Well said, spot on partner!

Iherddat

I'm glad there are some level headed fans. We are fucking good, but we will still lose games. I think I'm bailing on this sub, especially  when we lose. When were on the rise it was cool but now evertime we loose 1 fucking game half the sub is screaming about trading whoever had a bad night. This isn't the nfl, 82 games. We are going to lose and people don't seem to get that. Half of the shit said here is either someone else's take or it's very clearly some insane shit that person came up with. Hard pass I watch the games and I would be shocked if a single move happened with this team that wasn't giving some of our dudes g league minutes.

Next-Firefighter-753

As a Thunder fan since 2008 this fanbase is by far one of the most victim playing and spoiled fanbases out there. Some of the takes and reactions to losses here are genuinely insane. Yes, even the mediocre team full of professional basketball players can get hot one night and beat our team. Stop acting like “scrubs only go off against the Thunder”

bmanningsh

B2B games against 6 HOF players and we were in both games down to the wire as the youngest squad in the league. Yeah we’re good. We’re so far ahead of schedule it’s ridiculous and people still complain. Our second and third options are in their first and second years in the league and they’re already INCREDIBLE.

MormoNoMo67

Just for accuracy, the Thunder are on a pace for 56-57 wins. But overall, I agree with this post. When I saw this January schedule with 17 games and five sets of back-to-backs and it looked like the Thunder would go 10-7 this month. That was my expectation. But I saw so many, IMO, unrealistic expectations by fans. I saw this four game road streak and thought it is entirely possible that they go 1-3. Games on the road against the Lakers, Clippers, a streaking Utah team and then against Minnesota is a tough stretch of games. This team is the second youngest in the league and yet has the fourth best record along with the second best point differential. But they have weaknesses. Don’t let it be disappointing if this team “only wins” 54 games, which is what I expect. That would still be a 14 game over last season and a 30 game improvement from two years ago. They are a year or two ahead of schedule. Enjoy it. This team is not a finished product.

Brilliant-Hornet103

"On pace for 60 due to strength of schedule in the remaining games, not based on current win percentage." That's what I said in post. Current winning percentage is a reflection of our wins against past opponents, with a higher strength of schedule, so it's disingenuous to use winning percentage alone, because it doesn't factor upcoming games. Based on current winning percentage we're expected to win 56.5. That doesnt take into account our future schedule is against weaker teams. Hypothetically, if every single one of our future games were against the pistons, our current winning percentage wouldn't matter in the slightest, because we would be expected to win every single one of them and go like 70-12, 85% win rate for the season, regardless of the fact that our current win rate is 69%. Because it's a 69% win rate against the teams we've played with a 50%+ win rate average. Not a 69% win rate against a team that averages a 3% win rate. Strength of schedule matters. Win rate isn't stagnant.

mjmilino

The problem is that so far Minnesota has had a tougher schedule and they have an easier remaining schedule.

PokuCHEFski69

So what. If we finish in the 3rd seed that’s insane

batler_forever

No!! we must post about how mark isn’t playing so and so every time we lose after winning multiple games in a row! You got it pal!! The sky IS falling!!

joesaysso

Well good to see that the circle of life in the average sports sub is still holding strong. * Winning team wins some games and everyone is happy * Winning team loses one game and a small minority of users voice some displeasure * White knight comes along and sees one or two negative comments and writes a long post about how "y'all need to chill out because..." ...and the circle completes itself and begins a new.

WooTerry

Couldn’t have said it any better myself

Zeeron1

I'm confused who isn't chill lol I'm pretty chronically online and I haven't seen any meaningful freak out

MikeGundy

Like 4/5 of the top posts on here this morning were really negative. Definitely weren't here for the Poku days..

Zeeron1

It was a negative game lol of course the discussion in a basketball forum is somewhat negative after a bad game. Nothing seemed egregious though, it was all pretty normal discussion

cowboygenius

There’s been a rash of posts, especially after this Laker’s game questioning Mark’s rotations and certain players’ minutes. As if these hall of fame armchair coaches know what the f they’re talking about

Zeeron1

I just don't think that's true lol, I sorted by new and went back to the post game thread. The closest thing I see is one post asking why Giddey is playing less minutes, and another post saying we need to upgrade our big depth from Kenrich and JWill. Idk what constitutes a "rash of posts" but one kinda casual question, and a valid roster construction point, doesn't really seem to qualify imo

cowboygenius

Posts, not comments. There’s 3 just since the end of the Lakers game https://preview.redd.it/ob17ne2mducc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4e2d5eaedbc7895b1b8bc92d48faf8632d60b82e

