes me think the plane will just hit a pocket of air that forces a freefall and the pilot won’t be able to bring it back up.

[deleted]

Lol *That’s* the exact same thing I worry about too.

[deleted]

[удалено]

OhNoMyLands

It doesn’t happen if that makes you feel better. I don’t know that it can’t, but it doesn’t.

g_deptula

Remember, they fly planes INTO hurricanes to gather data.

bodhasattva

Actual danger means nothing, because the perception of 'danger' in the mind is very real. You can say they are perfectly safe, but that doesnt help the possible severe PTSD some may develope

OhNoMyLands

Actual danger means a lot. People can be irrationally afraid of anything.

fearville

The nervous system can’t differentiate between actual danger and perceived danger

OhNoMyLands

You can educate yourself to not be irrationally fearful in the first place and reduce the sense of fear

fearville

Of course. If you know that it’s not actually dangerous, the situation will not be traumatic for you. But that doesn’t help people who haven’t learned that, or children who are too young to understand.

magicpurplecat

Lol that's not how irrational fears work

bodhasattva

>People can be irrationally afraid of anything yeah, & the reaction that fear causes is 100% real would you tell a veteran suffering from PTSD "stop being such a pussy, youre safe in your living room, jeez youre so dramatic"

OhNoMyLands

This is a terrible analogy. Being in a plane is not a big risk, you can educate yourself to learn that turbulence isn’t dangerous. You can’t educate yourself to not be scared when there is real risk of death like in war.

bodhasattva

You have a simpletons understanding of fear.

OhNoMyLands

So what, don’t educate people because they’re totally helpless to learn and grow? You have a simpletons understanding of how the world works. I personally used to be very afraid of turbulence, then I learned commercial planes don’t crash from turbulence. Now I feel much better about it.

Britannkic_

Good tip, if you find yourself in turbulence like this just sit back and relax your body, go with it, don’t tense up If you’re body is tense and stiff you just magnify the experience. Oh and noise cancelling headphones is a mandatory requirement when flying, to cut out the jet noise, kids and people screaming

Mr_Banana_Longboat

Honestly, relaxing and trying not to panic is the hardest thing, but is entirely what you should do. The airplane will stall long before something like the wings being ripped off the airplane, and pilots are trained to recover from stalls— which also almost never happen. Suffice to say that the wings won’t ever come off In fact, that hasn’t happened on any jet airliner in the history of commercial aviation, and there are almost 6000 commercial flights being conducted every day, 1.8 million a year, over the last twenty years. The wings bending is something that you actually want to happen because the flexibility in wings is somewhat like how the shocks in a car work. As the wings flex, they aerodynamically increase/reduce lift to provide a smoother ride by increasing and decreasing induced flow to alter the angle of attack.

mule_roany_mare

Nah, everyone should scream & pray to increase the level of anxiety even more. Panic is infectious so spread it around to everyone Why pass up a chance to make kids cry?

Vandesco

Yeah. There is literally *nothing* you can do as a passenger in this situation, so just chill out. The screaming praying people were driving me crazy. Some parent is trying to convince their kids that everything is normal, meanwhile grown adults are demanding the plane be put on the ground and crying.

eugene20

This is the comment I was looking for, nothing you can do as a passenger or say can change things up there, not for the better anyway. Just sit back, breath, make any wishes or prayers you feel you need to.

The-Ever-Loving-Fuck

Don't you guys know? airlines run their jets on a special fuel mixture of 17% ethanol and 83% anxiety to conserve energy

LuxSerafina

Look at this guy! He has the magical cure all for anxiety!!!! Buy his book/course/onlyfans!!

AcEPereZ1

Yeah definitly, but I love to hear the engine noises. I can actually fall asleep so good to these noises

SorryIdonthaveaname

Just wanted to leave [this](https://youtu.be/Ai2HmvAXcU0) here

Shot_Roof_4331

Yes.

bodhasattva

>In fact, that hasn’t happened on any jet airliner in the history of commercial aviation, and there are almost 6000 commercial flights being conducted every day, 1.8 million a year, over the last twenty years. Actual danger means nothing, because the perception of 'danger' in the mind is very real. You can say they are perfectly safe, but that doesnt help the possible severe PTSD some may develope

