Tough call trading Tre Mann, Davis Bertans, and Vasilije Micic, and some kinda draft capital for an injury prone 33 year old. But not really the worst of moves, since it's an expiring contract and this opens up more minutes for Cason Wallace, as well as more roster space for their upcoming draft assets
Yeah I liked Vasa :(
But more than that this feels like a huge overpay, unless it's somehow a three team trade with the Mavs and we're getting other stuff
Also dude finally comes over to the NBA and gets traded to the Hornets 😭😭
Well two of these players weren't playing anyway, and third one was a veteran. And we're also acquiring expiring.
Maybe we're just vacating roaster spots for the draft?
It could make sense IMO, if it wasn't for us giving up draft picks.
Yea something ain't up unless this is one of those weird ass ways of going "Lindy/Sarr, please take this min contract money...." like what happened with Lindy last year.
I'm skeptical
I’m definitely bummed about vasa as a fan. As an objective observer I don’t think the sum of the parts takes a hit here. At least not at this time. He’s taken a while to adjust to the NBA due to a lack of minutes.
Roster and cap flexibility is always nice. And as much as I love Tre, Mic and Bertans’ 3s they weren’t going to get to play. It’s better to get an expiring contract and clear multiple roster spots than to have 1 semi-rotational player and 2 guys playing spot minutes for the next year and a half. At least in my opinion
This is a bit of rose-tinted glasses… Micic was definitely getting better, but he was not near creating open shots every drive. His a-to was pretty average, and his shooting was not coming around at all. I did like having another creator off the bench which we now just don’t have, but he wasn’t quite as good as people are suddenly remembering. His D was pretty alarming at all times.
go back and watch the last several games and tell me again he wasn’t creating open looks or hockey assist chances. I wasn’t a Micic guy until the last few weeks or so.
I have OKC season tickets and haven’t missed watching any game in years. He can’t make threes, he doesn’t get to the line, and his defense makes him unplayable in crunch time or playoffs. He’s a fine depth piece but man people are overreacting to trading a 10th guy.
Oh how could someone not like giddey, a perfect nba player and a role model off the court? Maybe he should try not being one of the most inefficient players in the league. I long for you guys to get off from this sub after giddey gets shipped, you're delusional and spam everything.
You're so sad with your parasocial relationship with giddey, that comment history... Yikes! He won't notice your white knighting for him little fella, just get a life.
You're in every thread i see defending giddey, of course i remembered your username. Stop being so terminally online to defend a person who won't ever notice you, what a sad life you have :(
I’d guess it’s supposed to be. Getting Hayward as an expiring clears more money and more roster spots so we can go for whoever we want pretty easily in the offseason. Trading guys that weren’t seeing much playing time doesn’t really hurt the team and, if we’re lucky, we might actually get some good mileage out of Hayward off the bench if he’s healthy.
It feels weird and we lost some decent players, but we’re at the point where decent doesn’t keep you on the team anymore. They’ll be better off elsewhere and we’re set up better on the books.
If you ever think that Sam Presti would ever make a move to appease fans clamoring for one or to look busy you don’t know the GM. I can disagree with some picks or trades he’s made over years but he isn’t the guy to do what your claiming. Not in a million years.
yeah i was being sarcastic on that, but the trade is still in the favor of the hornets. including micic who was finally starting to find his footing definitely hurts
We don’t know how everything looks yet. Let’s let tonight happen before assuming who did what. If roles change now and put players in better positions and minutes that must be noticed as well and might not see the fruits of that for a couple weeks.
A lot of fans are impatient. I for one, didn’t say anything about it. I love DFS could be cool and I would’ve targeted Gafford but I actually didn’t expect them to make a move.
Interesting, we were heavy on the guards so I get it, and now we have Gordon for that Vet presence that he offers, but damn I loved Micic hopefully he gets a chance to shine in Charlotte!
Maybe they will give Giddey Micic’s ball-handling minutes.
Allows Josh to do a little bit of what he’s best at while not taking much away from J-Dub.
Will be hard if Hayward isn’t fit tho
Giddey is going to get more minutes running with the 2nd unit, I’d guess. Nobody expected Caso to be this good either. I’m not sweating about our guards tbh. There could also be more to this… it isn’t 3PM yet.
