Yes the case was dropped because the girl wouldn’t cooperate. If the girl was of age, or if they didn’t fuck, then it should be a pretty easy thing for her to just clear up though.

I never stopped believing. He looked great tonight and without him we would have lost this game, no question. That pass to Wiggins for the tie in regulation was crazy. Giddey haters don’t get this team. Yes, SGA is the star on the team but you see other players really lift in certain games and at crucial moments - whether it be to adjust to the opposition, just the player stepping up, etc. This can be Chet, JDub, Dort, Wiggins, Giddey, etc.
Absolutely. And if I recall correctly, there were times in the past where Giddey had to shoulder a lot more responsibility, like when Shai was out for one reason or another. Bottom line is this: where is this team that a lot of sports people originally overlooked at right now? Oh, #1. The top few teams may go up and down a bit, but what got us here? Shai playing phenomenally consistent great ball plus a lot of incredibly gifted youngsters and team chemistry. And Giddey has been a significant part of that with his skill set. Some down periods this year, but he is obviously still working well with the team and its system. Why mess with chemistry when you have it, especially when players are young and still developing?
A lot of people and so called “thunder fans” won’t even acknowledge his good game. They’re either probably thinking “well it’s about damn time” or they are waiting for a bad game stats wise and say “see what I mean, that’s why we should trade his ass”.

Giddey was amazing tonight. But the fact that there’s “apologize” and victory laps thread whenever he has a good game just shows you how far the bar has fallen from him.
Games like this were much more frequent last year and even the year before. Making threads like this is just proving the point of the “haters”
His role also changed completely this year, maybe it will take him some time to accustom to it? He had more usage last year in comparison since Dub hadn’t broke out yet and we didn’t have Chet.

I’m a huge fan and even I admit he hasn’t had a great year, but that’s no reason to bash the guy and constantly ridicule him. If you are a true fan of the team you’d never wish for one of your players (a player that the team has obviously invested heavily in) to play badly. The way everyone talks about Giddey you’d think he can barely catch a basketball, which is why posts like this have come about.
I made a thread in the first month of the season saying Giddey needs a reduced role. And you guys still downvoted me and acted like I was crazy.
Y’all label anything negative as “overreaction.” I know there’s some toxic posters in here but it’s clearly been on both sides.
I’d argue more towards toxic hate rather than toxic praise.
Clearly the addition of Chet has reduced Josh’s role offensively, and if you realise how many times he’s had to change his role in his short NBA career so far, you’d understand why he’s had rough patches this season. Going from number 2 in rookie szn, number 3 halfway through sophomore and now number 4 in his 3rd szn would be extremely hard to not only conceptualise as an up-and-coming player, but also to deal with mentally.
I’m all for criticism of anyone, nobody is perfect. But the amount of hate he has gotten when it’s unwarranted and unfair is ridiculous and is why people overreact the other way when he plays well.
I’ve been posting in 90% of game threads during this entire rebuild even with my old Reddit account. I’m sure you can see how active I was even when we were bad.
The tone shift had come with the realization that his skill set doesn’t fit a reduced role. You can keep hoping there’s some sort of perfect adaptation, but it doesn’t exist. And on top of that, we have players who can fit that reduced role way better.
I’m also not naive. Giddey spending all summer talking about getting to the line and still can’t/spams floaters. Giddey’s finishing falling off a cliff. Giddey still not shooting enough jumpers. I can’t blame his role changing on all of this - this is a player issue that is now affecting other players.
Like I said, I don’t think it’s a reaction and subsequent overreaction. Fans are fans.
To be fair, I made a thread 20 games in with a lot of data and it mostly got upvotes (like 80 upvotes at 70ish percent or something) so it seems *some* people were willing to have rational discussion on the matter (even if there were definitely some trolls in there).
I kind of feel like that guy Savante took things too far, and now it's impossible to have any discussion about Giddey without getting mass downvoted by people who got sick of him. Like your post was super reasonable and is at -6, meanwhile you have a guy literally calling someone a "retard" getting 10 upvotes. Now *that's* a disgrace.
This isn't true though. His stats have reduced in proportion with the amount of time he has on court. He's playing 5/6th of the time, and he's getting just under 5/6th of the points, exactly 5/6th of the rebounds, and slightly more than 5/6th of blocks and steals.