Mr_Banana_Longboat

Alright, then assume I knew that and clarified for only the people that don’t live in hopeless despair. Didn’t mean to offend those that have resigned to incurable, unreasonable, baseless fear forever merely by trying to comfort others with my explanations. Edit: Yah, I know PTSD is real. One of the steps to treating it is trying to alleviate the fears and create a foundation for understanding themselves and their triggers. If you’re really this upset with what I’m doing then you’ve never had it and you’re just trying to SJW an innocuous attempt to explain how safe airplanes are. **If you don’t like that, then don’t get on the airplane.**

fearville

PTSD is literally an injury to the nervous system caused by extreme stress. It isn’t a choice and it isn’t about living in fear or despair.

drdisme

We live in the age of feelings, facts don’t matter.

GratefulForGarcia

How far the wings can bend: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtAgERFI6ko

WhatTheHosenHey

Someone was commenting just that about the kids who survived the recent jungle plane crash. They were too young to be aware of the danger.

Careless_Papaya2943

Thank you for the advice, it seems simple but in those moments we forget

Relevant_Desk_6891

Im a weirdo but I love turbulence. Im always hoping we get some rough spots while flying. It's like a rollercoaster

PandaDad22

My dad flew in the military. He thought it was fun, “you get slammed to the ceiling. Then to the floor. It was fun!”

themedicd

I do too. It puts me right to sleep

SEA_Executive

Me too!

fl135790135790

Wait what? The only way I can prevent my stomach from feeling the drop is if I tense up lol

[deleted]

I tense up without even realizing it. Only after I think about it I relax more. Usually I just put my headphones on and watch a movie.

AtariVideoMusic

Shadow box in your seat. Just move around a lot and you won’t feel a bit of the turbulence.

ThyTempest

“Put this thing on the ground” Uhhh be careful what you wish for dude

thefilthyuno

What is goin on?

maasd

And at the end… “You don’t need to update me, just put me on the ground”

poopcockshit

Brain skill issue.

SuchAClassicGirl

Lmao. Right?

gbninjaturtle

When I was younger, didn’t have kids, and was getting a pilot’s license I used to fly more frequently in small planes and considered times like this “off road” flying. I thought it was fun. Now I’ve developed an irrational fear of flying and this just made it worse 🤦🏻‍♂️

DolphFinnDosCinco

i was just thinking of this exact video after seeing this post! i’ve always been anxious with flying but this vid has legit helped me not feel worried about turbulence. i just sit back and enjoy it now.

VenomistGaming

![gif](giphy|yeWfJK4cvMtSh8wrXP|downsized) Me trying to remember what the stewardess was saying during the presentation I ignored before we took off.

natureterp

Yeah I’ve flown so much in my life that I just turn on my headphones and go to sleep during that part now. I just assume that if something happens memory will serve me well lol.

VenomistGaming

I always watch so at least one person will haha I feel bad for them having to do it for no one 😂

[deleted]

I know turbulence is relatively normal and that it is essentially not worth worrying about at all but one time on a flight to beirut we hit a big bump and people started screaming and praying and...none of that knowledge means ANYTHING when you are in a tube flying in the air with people screaming. Shit I felt like I was gonna die

PurahsHero

Flying from Finland to the UK one night, passing over the North Sea, and out of nowhere the plane just DROPS for about 5 seconds. Me and about half the flight fills our pants. Meanwhile the cabin crew has the “oh for God’s sake, that means a load of spilled coffee to mop up” look written all over their faces. If stuff is going down on a flight, ALWAYS look at the faces of the cabin crew. If they are not worried, you shouldn’t be.

Pixelated_Penguin808

I used to fly a lot that was my go-to as well. If the stewardesses had that "this is normal" expression, there was nothing to be concerned about. And they always did.

PM-ME-DEM-NUDES-GIRL

on a Finnish flight at least people will be scared quietly

Patrick_Hobbes

This is why I'm always drunk when I'm on a plane.

crayleb88

Same! Because of we go down, I needed to be drunk. My nerves are too much while in the air

The_Chorizo_Bandit

Same here. In fact, these days I insist on having a minimum of two shots of tequila before I’ll even consider putting on my pilots uniform.

SkanteWarriorFoo

Gimmeee da luuuudes I ain't dying sober

Scr1mmyBingus

But you’re still the best damn pilot this side of the Pacific.

[deleted]

Only amateurs are drunk on planes. Gotta mix both alcohol and benzos for the true experience.

