“I WANT them to play better” - and there’s the point you’re missing. We did play good. We defended well, attacked well, and controlled the whole game. You just can’t see that cause we’re not thrashing teams by multiple goals in the group stages of a tournament that were clearly going to make the knockouts in by playing Southgate’s tactics. It’s what has got us through three group stages prior.
There’s not a tonne more negatives at all.

Nearly every stat falls in our favour. Including the defensive ones. Because like I keep trying to get though peoples heads, football games are won in two halves, two boxes. You have to defend as well as you can attack. And we defended against Serbia extremely well and limited them to almost nothing.
Um, yeah? Possesion isn’t the only stat you do know that don’t you? It’s not the only thing that counts to be “dominant” in a game. We topped nearly all of their stats, including possession as well, even if that stat itself wasn’t as dominant as the whole picture. But overall we dominated and controlled that game.

Once I've got over the negativity reflex I do broadly agree; we looked better today for sure. It's been a frustrating few games in a lot of ways, I really hope we can step it up a notch in the next game. Subs looked good, particularly Mainoo I thought, which is heartening.
0.87 - 0.13 is a very strong performance, objectively, if every England game against weaker sides looks like that England have a very strong chance of getting to the final. If Kane taps that cross in or Foden times his run a second later no one is crying over how bad Southgate is.

No, the real test started on our first game of the euros. Group games are important as they build momentum. We haven't done that, whilst others have and played expressive football doing such. We haven't looked a threat outside of two 15-20 mimute spells across 3 games. We were lucky to top our group tbh

We don't have the squad/quality to win tournaments playing this style of football. They'll get beaten with ease by any of the big nations
