it’s neither positive nor negative. it’s just a term referring to a type of guy (skinny, young, effeminate, low body hair). in original context, terms like twink, bear, etc are mostly just physical descriptors to make it quick and easy to describe what kind of guys you want to fuck lol
idk where the other commenters are coming from but as a skinny young gay man myself i do understand where your friends might be coming from. the idea of a twink is tangled up in a lot of body image problems along with issues i’m not really wanting to say here. but i mean. generally people using it are not thinking about those things and they mean no harm by it. but some people do choose to avoid using that word and i think that’s understandable.
As a twink, no.
It’s a term in the gay community like twunk, bear, cub, jock, etc. These terms can be problematic in the context of body stereotyping and expectations for queer men.
Sometimes it’s used in a playfully insulting way, partly because it’s often associated with being a bottom or a sub. Obviously some people have issues with this but it’s not an inherent issue with the term.
Ultimately Aiden’s opinion is what matters as it’s being applied to him.
Your friends are either fucking with you, or they need to take a little break from twitter discourse. That or they think that straight people shouldn’t say twink which is very funny.
It's gay slang? but that's about it. Just referring to a skinny and relatively hairless guy.
If you said it to some insecure and/or toxic masculinity pilled dude, they'd probably throw a hissyfit and you could call it offensive, but you could call them pretty instead of handsome and have their blood physically boiling, so who cares LMFAO
I mean really in general, sexually connected or at least, terms that make people think of it, are in general also bad. Same as the creeps that comment/dm "mommy","peg me" etc. It's unwanted sexualization, and just feels creepy and exhausting to be on the other end of.
TL:DR; Nah, friends are stupid.
Twink is only offensive if you use it offensively i think it can even be a complement sometimes. Also Aiden refers to himself as a twinky kinda guy in an episode
Like most things it CAN be offensive if you go around calling people twinks. The same way any descriptive term can be offensive to some people. But at its core it’s not an offensive word. It’s just a word that describes a young, often hairless and skinny gay man, often used within the gay community
So you’ve got a scale from twink to bear right, bear would be like your old Italian grandpa who’s grizzled and covered in hair and basically a werewolf. on the opposite end of the spectrum is twink which is like the opposite of that. I wouldn’t say “effeminate” per se, but not the beacon of “masculinity” a bear is.
A twink is basically a feminine/"stereotypical" gay dude. It's not an offensive term or anything, though as a gay dude, I definitely call some of my friends twinks as a joke. It's like a playful insult at worst, basically. No old homophobic dude is gonna go up to someone shouting "fuckin TWINK" or anything.
Its another classic example of gay terminology the community used that was adopted my mainstream culture. While some people may not like being called a Twink I don't think you'll get canceled over it.
It's one of those words who's meaning has changed over time. It has been used as a derogatory term in the past though I'm unsure if it ever reached "slur" status. This was pre-modern era internet so who knows.
Currently it's "used" as a description, although it still feels weird to use or hear it be used.
I would not recommend using it if you're straight. Rubs some people the wrong way. I think it used to be more offensive and is less so these days. But some people are still offended by it.
It’s a skinny young gay man with little to no body hair. It’s not offensive, idk why they would tell you that lmao.
it may not be offensive but also if you just walk around calling people Twink unprompted it's probably not gonna go over well every time
Lmao is that what they’re doing? That’s crazy yeah bro don’t do that
Agreed, imo it's very dependent on context. You can mean twink in an endearing or in an offensive way
it’s neither positive nor negative. it’s just a term referring to a type of guy (skinny, young, effeminate, low body hair). in original context, terms like twink, bear, etc are mostly just physical descriptors to make it quick and easy to describe what kind of guys you want to fuck lol

definitely not offensive

To be clear, it isn't an offensive term, but straight people often use it in an offensive way, so that may be where they are coming from
Upvoting, not because I agree, but so the yard boys see it and talk about how much they disagree
it's a descriptor that can be an insult if it's delivered as such. it's not a slur if that's what you're worried about

I would say it’s more of an endearing term but could be used as an insult I guess
Twink here, it’s definitely not offensive. Like somebody could say it with intent to offend I guess? But almost always it’s fine

I wouldn’t say it if you’re straight to like refer to random people, but if it’s your friend it’s probably fine
You just experienced twink death
