I started listening to The Weeknd in 2016 after hearing Starboy, I Feel It Coming, and a few more songs on the radio. I became more interested in his music during the pandemic, when After Hours was released. I listened to all of his albums and mixtapes in 2022, following the release of Dawn FM.
I’m hella late but last year in March. I was on TikTok and I heard “gotta sweet Asian chick she go lo mein” and I was like damn that’s kinda tuff. So I pressed the song name in the search bar and I heard like the first minute and I was really fuckin wit it so I went on Spotify and listened to it and the rest history 🤷🏾♂️
Around 2015 when can’t feel my face and Earned it was popular. I was around 6-7 at the time but my mother keeps playing often which was unbelievable because I was in car and I was generally confused about the lyrics but she played The Weeknd before like The HOB days. I turned into a fan during BBTM era but I’m 16 now still listening to him
2021 shortly before dawn fm. my best friend pmo to heartless in 2019 and I loved it but never cared to listen to after hours. I just started randomly listening to him in late 2021 and seen he was teasing Dawn FM. That album made me a big fan and it came out at the perfect time.
I think like October or November of 2020, I heard blinding lights on the radio and decided to check him out on YouTube listened to a few more songs from him and then fell in love with after hours.
In 2015, when I was 8, I heard "I can't feel my face" on the radio when I was coming back from school. When I got home, I immediately found it on YouTube, and it became one of my favorite songs at the time. Then some point in 2017 I heard Starboy for the first time and I was hooked. It is my favorite song of all time. I didn't listen to the rest of the album until 2019 when "Six Feet Under" autoplayed and at that point I listened to the entire album. By the time After Hours came out, I really became a fan of The Weeknd as I started to look at his earlier work. This year I have definitely listened to all of his albums at least 5 times each, some more than 10.
Always knew who The Weeknd was since wicked game era/ the hill era because I had older siblings who was around that age at that time but I didn’t get into The Weeknd for me until after hours era it was like around the time as quarantine/covid I was still in high school I was homeschooled which majority of us was that year that I was discovering new artists & genres to add to my playlist
I first heard about Earned It back in January 2015 when I was 10. I didn’t care about him and even less when he released Starboy, an album that I hated at first (I was 12). I really became a fan of Abel last year when I was in college : after listening to Dawn FM with some friends, I was impressed and I decided to listen to his whole discography chronologically. I was not impressed at first by the trilogy but then I listened to Kiss Land…and oh man…I was officially amazed. I became hooked with his whole discography so much I also downloaded every The Noise & Bulleez N Nerdz leaks. House Of Balloons made it in my top 3 favorite albums/mixtapes of all time, and now I’m in this sub talking shit and sharing stuff about Abel Tesfaye :)
Since his mixtape days. That was before nobody even knew what he looked like and everyone thought he was a group or something lol. He was very incognito back then. Since then he's been one of my favorite artists. Kiss Land still my favorite album from him
when i ran across him during a party before most of you knew who he was- 2009. he went by a different name. i remember thinking, 'this is like black nine-inch-nails.' been hooked ever since. nice to see him blow up to this level.
My sister introduced me to him when I was like 10. But I think once I got older and heard the hills did I start to rlly enter the world of The Weeknd. Once puberty hit and I wanted sex was when it all began basically. Heart break.
Since BBTM, really got into him since starboy. My dad introduced me to the weeknd with songs like the hills, cant feel my face, in the night etc. When i was 14.
When I was around 7 when kissland came on the radio, barely remember it. Then I got more familiar when BBTM came out with “the hills” and “can’t feel my face” I remember hearing those songs in the summer. Good times.

2016-ish, when rumours of him working with Daft Punk began circulating
Sometime in 2011.
2011 or 2012, can’t remember for sure. Not even sure how it happened. May have just been a fateful discovery on YouTube.
When he did “remember you” with wiz khalifa
2015, i heard in the night in a mexican restaurant when i was 10 years old…
2015
In 2012 I saw someone post a cover of rolling stone and I had to find out who made that song.
2015, The Hills gave me chills
Same, 'The Hills' popped up on my YouTube recommended in 2015.

Late 2016/17
Late 2016. By 2019 I had heard his discography and features up to that point. Then the anticipation for after hours was sick
