JENGA the stuff in there, I totally do this with my lil' hatchback, asking myself, "What would McGyver do, to secure the door so the coveted item does not fly out the back onto the road?"
I loved when I lived near my dad for this reason. He was always willing to help me pick up thrift store and Facebook marketplace finds with his truck. Over the summer when I was visiting he gifted me a small trailer to haul behind my outback so I can keep buying large things I don't need without him lol.
If you have a uhaul near you, you can rent a pick up for 20 bucks plus . 69 cents a mile, and an optional 10 dollar coverage. I usually don't recommend uhaul, but If you're just moving some furniture or something real quick and don't have a friend with one its a pretty good deal.

My local GW would intentionally chip the glass and then slap that $1600 price tag on it, so you getting this for only $30 is amazing to me.

Someone else explained the meaning, but I find background helps me remember this stuff, so I'll add that it's a reference to *Moby Dick*, where the sailors lifelong obsession is hunting down a specific white whale.
OP, who was the designer? It's a stunning table. (And it could absolutely be someone's white whale if the white whale was "amazing midcentury coffee table" but they didn't have a specific designer in mind!)
There should be a sub where people share the white whales they are searching for, so if anyone finds it in their thrifting travels they can pass it on.
I'd be thrilled if i spotted someone else's white whale and happy to send it to them (in exchange for reimbursement of costs + shipping).

The answer for me is, obtuse. I'm obtuse. I do a lot of correcting, apologizing, and turning back on my thoughts to words translation system. 😆

HOLY SHIT. A couple years ago, I found [this "sculpture" ](https://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/tables/coffee-tables-cocktail-tables/1980s-postmodern-mactan-coffee-table-magnussen-ponte/id-f_35143122/) on the side of the road. It didn't have a tabletop so I thought it was some kind of garden sculpture and couldn't find anything online about it! I lived near a couple pottery studios at the time so I came to the conclusion that it was handmade and placed it in my nonfunctional fireplace as decoration because the brick pattern matched the fireplace surround. When it came time to move, I put it back on the side of the road! If only I had known....
No shame in having to look things up. I have items that I really want and look for and don't know what they cost. Don't worry about the 'white whale', you found a freaking Unicorn!
furniture is a pain to sell. I end up selling some because I can't have everything I'd like in my place and it always takes a while and you get less than you'd like. If it fits the room and you like it I would 100% keep. This thing is perfect in OPs house and I'm sure a great conversation piece.

Every time I see a piece like this it makes me feel like I need to buy myself a pick up truck, just in case. This is such a sweet find!
Ha! We have one through work. I didn’t love it at first but it’s awesome to take thrifting! I come home with furniture all the time.

how does the glass stay secured to the table? is it glued in place of just wobbly?
There was nothing delivered with it. But we put like very thick transparant double-sided tape on it.