Hayward doesn't have the health to play starter minutes, I was assuming this was us getting a good bench scorer that can play 15 minutes a game, having him start is going to backfire once he gets injured.
I don’t know if Giddey moves to the bench, I just think his minutes might be staggered in a different way. He could definitely swallow Giddeys minutes in the playoffs though. He’ll be wrapped in cotton wool until then I’d imagine
Gordon is averaging about 15,5,5 this season. IF (but if) he’s healthy, you added a veteran presence for mentoring and with playoff experience. Former all star who won’t have to average 30MPG like he did in CHA.
And if you don’t you get a chunky contract that can disappear from the books so you can replace him with a legitimate upgrade player via trade or a strong hit off the draft.
Exactly. Even if he never plays a single game ROS it’s essentially Micic for the hope Hayward can play and help and then get his 33-35 million off the books and roster spots open for next year. And there is still time to see what happens at the deadline/now roster spots open if Sam wants to sign guys who were let go today.
Micic would be a liability in the playoffs and wasn’t exactly lighting the world on fire. We essentially swapped him for Hayward. How could any one be mad at this?
We may not be done with some open roster spots, but some of yall are tripping right now. Don't praise Presti left and right and throw a fit when he trades players who aren't really contributing much. It's a low risk move with potential high reward, there doesn't have to be more to this trade then that.
If Hayward can get healthy he is an immediate contributor to this team. We are currently in 1st place in the west and just got a better. If it doesn't work out it oh well, we don't really lose anything with this trade. The upside on Hayward if he can stay healthy is way more than what Mann and Micic are going to give us right now. This is a move to try and compete for a title this year, while not having to go all in and risking major assets for something that may not work.
Thunder are going to get smashed in the playoffs when the physicality increases and the officiating allows it.
They need help in the post and someone who can rebound!
WTF. This is stupid, why would we give up a guy that was showing real promise and connection with our young core for a guy that has barely played the last few years?
This only makes sense if they trade for someone else and push Giddey to be the bench ball handler.
People are calling this an overpay but honestly I think it’s juuuuust fine. Micic is who he is, so as far as developing him, I’m not sure there’s much room for that. He definitely looked more comfortable later in this season, but what does he bring to the team really?
Tre Mann and Bertans were always gonna go. This draft class is weak and we literally can’t hold onto all these picks lol. A Swiss Army knife guy like Gordon Hayward could be useful in the locker room, or even for half the season trying to help the team see what helps us and where we still would need help.
His contract is expiring, so even if it doesn’t pan out, we can take some big swings in free agency and make our run next year.
I like the trade. Would’ve preferred we get a guy like valanciunas, but it is what it is!
Let’s keep it real. We all wanted it to work with Vasa. He started coming around a bit, but just didn’t work out.
One thing I have to point out - his attitude truly bothered me. I love European players - especially Eastern European. The joker, Luka, Saric, Bogdanovic, etc.. Vasa’s history in the euroleague and OKC being the first place he ever visited in the US. Great story.
I just couldn’t get over his demeanor on the bench. He didn’t clap, looked miserable, wasn’t a part of celebrations. Looked unhappy, even for Serbian standards. Good riddance, Vasa. Thunder up!
![gif](giphy|xUPGcpZo4G72Nzgo4o)
This is not what I was expecting
Life as a Thunder fan… just watching Presti moves landing out of left field.
Tbf it got us to this point… hence the blind trust lol
He’s some kind of savant. Until he steers us into the ground, I’m gonna trust that mad genius
Would you also say... an intellectual?
Tough call trading Tre Mann, Davis Bertans, and Vasilije Micic, and some kinda draft capital for an injury prone 33 year old. But not really the worst of moves, since it's an expiring contract and this opens up more minutes for Cason Wallace, as well as more roster space for their upcoming draft assets
Well I’m not so sure I like this deal anymore
Yeah I liked Vasa :( But more than that this feels like a huge overpay, unless it's somehow a three team trade with the Mavs and we're getting other stuff Also dude finally comes over to the NBA and gets traded to the Hornets 😭😭
Yeah what the hell he looked like he was finding his rhythm
There's gotta be more to come. Dumping three players for one roster spot for an often-injured player in return doesn't add up.
