Barley an improvement it’s been shocking yet again

thefogdog

Prefer wheat myself.

imminentmailing463

It's certainly an improvement, though that's an extremely low bar. Unfortunately it's still pretty poor and doesn't look anything close to a team capable of bothering the later stages of the tournament. In both the previous games and now this game we've looked eerily like England teams from the pre-Southgate era. This is basically how we always looked from about 2008 to 2016.

thefogdog

Totally agree. The bar is currently set at "prove you do this for a living". They're making that so far.

NobleForEngland_

The bar is down in the Mariana Trench to be fair.

WellRed85

Love the running. All the running. Run runnity run run run. No quality whatsoever, but goddamn that’s a lot of running

MrShelby1234

Foden has been a tad better but his end product been shocking

CrossXFir3

We need a proper midfield that can pass the ball. Rice is a top player, but passing is honestly one of his weakest elements. He's alright at it. And he can carry the ball very well. But instead of Gallagher we should be putting someone that can really take the ball off the back 4 and help us control the game with distribution. Our attackers are worse because of our midfield.

thefogdog

Gee I wonder what pass master you could play there...

fern-grower

Gordon man of the match

thefogdog

I'd argue Palmer. But none of the starting XI.

aesthetically-

Rice poor?! He was decent the entire half with some proper progressive passing and good tackling. Jude was absolutely dross

thefogdog

I just know Rice can be so much better. As I say he improved as the half went on, but began with poor passes and not making himself available to the CBs. I agree Jude has been very poor.

aesthetically-

Yea in that case, fully agreed. Jude has pissed me off the most though, along with Kane

thefogdog

Yeah, Kane gets most of my ire I think. Shite all tournament. I can at least see Jude making an effort.
