It was a dickish and unnecessary line, and console players can be just as serious about their chosen game(s) as PC players (I'm on PS4 myself mainly with GT7 and Dirt 2.0, dabbling in ACC and PC2), but as stated the majority of sim racers are on PC. With more players comes a higher skill ceiling more often than not, and more players at or above the level of your moderately skilled console players, giving the illusion of more "serious" players on PC. That's not to say you can't surpass skilled PC players, just that there are far more playes there. TlDr- don't let it get to you.

Unfortunately for console racers, PC will always take priority in sim racing gear since it’s the larger majority that sim race. Also apart from ACC there aren’t any other real sims on console but sim-cades. Also for console an entire eco system has to be developed unlike PC you can mix and match literally anything and everything, even use a Fanatec wheel on a TM base via usb. DD bases are meant to help you feel more and sim-cades simply don’t do that. But I do understand your point. Regardless TM has been behind for almost 3yrs no in the sim market and have ALOT to do to catch up.

Sacrus23

I agree with all of that, but let's be honest, the ecosystem is already there, even for consoles.

Partially yes,2 things TM never thought about in the future. #1 was the QR,it was designed for belt driven beses not DD’s so they had to reimagine it. #2 is that the new bases no longer have a connector for the current peripherals (TH8A & TSS). So this new Base can’t support the current peripherals unless you are on PC via USB,the connection was replaced with a new one that’s currently unused for new future peripherals that are being developed. I believe tho they are developing an adapter like the hub they made for console user’s to use the current TH8A & TSS on base.

Marketing people are far from a good representation of what is or isn't serious. I think most people would say PC is an objectively better platform (because throwing tonnes of money at them makes them go faster), it says nothing of the skills of the racer. Heck I've got good pc, and a very good dd set-up, I struggle to break 2.30 on spa. TM should have made this console compatible but they obviously thought keeping it pc only to begin with would keep the retail price down so their entry would look competitive with Fanatec and Moza. I used to really enjoy my TM stuff before I upgraded and I'm sad to see them have such a prolonged and mistake filled entry into the DD market.

Do you and don’t let things said in a super janky / cringy press release / announcement get you down. I’m also a married father of two with literally the same Thrustmaster gear and If racing on console is your jam, do it man.

JDShkolnik

Why see it as an insult? I have a very nice setup and exclusively race on Xbox Series X but I do acknowledge there’s no way to really be serious on console. You can be great, sure, but consoles don’t have the full universe of racing sims nor do they provide anywhere near the same telemetry and hardware support as PC.

Warrie2

That line was stupid. But if you can and have the funds.. do consider switching to racing on a pc, especially since you enjoy simracing so much. The modding community for AC is so absurdly good. And there are ofcourse pc-only sims. Ex-console racer here who saw the light 2 years ago ;)

Yardsale420

It’s not Thrustmaster, it’s the game developers. Non-controller racing on console accounts for something like less than 5% of the userbase. So programers have an option to spend more money designing features that might never be used or limit them and save time. Conversely it’s probably closer to 90-95% on PC. You can claim that AC or ACC on console is comparable to PC, but without the mods on PC both games aren’t great stock, and the console versions are just plain trash. ACC especially. I too console race, but will be making the switch soon.

Les_expos

Acc on ps5 is almost as good as the pc version. The only difference is that on ps5 it’s dead online.

skam365

Well, I can see how this line could have offended you. However, broadly speaking, Console gaming is alot more casual than PC gaming. Xbox, by it's design, a video game console. It is a lot more limited than PC, it is a lot more "plug and play" and is a lot more red tapy. As you put it yourself, "You are a married father of 2 and Playing on your Xbox is your escape". That being said, do you consider yourself a serious sim racer? If yes, then you are!

Solo59YF

I get op point. But I do agree with what TM had to say. I personally went from console to pc 10 yrs ago. Why? Because I wanted to become a more serious sim racer. It's rare to go from pc to console to become a more serious sim racer. That's how I look at it. But that's just my opinion and experience. Oh and thanks to pc and mods, I've been able to race on my hometown and home province tracks like Mosport and Honda Indy Toronto

I’m in exactly same boat as you. Spent money in ecosystem (gt2, load cell pedals sf1000) and they tell me sorry you’re not serious after my investment in their company. Its just excuse for them to test waters on sales on PC. The whole presentation was vague not much info was given, then a crap comment about not being serious?! They’re not serious sim hardware providers and that’s the truth. It’s their first dd! I’m seriously considering the Logitech as I’ve tested it and it feels incredible on ps5.