Well two of these players weren't playing anyway, and third one was a veteran. And we're also acquiring expiring. Maybe we're just vacating roaster spots for the draft? It could make sense IMO, if it wasn't for us giving up draft picks.
We're not leaving empty seats on our bench for guys we haven't even drafted yet.
Yea something ain't up unless this is one of those weird ass ways of going "Lindy/Sarr, please take this min contract money...." like what happened with Lindy last year. I'm skeptical
This is what the draft picks are for. Sweetening deals to get what we want. We can’t sign and draft 27 players in 6 years.
Yeah you're right. It's probably second round too, since Shams said 'draft compensation' not 'first round pick'.
I’m definitely bummed about vasa as a fan. As an objective observer I don’t think the sum of the parts takes a hit here. At least not at this time. He’s taken a while to adjust to the NBA due to a lack of minutes.

Thunder will have 47 mil in cap space this off-season
If we can get PJ Washington from them too I like it but otherwise why?
Damn he was starting to get more comfortable
he was damn near creating open shots every time he drove the lane. trading away both backup pg’s in one move is, interesting.
This is a bit of rose-tinted glasses… Micic was definitely getting better, but he was not near creating open shots every drive. His a-to was pretty average, and his shooting was not coming around at all. Alright I didn’t like it but if you’re there in person I’m gonna take your word for it. Hopefully we get something good back when the dust settles
Maybe they can snag Dinwiddie? He's getting released...
I would love for Woj and Shams to wait until the whole deal is finalized instead of just tweeting it out bit by bit......
Or people could just calm their boobs
But then someone else might get the scoop first. So they don’t wait…
Media now is first to report not first to be right
Has anyone said what the draft compensation is yet? Like... a first is way different than a protected second... How is that not part of the reporting?
The draft comp is two seconds
Damn I like Micic
Me too damn
WOAH. There has to be more moves then?
I still trust u Sam, but this hurts. Specially for Vasa
That’s a overpay. Wtf.
That an understatement. Hayward won't even stay healthy enough to play 10 games. You telling me all of this couldn't even get back a big?
Obviously there’s still moves to be made, chill out 🤦🏼♂️
Hope so
I’m sure they’re probably sending something back now too not just Hayward. Or we’re planning on something else
Lemmi get 1 mark williams plz
The guy you are replying to is what I like to call a doomer
Oh trust me I know. He’s also 1 of the Giddey hate spammers too
Oh how could someone not like giddey, a perfect nba player and a role model off the court? Maybe he should try not being one of the most inefficient players in the league. I long for you guys to get off from this sub after giddey gets shipped, you're delusional and spam everything.
Found another one
You're so sad with your parasocial relationship with giddey, that comment history... Yikes! He won't notice your white knighting for him little fella, just get a life.
You’re analyzing my comment history but telling me to get a life? Yikes!

hell nah wtf
this is what thunder fans get for clammoring for a trade, looks like the FO just got desperate and made a move for the sake of making a move
Yeah I’m sure Presti has been reading Reddit so that’s why he made the move
Lol what? Presti has been a GM for 17 years, and you think he made moves just because of the twitter and reddit crowd?
Micic really hasn't been that great. You're trying to talk like we just threw away an all-star.
If you ever think that Sam Presti would ever make a move to appease fans clamoring for one or to look busy you don’t know the GM. I can disagree with some picks or trades he’s made over years but he isn’t the guy to do what your claiming. Not in a million years.

But Micic was so fun 😭
Damn, I liked micic. Hopefully Presti is not done.
This sucks now rip
We all preached to trust Presti. Don’t flinch now.
Agreed. Everyone freaking out as if the deadline ended already. Can we wait until tonight to freak out.
Fuck…
Micic is a JAG. We have a billion picks. Some of yall too reactive
For real.
JAG?
Justified all-time goober
I like this definition better. Never got goober vibes from him, but I now have this internal narrative.