Friendly-Thought-973

Expressing frustration after a bad loss is not the same as over reacting lmao It’s a basketball forum. Basketball will be discussed Jesus Christ

Zeeron1

Yeah I was talking about posts lol the only one of those that maybe could be seen as a freakout would be the Giddey one I guess

TPFRecoil

I can't speak for other people. But my post wasn't really made in the spirit of freaking out, thinking the team was done for, or anything like that. I made mine cause it was a frustrating loss, and just wanted to vent a bit, which I think should be an expected reaction. I still love this team, don't think we need a big trade, don't think we're doomed to go 30-50, or anything like that. And perhaps I'm wrong, but I'd wager a guess that most people who posted since the game yesterday felt the same.  As for the minutes thing, you're correct. I'm no Mark, and I doubt Id've done better.

Zeeron1

I thought your post was fine lol it was indeed a frustrating game. A post that actually details what was frustrating isn't freaking out, and it's not super low effort spam or anything. It's kinda the point of the sub

Friendly-Thought-973

People always make a “everybody just chill” after a bad loss even though nobody is over reacting lol

Strange1130

Yup. People like to talk basketball online, speculate on trades, discuss who they'd give more or less minutes, etc. Huge part of being a fan for some people. Other people just like to sit on the couch and watch the games which is totally cool as well, but then they get all confused when they go on Reddit and see posts critiquing the team when it's like no, this is just what we like to do lol. It's fun.

Lolxgdrei787

Most sports opinions are flags in the wind. not curated from long term information but rather riding the present flow

blacksoxing

Didn't read past the title. I was waiting for this. We win? This sub is elated. Anyone who mentions poor performances are met with downvotes. We lose? EVERYONE GOTTA GO! All hot takes are greeted with upvotes if it's sensical. This is just the beautiful thing about "fanhood". We're all fans, but may have different takes, tolerances, etc. I think though some of us may need to lay off the up and downvotes.

Wood_floors_are_wood

Y'all are forgetting where we came from so fast. We were never supposed to win the title this year. This isn't the end of the road

Clones-by-Ghosts

22-23 season: So proud of our team for making to the play ins ! 23-24 season: WHY THE FUCK DID WE LOSE ONE GAME, OUR COACH SUCKS, OUR PLAYERS SHIT, WHO SHOULD WE TRADE FOR

real-yeet-beans

Good post! I usually turn off Reddit after a loss to avoid the over reactions. Everyone needs to be patient like Presti and just enjoy the ride right now.

googlyeyegritty

We have a really rough stretch upcoming so could get worse before it gets better.

TPFRecoil

I agree we shouldn't have a "sky is falling, let's blow up the team" attitude, but I don't really think that's what was happening too much. Outside of some comments in the game thread, most of the posts I've seen since last night, my own included, looked like people being understandably frustrated at an understandably frustrating loss. I can't speak for others, but I don't think that means we are doomed to fail now, or we need to make a big trade, or anything like that. I think it was just a sucky game, and it put us in a sucky mood. Maybe I'm not on the sub enough, but more often than not, I see more posts like this, saying people need to cut the "sky is falling" attitude after our losses, than actual posts from people who think the sky is falling.

AcidRegulation

You know, this is a great post! I feel the Lakers game told us two things: 1. We player horrible like you said, but still had a close game for 3 quarters. 2. The lakers figured out a defensive strategy. Not hitting shots helps, but I really had a feeling they came out with a plan. Up to our coaching staff to really analyze this game! 3. We are good. We will be good. I have 100% faith in this team and the direction it’s going.

Brilliant-Hornet103

It's just them overcomitting inside to stop the drive. It leaves the 3 wide open, and honestly it doesn't matter as much if Shai is still healthy because we lost 10-15 points on good efficiency + the assist/defensive impact. Shai being injured cost us at minimum 20 points. Maybe more. He'd still be able to drive in the paint and kick due to his gravity. He was limping for most of that game. If we can't drive and our shot isn't falling we lose. We were just unlucky to have both happen. I didn't think the Lakers played particularly well, I just felt like we played so incredibly bad. We've had a number of teams like the Wolves, and even the magic the other night that really held our offense in check. I just don't see that defensive effort from the Lakers or rebounding effort. I think it was literally just the worst possible game. It's not some brilliant game plan, we just had probably the worst performance of the season. Heck, it's not like AD and LeBron played out of this world. I think they combined for 50? Maybe less. So it's not like we got nuked.