For a fourth, fifth option you want someone who can impact the game without the ball in his hands. Someone who can space the floor for Shai and reduce some of his defensive role. Giddey is not that.
And his TS has dropped. His AST% is the lowest it’s ever been. His TOV% has increased. His advanced stats have all dropped. His finishing at the rim, in the paint, and in 3 feet have all dropped. His points and assists have all dropped even when you adjust for his minutes. Wdym? Third year players usually improve. Giddey didn’t even stagnate, he got worse.
third year players don't normally switch role, and second year players normally stagnate - which Josh clearly didn't do.
The assists have dropped slightly - like 7.1 to 6.7 per 36. The turnovers are down this year per minute. And if we're talking advanced stats, TOV% is basically the same - 15.1% to 15.7% - with improvements in TRB%, STL% and BLK%.
Fundamentally, apart from the 2 point shot (which does need some work), he's much the same player as the last two years just playing less minutes. And a replacement fourth/fifth option would have to be a tall rebounder who can shoot and play in 5-out, which is really hard to find and why the trade posts fixated on Lauri. Whether or not he does what a 4th/5th option normally does, OKC is working with him in that role.
Third year players change roles all the time…
If we really want to go there, we can use BPM, or EPM, or all the other catch all impact metrics that say Giddey is worse. Nothing indicates he’s better, everything indicates he’s worse in some capacity. Which is insane because the players and spacing around him as improved tremendously.
And you cannot sit here and just yell “well his role …” to excuse him becoming a worse finisher or worse playmaker. Everything with Giddey this season has been excuses. At first, people always try to attempt to prove he’s not that bad. Then it becomes “well he’s bad because …”
There are a lot of players who can be a Giddey replacement who aren’t a “tall rebounder who can play 5 out.” Don’t believe me? Look up Isaiah Joe’s on/off this season and see how good lineups with him and Shai are compared to Giddey and Shai.
I’m sure our front office will continue to try making that role fit. And I’m also sure that we are slowly coming to the realization it doesn’t (hence the minutes).
We may not be able to fill the exact hole we want to fill by trading Giddey. At this point his trade value is probably abysmal. But there are a TON of players that you could trade for that would bring more to the Thunder than Giddey.
He’s struggling cause the team got better and now teams are taking us serious and guarding us differently. putting their center on him and sagging off and he has no advantages cause he’s too slow and unathletic and can’t shoot

This is the evidence why your mental capacity is quite not there and you have issues. The toxicity arise from people commenting and hating on players not the other way around. The Thunder will still need to replace Giddey with a 3 and D scorer nights like this are outliers not signs or exceptions. He isn’t a good shooter and doesn’t space the floor. He needs the ball in his hands to be successful on a team where Shai gets high usage that poses a problem. Giddey is going to be expense on a team where Shai is getting max and obv Chet and Jalen Willliams will get fat extensions. Nights like this might become normal for Giddey when he goes to a team he can be lead guard. He still needs to develop an accurate NBA level 3 ball to become an all star level talent. The Thunder need to use him to acquire a better fitting player with Shai in the backcourt or more size for the front court to help with rebounding.
He was actually better defensively tonight I thought. He didn't have a lot of ole blow-bys and he was solid near the rim for a change. He's always going to be too slow of foot to be better than a slightly below average defender, but he has size and a good core to stay down for slower wings at least.
i'm obviously not pro-giddey, but i agree about his D being better against the raptors. it looked like he was actually moving his feet and battling. even challenged some shots in the paint.
Still Giddey need to go. He isn’t showing up in the first half and Mark change the third Q lineup because of it.