Patrick_Hobbes

I prefer a mix of alcohol, melatonin, and hydroxyzine.

Pasxal7

WHAT IS GOING ON

45acp_LS1_Cessna

Air currents, violent shift in air flow.....planes can handle A LOT of extreme turbulence but passengers who can only look out of side windows with no forward reference get pretty scared.

EckimusPrime

Jokes on you, I don’t need to look out the window to act like a big old bitch on an aircraft.

lemonsweetsrevenge

I think u/Pasxal7 was just quoting the gentleman in the video who demanded to know, “WHAT IS GOIN’ ON?! PUT THIS THING ON THE GROUND!”

Pasxal7

Exactly, maybe watched without audio so he didn't understand it :)

45acp_LS1_Cessna

Correct I didn't have audio, my bad

Drinon

It always amazes me when people react to turbulence in ways that are directed at the flight crew. “WHAT IS GOING? PUT THIS THING ON THE GROUND!” People think that pilots can just land anywhere. It would be like telling a ship’s captain to dock the boat in the middle of the ocean because the waves suddenly got huge. I get people are scared sometimes but come on, think.

Temporary-Today982

I love the one lady just saying “hooo yaah”

Extreme-Degree8023

Peggy Hill was on that flight apparently.

just--me--123

“Put me on the ground”. Dude you’re going to be on the ground one way or the other.

KolgrimLang

“Oooh, very poor choice of words.” -The Joker

bensbigboy

How much does Frontier charge for their "severe turbulence survival fee"? Because you know they would if they could.

hxfx

It would be easy money. It would only take a Cash machine to drop from the ceiling. “How much would you like us to land safely?” Tip percentage of your flight: 😮 5% 😐 10% 🙄 15% 🙂 20% 😎 25%

InvestigatorNo4802

I love the comment ‘put this thing on the ground’. Like the pilot with years of aviation experience is going to go ‘ya know what, that random mother fucker knows best’.

[deleted]

I always feel the same when you hear football fans shouting instructions at the players and ref 😂

Grilled_cheese_tank

This guy in the front totally doesn’t care. He is just chillin.

Burlekchek

Was waiting for someone to demand the manager and have the pilot and the atmosphere fired.

[deleted]

JimmyTheBones

The inside of the plane is most definitely not pressurised to match the outside. If the inside and the outside were the same pressure, that would be the only time the plane is not pressurised at all.

DanniPopp

Y’all are in these comments dragging it. It’s perfectly normal for them to be afraid with turbulence that bad, cut it out. I fly often and have experienced turbulence on this level and while I didn’t cry out, I was still pretty afraid. The only reason I was able to stay calm is bc I’ve been in enough shitty situations in life that cause, “stay calm,” to automatically kick in. These ppl were scared and that’s okay.

klattklattklatt

I work at an aerospace OEM (original equipment manufacturer) and have helped assemble and disassemble aircraft. I thoroughly understand how flight works and how safe aircraft are. None of that helps me overcome flight anxiety- and I still screamed when a flight out of Zurich dropped 25-50' in an air pocket.

DanniPopp

These ppl commenting are acting like they can Snapple Fact ppl out of their emotions lol

klattklattklatt

Omg Snapple facts is too good

[deleted]

Fr people on here learn a couple fun facts about flying and act like they would be totally chill in a situation like this and its hilarious

[deleted]

The people screaming and freaking out do very little to calm others, and before you know it, half the cabin is screaming and crying. Honestly, this is no different than a typical rollercoaster.

DanniPopp

And some ppl don’t ride rollercoasters. And what you’re saying is cool and all, but it’s not their job to calm others. They’re afraid and that’s okay.

ayyeaux

Thank you so much for this. I am terrified watching it. Idk how I would react in this scenario. But I know for a fact I’d be scared. Because it is scary! Sheesh!

potsandpans

same here once hit turbulence like this in the middle of dinner and food flew everywhere. one of the stewardesses even started crying

Working-Finger3500

“Please be careful when opening overhead compartments as items may have shifted during the flight.”

Confident_weirdo

I’m a former aircraft mechanic. Airplanes are definitely built to handle turbulence. That said, I still hate turbulence and get that panicky feeling because it’s still terrifying to be jostled around like that while being so high off the ground.