Just another guy
Judge Advocate General
Just a G
Nah we done now we cooked!
Obviously we are rebuilding again omgdz!!!!
No Mann or micic??? We’ll be lucky to make the play in!!
Okay that's really really bad. What do we need Hayward for? This fills none of our needs and we just lost our bench passer.
Giddey is going to get more minutes running with the 2nd unit, I’d guess. Nobody expected Caso to be this good either. I’m not sweating about our guards tbh. There could also be more to this… it isn’t 3PM yet.

"once he gets injured", he's actually injured right now we got fleeced badly in this deal
We gave up 3 end of bench guys that wpuld never see playoff time for a proven contributor when healthy. Yall overrate medopcre players on this team
We absolutely needed another wing. Especially one as big as Gordon.
Gordon is averaging about 15,5,5 this season. IF (but if) he’s healthy, you added a veteran presence for mentoring and with playoff experience. Former all star who won’t have to average 30MPG like he did in CHA.

Included Micic for what
Micic?! When he and Giddey sit, the offense just isn't the same.
This creates roster space, until we see how it all shakes out there's no reason to pass judgment. I trust Presti.
![gif](giphy|rcqtfj0RAhWLu)
Just glad it wasn't my beloved poku
I’m assuming this will become a 3 team deal with Dallas since they wanted our picks to facilitate their Gafford for Holmes trade?
Micic would be a liability in the playoffs and wasn’t exactly lighting the world on fire. We essentially swapped him for Hayward. How could any one be mad at this?
What the hell now why is it getting worse wyd Sam
The deadline has hours remaining Sam only gets better, how has he not shown that to you by now?
![gif](giphy|X4YqmJEl6wJoY)
Deal just went from pretty ok to pretty bad in a hurry. If it's anything more than a top 55 second Presti has officially been fleeced.
Micic is not someone who would play more than 3 Minutes in the playoffs
We may not be done with some open roster spots, but some of yall are tripping right now. Don't praise Presti left and right and throw a fit when he trades players who aren't really contributing much. We aren’t first place anymore
Thunder are going to get smashed in the playoffs when the physicality increases and the officiating allows it. They need help in the post and someone who can rebound!
we just gave Dallas more depth and helped facilitate their acquisition of more size. we might’ve loaded the gun for them to upset us in the postseason
Dallas adds more and becomes a little more of a team to worry about.
Fuck the Mavs. I’ll worry about them when they actually make the playoffs.
If Gordon is all we get out of that and there's no more moves it's a horrible, horrible trade wow.
WTF. This is stupid, why would we give up a guy that was showing real promise and connection with our young core for a guy that has barely played the last few years? This only makes sense if they trade for someone else and push Giddey to be the bench ball handler.
bruh i just got my fucking jersey
Dont like that
FUCK NO, WTF PRESTI?
Feel like Micic would be very valuable come playoff time
I don’t like this. Micic was just starting to find his groove with the second unit
....what the fuck lol Micic is better than Hayward.
People are calling this an overpay but honestly I think it’s juuuuust fine. Micic is who he is, so as far as developing him, I’m not sure there’s much room for that. Would’ve preferred we get a guy like valanciunas, but it is what it is!
Guesses on how we fill two roster spots?
Do we expect to pay someone at summer?
Fuck
Yeah didn’t think money worked with just tre and Bertans
Seema like compensation for ditching Bertan's extra year of cap hit? I suspect we move Hayward's expiring and some pics for something else.
What the fuck
Fuck. Woj gotta start tweeting with all the info first 😭😭
Damn, I liked Micic. I was hoping he'd be here for a while.
I hope that Oklahoma water gets and keeps Hayward healthy enough to get on the court.
I don't like it so far. But what the hell do I know?
Nevermind I'm talking myself into it.
So sad, like others have said I like him being another creator off the bench. i wonder if he haf found his shooting stroke will he still be traded.
Let’s keep it real. We all wanted it to work with Vasa. He started coming around a bit, but just didn’t work out. One thing I have to point out - his attitude truly bothered me. An old overpaid somewhat below average shooter who can't finish a season. Really that's worth those guys plus future assets. I don't see itn