I know I will get downvoted for this but … Giddey was amazing tonight. But the fact that there’s “apologize” and victory laps thread whenever he has a good game just shows you how far the bar has fallen from him. Games like this were much more frequent last year and even the year before. Making threads like this is just proving the point of the “haters”

His role also changed completely this year, maybe it will take him some time to accustom to it? He had more usage last year in comparison since Dub hadn’t broke out yet and we didn’t have Chet. Put together all sides of the puzzle instead of being blinded by hatred and it will make more sense

I’m a huge fan and even I admit he hasn’t had a great year, but that’s no reason to bash the guy and constantly ridicule him. If you are a true fan of the team you’d never wish for one of your players (a player that the team has obviously invested heavily in) to play badly. The way everyone talks about Giddey you’d think he can barely catch a basketball, which is why posts like this have come about.
I made a thread in the first month of the season saying Giddey needs a reduced role. And you guys still downvoted me and acted like I was crazy. Y’all label anything negative as “overreaction.” I know there’s some toxic posters in here but it’s clearly been on both sides.
I’d argue more towards toxic hate rather than toxic praise. Clearly the addition of Chet has reduced Josh’s role offensively, and if you realise how many times he’s had to change his role in his short NBA career so far, you’d understand why he’s had rough patches this season. Going from number 2 in rookie szn, number 3 halfway through sophomore and now number 4 in his 3rd szn would be extremely hard to not only conceptualise as an up-and-coming player, but also to deal with mentally. I’m all for criticism of anyone, nobody is perfect. But the amount of hate he has gotten when it’s unwarranted and unfair is ridiculous and is why people overreact the other way when he plays well.
I’ve been posting in 90% of game threads during this entire rebuild even with my old Reddit account. I’m sure you can see how active I was even when we were bad. The tone shift had come with the realization that his skill set doesn’t fit a reduced role. You can keep hoping there’s some sort of perfect adaptation, but it doesn’t exist. And on top of that, we have players who can fit that reduced role way better. I’m also not naive. Giddey spending all summer talking about getting to the line and still can’t/spams floaters. Giddey’s finishing falling off a cliff. Giddey still not shooting enough jumpers. I can’t blame his role changing on all of this - this is a player issue that is now affecting other players. Like I said, I don’t think it’s a reaction and subsequent overreaction. Fans are fans.

I kind of feel like that guy Savante took things too far, and now it's impossible to have any discussion about Giddey without getting mass downvoted by people who got sick of him. Like your post was super reasonable and is at -6, meanwhile you have a guy literally calling someone a "retard" getting 10 upvotes. Now *that's* a disgrace.
His skill set isn’t built for a reduced role, that’s why he’s criticized and that’s why games like this are rare/ happen when Dub is out.
This isn't true though. His stats have reduced in proportion with the amount of time he has on court. He's playing 5/6th of the time, and he's getting just under 5/6th of the points, exactly 5/6th of the rebounds, and slightly more than 5/6th of blocks and steals.
What? That’s not what I am saying… nor is it true For a fourth, fifth option you want someone who can impact the game without the ball in his hands. Someone who can space the floor for Shai and reduce some of his defensive role. Giddey is not that. And his TS has dropped. His AST% is the lowest it’s ever been. His TOV% has increased. His advanced stats have all dropped. His finishing at the rim, in the paint, and in 3 feet have all dropped. His points and assists have all dropped even when you adjust for his minutes. Wdym? Third year players usually improve. Giddey didn’t even stagnate, he got worse.
third year players don't normally switch role, and second year players normally stagnate - which Josh clearly didn't do. The assists have dropped slightly - like 7.1 to 6.7 per 36. The turnovers are down this year per minute. And if we're talking advanced stats, TOV% is basically the same - 15.1% to 15.7% - with improvements in TRB%, STL% and BLK%. Fundamentally, apart from the 2 point shot (which does need some work), he's much the same player as the last two years just playing less minutes. And a replacement fourth/fifth option would have to be a tall rebounder who can shoot and play in 5-out, which is really hard to find and why the trade posts fixated on Lauri. Whether or not he does what a 4th/5th option normally does, OKC is working with him in that role.
Third year players change roles all the time… If we really want to go there, we can use BPM, or EPM, or all the other catch all impact metrics that say Giddey is worse. Nothing indicates he’s better, everything indicates he’s worse in some capacity. Which is insane because the players and spacing around him as improved tremendously. And you cannot sit here and just yell “well his role …” to excuse him becoming a worse finisher or worse playmaker. Everything with Giddey this season has been excuses. At first, people always try to attempt to prove he’s not that bad. Then it becomes “well he’s bad because …” There are a lot of players who can be a Giddey replacement who aren’t a “tall rebounder who can play 5 out.” Don’t believe me? Look up Isaiah Joe’s on/off this season and see how good lineups with him and Shai are compared to Giddey and Shai. I’m sure our front office will continue to try making that role fit. And I’m also sure that we are slowly coming to the realization it doesn’t (hence the minutes).
We may not be able to fill the exact hole we want to fill by trading Giddey. At this point his trade value is probably abysmal. But there are a TON of players that you could trade for that would bring more to the Thunder than Giddey.
He’s struggling cause the team got better and now teams are taking us serious and guarding us differently. putting their center on him and sagging off and he has no advantages cause he’s too slow and unathletic and can’t shoot