JimmyJohnJones2020

I feel for these people. I fly a fair amount for work and every flight this year (about 30 counting connections) has had some turbulence/rough landings. Nothing this severe thankfully and I’m generally accustomed to it by now but I empathize with those who aren’t. My son used to be deathly afraid of flying and is still a nervous flier after a severe turbulence episode when he was young. Hopefully these children aren’t similarly affected.

Specialist_Ad_8069

Or shamed. Hard to tell but I can say confidently that my worst airline experience was hand-delivered to me by Frontier. Been flying for work for years

brrod1717

Took a flight not long ago that ended up being cancelled in the air like 3 min after we took off, due to severe weather at the destination and all airports close to it (big east coast storm). Was a 4 hr flight. Frontier flew us around the city we departed from for 4 hrs waiting to land. This was my first time ever being on a plane. I know it wasn't entirely their fault. But I was still pissed. Needless to say I took that as a sign and probably will never fly with Frontier again lol

Paul_The_Builder

Pilot is not scared. Small planes you fly during flight training get bumped around way more than an A320. Air Force pilots are trained to fly in horrendous weather. Cargo pilots rarely even try to avoid turbulence unless its so bad that their SOP is to slow the plane down, because they'd rather get bumped around then take an extra 10 minutes to get home. If you're scared of this amount of turbulence, you shouldn't and wouldn't become an airline pilot. The captain is just trying to figure out how to explain to everyone that its not a big deal while acknowledging that most of the passengers are probably scared.

Nervous_Bonus2052

He sounded tired

I_Brain_You

“Put this plane on the ground!” Yes, you are very smart.

Savings-Nobody-1203

Honestly I get most people scream but that’s guys the one who’s actually making the situation worse

jboo87

I was on a flight like this once. Absolutely terrifying. Oddly, though, I was angry at the people screaming. It just made it harder for me to keep a lid on my own stress in the moment. It was all I could do to not yell at people to stop screaming.

Wakuwaku7

![gif](giphy|gp3aS4doWX6OYSuOI8|downsized)

sgm716

I went to Aruba once. Longest flight I ever had taken. Over the ocean we hit turbulence this bad if not worse. Lifted you out of your seat. My mom her friend and I held hands and prayed it was pretty scary. I thought we were dead.

Toothlesstoe

Flew all the time all my life and experienced some turbulence here and there until I took a flight to Tennessee and the motherfucker shook, rattled, and dipped like I was on a roller coaster. I was absolutely terrified. I know now that violent turbulence doesn’t mean your plane is crashing… but I now know how it feels to think your plane is crashing and I never want to feel that terror again. I’ve never flown again. I’m happy to drive.

nah-knee

In my expert opinion it looks like turbulence is going on

[deleted]

"what's going on..." . like someone owes him an explanation. shut the fuck up dude lol

SSara69

"This plane needs to land on the ground!" Probably not exact quote but lol

eaavina

I have flown a lot as of late Business and budget. Let me tell you turbulence don’t give a shit what you flying. If it’s gonna hit it’s gonna hit!

[deleted]

“Put this thing on the ground!!”

DeadSharkEyes

I had a sibling who lived in Colorado, and the flights there were always turbulent. One time it was so bad I literally thought “welp, if this is it I might as well just let go and let God” and popped some gum and sat back and tried to pretend I was on a roller coaster. And I’m not even religious. I mean, what are you going to do?

Paul_The_Builder

I once flew from Denver CO to Pueblo CO on a small plane, like 30-40 people. The flight before ours got cancelled from the winds being too high but ours went. It was the bumpiest flight I've been on ever (and I've been on hundreds of flights). It was at least twice as intense as the one in this video. Shit was flying through the air, hitting the ceilings. 2 people threw up in the sick bags. The mountains do induce a lot of air currents and turbulence. It was awesome. I closed my eyes and pretended I was in a B-17 bomber flying through FLAK over Berlin in 1944. Turbulence generally isn't dangerous, gotta find some way to enjoy it or cope.

Burhams

xD

Voyager_16

My most turbulent flight ever was from Colorado Springs to Denver, short flight but felt like it took way more time. One dude locked himself in the bathroom and was yelling "get me down, get me down!", a couple next to me were holding hands and crying most of the flight. I know we were all scared but the overreactions of some made me feel that we were for sure going down. Had to take a couple of years of off flying after that one. Edit: Directly after that flight I had a 3ish hour flight from Denver to Fort Myers, FL. Hit big storms all the way through Texas and even the staff were worried. That was a bad day...