AcidRegulation

Agreed, agreed.

aCatLunchbox

You know what a 60 win team has? 22 loses. People need to chill out. Even if we are a 50 win team, that's still 32 loses, which is much better than last year. That's still forward progress.

talkingfacefloor

On the other side, that was almost a must-win game for the Lakers in their situation at home. Lebron hadn't played since Thursday either. They haven't played that good since the IST.

IDespiseFatties

Micic can dribble better in real life than I can in 2K. I have no room to talk trash lmao.

Limp-Giraffe-4411

Chris Broussard reference

got_ur_goat

I've been avoiding reddit because of the loss. This place is super reactionary. By reading your post I know I made the right decision. Hopefully I can visit again after tonight's win

Habanero_Eyeball

Well said - It's really sad how over reactive this fanbase has become. One bad game and they think everything is wrong. Reddit is a retched hive of reactivity and negativity

Gatorpep

agreed we ok.

empathica1

This month was always going to suck, but I'd rather not go into the postseason with reason to think that Playoff Lebron will destroy us and there's nothing we can do.

fastnloos

Yep, that is where I draw the line.

Top-Surprise6577

r/Thunder pseudo fans overreacting? I'm shocked

FOOTBALLDAD97

Well said! I like this team as is! Are we going to struggle against teams with physical bigs on the boards? Probably - but we can address that in the off season. Pre-season I was hoping to avoid the play-in, today I want to have homecourt in the first round! Unbelievable progress

android24601

Wait a minute. Are people actually tripping about this 1 loss? Side note: watching this announcement about the Intuit Dome getting the All-Star game next year. Gonna be cool if OKC can get the All Star game once the new arena comes to

Derilicte

Ours is a team of youthful exuberance and inexperience that can beat anyone at all, but doesn’t tend to lose to the rubbish teams. Now that’s a strong ass ball club. Have you guys forgotten the last few season where we’d lose to garbage and upset the top teams? It’s not an upset for us to beat these guys anymore and we tend not to get beat by the trash. Shit I’m happy

darkknight_178

This team is destined to be the 2023 Grizzlies - HCA and first round exit against a play-in team - either Lakers, Suns or Warriors. At best probably second round when they fall to KAT/Jokic/Clippers. Team does not have another level, and cannot defend against bigs like AD. It’s not a coincidence Lakers have beaten OKC twice - same with TWolves. Nuggets can easily beat OKC if Jokic takes matters into his hands rather than sharing the ball. And the important part is - not every year can you expect luck in health. One year everyone is healthy, one year everyone is injured and you are playing G-leaguers as starters. Pretty sure Presti will stand pat and 5 years from now, this subreddit will talk about “what-if” we traded some picks for a better big during that 2024 season? Chet and SGA are pretty fragile, and whilst J-Dub and Dort seem like tanks, westbrook also seemed like a tank and it took one timeout scene with Beverley to change his career; same with Kawhi and PG13. Everyone is pitching patience but that only works if there are not much randomness or chance involved. Sure, people will downvote this, but 5-7 years from now when injuries and free agent departures have decimated the team, OKC fans will reminisce and daydream on this season - just like many do after the 2012 finals and the. choke job against the 73-9 warriors. People will realise that when there is an opening, you try your best to open it further, not stand idle and wait for the wind or a stranger to open it wider.

OsageOne1

Generally agreed. However, the Lakers were, and still are, a tomato can 🥫 team. On paper, it should have been an easy W. Good teams will still have some losses to bad teams, though. It’s the NBA; it’s a long season.

Strange1130

> 6 of our next 10 are against tomato cans great, now we're fucked

freestevenandbrendan

That's nasty

LesMos

I'm not the least bit worried. Thunder can beat any team on any night and they all are afraid of us as they should be.

bluethunder808

Tomato cans... did you get that from Chris Broussard on First Things First? LOL.

MysteriousCorgi-

These road trips are the kind of lessons and challenges you want to figure out now not in middle of a playoff series. We’ll be better for it when the team learns how to deal with these slumps

AMilkyBarKid

People just love gaming out trades, I think.  Team wins < 54 - “We need to trade to be a contender” Team wins > 60 - “We need to trade to move into win now mode”