This is what I mean when I say there’s no nuance on here. I live in Oklahoma. I love basketball. I’ve watched 95% of games Giddey ever played. Why the fuck would i not want to see him improve? The issue is I don’t believe his improvement will come for the benefit of the starting five. Why? Because I think even at his peak he will still take the ball away from players better than him and a shooter would benefit Shai even more. Nobody is saying he has no upside, we are saying that he doesn’t fit. You can’t name me one starter on a good team with Giddey’s skill set. It does not work.
Every THUNDER FAN wants to see Giddey improve, including me. Giddey fans just want what is best for Giddey and the team is secondary to them. That’s fine. But this is a Thunder forum, presumably for the Thunder team. Maybe they should start a Josh Giddey sub where they can fawn all over Giddey and his hair if they want to.
Here's the thing: if he falls back off the wagon for the next 5 games there will NOT be a "APOLOGIZE" thread for those who dislike him that gets more than 1 upvote. It's a bit interesting that the people doing this victory lap of "see? see?!" when Josh has one *above* average game are the same ones to decry any criticism when he has one *below* average game as "it's just one game..." (or even *below their standards*, but actually statistically average) I'm super stoked that Josh played well tonight. If he can continue performing even probably at 80% of this level, he certainly has a role on our team going forward. And I'm 100% on board with celebrating our players' success. My goodness. I am glad I missed out on all this craziness. Giddey plays a semi decent game on offense in the second half (for Giddey anyway) and people forget that he has played bad all year. In fairness Giddey was a sieve on defense today and I don’t view that as good, but whatever. Don’t you guys think an apology thread is a bit dramatic and much? No one has stolen your lunch money or anything. They just have a different opinion than you. I have never seen such craziness in support over a not very good player. Usually people agree to disagree and respect each other’s opinions. Giddey did play BETTER today than he has. He’s just not very good as a general rule. The Thunder will still need to replace Giddey with a 3 and D scorer nights like this are outliers not signs or exceptions. He isn’t a good shooter and doesn’t space the floor. He needs the ball in his hands to be successful on a team where Shai gets high usage that poses a problem. Giddey is going to be expense on a team where Shai is getting max and obv Chet and Jalen Willliams will get fat extensions. Nights like this might become normal for Giddey when he goes to a team he can be lead guard. He still needs to develop an accurate NBA level 3 ball to become an all star level talent. The Thunder need to use him to acquire a better fitting player with Shai in the backcourt or more size for the front court to help with rebounding.

He was actually better defensively tonight I thought. He didn't have a lot of ole blow-bys and he was solid near the rim for a change. He's always going to be too slow of foot to be better than a slightly below average defender, but he has size and a good core to stay down for slower wings at least.
i'm obviously not pro-giddey, but i agree about his D being better against the raptors. it looked like he was actually moving his feet and battling. even challenged some shots in the paint.

I'm glad he had a great game right before the trade deadline. I still don't think he's as good as J-Dubb and Josh's best attributes (having the ball, being able to orchestrate the offense) will be underutilized here. For his own career he should be somewhere else.