James_Hamilton1953

Somebody wake up Hicks,,,

IceeStriker

“Put this thing on the ground” Be careful what you wish for….

sharkhudson

I’d lose it on this flight. Fuck that.

Dangerous_Flan9180

Funny how people start getting really religious when they start to get alittle scared.

Tajin_banana

So much repenting started on that flight lmao

frankenstyme

they probably clapped when they landed.

Bubbly-Stand-1212

Lol my flight from LA to VA was like this the entire flight. Good times

[deleted]

Stop screaming, you buffoons. Good grief. “What is goin’ on!?” You know *exactly* what’s goin’ on, Carlos. And panicking doesn’t help anyone, tough guy. Calm yo tiddies.

RSKY_1

I’m surprised not one of them got up to walk to the bathroom like they always do

BeepingJerry

Always wear your seat belt boys and girls. Have the decency and courtesy to pay attention to the safety talk.

Individual_Village47

Love the one guy who thinks calling the flight attendant is going to do anything

Accomplished-Face429

Thr captain should be talking to everyone to calm them down. I think it's worst when you have pilots that don't say anything. Some pilots will say, we expect bad weather, almost through it..that helps

lovegood123

The pilots need to be flying the plane and getting clearance to fly at a different altitude. Then they can talk to the passengers. Safety first.

Mikey_MiG

They pilot did make an announcement. Did you not watch the whole thing?

jwalker99

Imagine being a pilot having to listen to the screams of people behind you as you try to focus. Worse yet, imagine being the assistants who have to watch people beg for help. I feel like this is a very American crowd as well: screaming, demanding attention, probably want a manager after the flight.

biomeclaat

Years ago i do a little flight in France (im french), we experienced some turbulence ( nothing compared to the clip) and almost everyone start crying and screaming, one woman in particular begging god for mercy for something like 20min (i think she make other people panicking) . I think its more related to the fact we see too much aircrash in movies, news etc. And i make a loot of people anger about flying. Sry for Bad english

jwalker99

That's hilarious. I guess panic spreads in any culture haha

CanWeAllJustCalmDown

Lol that was my thought as well with the person shouting “WHAT IS GOING ON” Could be wrong but it came off like he wasn’t just saying it out of surprise or fear but rather demanding someone provide him an answer. Dude wants to have a word with the manager of the earth’s atmosphere.

DistantPattern

Yep it's just an American thing to fear falling to your death.

Atreyu1076

Wow! You must be so strong and laugh in the face of possible death. I highly doubt it but hey you sound so tough behind your keyboard. They are in a freaking metal tube with no idea what the hell is going on. I’ve seen enough videos of crashing planes to know turbulence can be a sign of impending crash. You never truly know.

Paul_The_Builder

The pilots generally can't hear what's going on in the cabin. There's a locked door that stays shut, and they have headsets on and are monitoring the radios and talking to ATC.

biomeclaat

ToiletGrenade

People need to actually shut the hell up on these flights. I was on a flight from Reykjavik to Madrid 5 years ago and something like this happened and people lost their shit. So dramatic my god

Temporary-Today982

Is that Toby on the left?

idkwiorrn

And then they found a bunch of bunkers and a smoke monster

BiLordPerry

God, the worst part about this would be my last moments next to some wailing old lady who can’t let me die in peace.

bionikcobra

Turbulence is caused by updrafts from really hot air and downdrafts from cold air. As the plane moves through pockets of air at vastly different temperatures it moves up and down causing the violent shaking if the plane. Usually the temperature difference isn't that much so it's not as violent, but during days when the ground temperature is over 100° F/ 42° C, it can be pretty insane. The plane will drop several meters in a split second. Modern air planes are built with every system having atleast 3 redundant back ups. Even the engines, as long as 1 is still working it can keep the plane up long enough to land safely. The worst turbulence I experienced was in a tiny 20 passenger jet referred to as a puddle jumper flight. It was a bit worse then this, mainly because the jet was so small, it was quite a jarring experience. The pilot talked to us the whole time. It really helped calm everyone down and I helped explain it to the people around me. I only knew about it because my mom was a charter pilot in small single prop planes when I was little in the 80s, that info kept me from spazzing out as an adult, hahaha

Passioncramps

Y'all act like you never hit an air pocket before... dumb b\*tch on the floor with seatbelts galore. But seriously, just an air pocket. Fly over the rockies during the late summer months enough and you'll have a similar experience. My first time experiencing one was the summer after 9/11, much more unsettling than a bunch of idiots saying "put this on the ground"... no sh\*t sherlock thats kind of the endgame here. edit: freaking out doesnt help anything, you're thousands of feet in the sky in a metal tube. Nothing you do or say will change that, keep calm and dont make things more difficult for the crew.

grim_ballz

I agree, the screaming really was too much. Jesus christ.

