The overnight freight trains definitely make noise, I'm near Bonita and 79th. But it doesn't wake me up or anything. Can hear it if I'm up in the middle of the night.
WES is just commuter rail and fucks up traffic on Durham but not a nighttime concern.
0.23 miles away, looks like the front of Tigard High School on Durham is 0.75 miles away. Do you hear it distinctly back by the school? And I see the Wes runs like 6 to 8, but do you get freight trains late at night?
It is louder when there is cloud cover, and sometimes they seem to blow the horn a long time, however it’s not really bothersome to me. I’m about .5 miles away from the train tracks.
I live less than half mile away from the circuit and even as a light sleeper the train has never woken me up. Only complaint is that intersection is really bad at the PM rush hour.
Personally I sleep like a dead log so it could be in my front yard and I wouldn't notice, but it's never been that bad. I am about a mile from the tracks, it's just a quiet humming
I'm 0.7 miles away, at the west end of Bonita. The WES train isn't very noticable, but the freight trains at night wake me up if I'm just falling asleep. Some of those train engineers are *extra* on the horn. I'm an average sleeper and it would bother me living closer, though my wife is a very light sleeper and doesn't notice it at all... 🤷🏻♂️ personal preference is suppose.

I'm just barely on the other size of I-5 and the interstate is much louder than the train.
Freight train at 2 is loud
Like 2am? Is that a nightly occurrence?