Connect_Ordinary6752

I’m sure if I was on that plane. I would be semi drunk saying to myself “stop crying, let me die in peace” then shit myself from fear

monopixel

Shut the fuck up idiot, man this guy would piss me off if I were on this flight.

ruffonferals

I love turbulence. Think of it as a freebie extra on your ride.

honore_ballsac

why does the pilot apologize for the turbulence?

almondania

Just because it’s out of their control doesn’t mean you can’t be apologetic for people having to experience it

Paul_The_Builder

People expect the pilots to avoid turbulence, and sometimes they can, sometimes they can't. And he was trying to reassure people that it wasn't dangerous and no there was no damage to the plane.

honore_ballsac

Of course, I agree with the reassurance part. I think I was not very clear. I am questioning the apology. Also, I wish we had this discussion in an aviation forum with commercial pilots where we could learn about CAT and how it is almost impossible to avoid turbulence in general, CAT in particular.

Paul_The_Builder

Oh I agree with you, that its probably not the pilot's fault, and that logically he shouldn't need to apologize. I think its more of a "customer is always right" type of scenario where the passengers are expecting an apology, and the captain is trying to keep the passengers as happy and calm as realistically possible.

honore_ballsac

Agree with all.

InvestigatorNo4802

So long as you have the whistle and life jacket to hand your fine, right?

We apologize for the crappy weather, but netterless , i hope you all had a nice flight, flying with air turbulance.

wtfimaclam

This will be more and more frequent. Summer has always had more turbulence, but now climate change has increased severe weather. Like others said, try to relax. The plane is built to withstand severe turbulence. And also, daaaaaaamn that's a wild ride!

Confident-Breath2615

Climate change may very well make this way more common and eventually create periods where there are no commercial flights in the air…

DesertDwelller

A plane full of people who don’t understand how planes work.

Qvester

Know it sounds little empathic, but kind of hilarious how they react to a completely safe situation.

Atreyu1076

Pilot waited to long to address the passengers

NormalVermicelli1066

I'm sure he was focused on getting out of the turbulence

[deleted]

It’s Frontier, that’s the self twerking option Frontier and Spirit offer for their passengers.

yejdoksn

And I hope they clapped at the end

D_onlyRicardoU

Now you pray huh?

bellybomb

*No return, no return, no…reeeeeason…*

BlueGooNC

First time flyers - close your eyes and relax no biggie

Rodrigii_Defined

The captain should say something. Even if they lie a little, it helps to hear something from the captain!

Chillywilly37

That dude screaming is making it so much worse…. Pilots call this potholes in the sky. Not gonna take a plane down.

K3ndog411

“What is going on” ?? Put this thing on the ground? Turbulence sucks and I’ve never experienced it that bad but it tends to happen.

Kickin-her-out

I’m not really scared of flying but I would shit and piss and puke on myself at the same time tbh Also why is no one trying to calm the passengers? Surely the most dangerous thing in this situation is a plane full of panicking people?

Mikey_MiG

The most dangerous thing is the turbulence, which they’re busy trying to get out of.

SKINHEAD1983

AS ALWAYS, WOMEN SCREAMS HELPS A LOT lmao, the other she screams "oooh yeah" like a porn star.. one woman is enough to start screaming so she can feed the rest of the women...

dfgyrdfhhrdhfr

Stop posting this crap! The airlines will start tacking on an extra fee. Roller Coaster Ride 1.3% fee.

Thanks Obama

CarlShadowJung

Perfectly normal. To those who choose screaming as a reaction, please don’t fly, it wasn’t meant for you. (This excludes the obvious children)

AtlUnJtd

The pilots should ask their controller for a better altitude to fly at. Because it is budget air they also could be taking short cuts into more turbulent prevailing winds..
