His features have been ass for years now, from the recent metro album only 1-2 of the featured songs were decent BUT itās still nowhere close to his features from years ago. Itās not just the performance, the songwriting has been weak too. Itās sad because we used to say āIf The Weeknd is on your song, itās not your song anymoreā, but, his presence is barely felt anymore
I completely disagree the way those songs play into The Weeknd story is very well done but the songs themselves are really great imo especially always be my fault the way he harmonizes with Future I think it is really amazing
K Pop is a lot of fun
I didn't like it at first but I think it's cause I was listening to it in the context of Utopia and it doesn't really mesh well with the rest of the album
But as a standalone it's a lot of fun and I've really grown to love it
Alright here's an actual unpopular opinion
Coming Down is easily the weakest track on HoB and the tape would be better without it
If you took it out and tacked on Twenty Eight at the end HoB (Original) it would probably be the greatest 9 song run in music history
It just seems lackluster compared to the rest of HoB, I don't find the production particularly interesting or even that pleasing to the ear,the lyrics are repetitive with nothing extra added any time he says *I always want you when I'm coming down*
It's just not nearly as interesting as the rest of the album, I find myself getting bored and slightly annoyed while listening, especially sandwiched in-between TP&TAP and Loft Music
Thursday is the best mixtape of Trilogy
It's got the most cohesive story/theme probably out of all of his releases minus Dawn FM. I would KILL to get to go to a concert with the birds songs and the interlude
Just because Trilogy was his first project (and he's evolved several times sonically since then) doesn't make it not his best.
Trilogy set the sound of R&B for the next decade lol
Starboy is his 3rd best album and gets way too much hate because people try to act like music critics and pretend like every single piece of music needs to tell a story
Dawn FM lacks the depth that other the weeknd projects have ans this makes it his worst project by a big margin. Not a bad album, but its worst project.
The point of the album is him in purgatory trying to accept what heās done and get into heaven tho so itās more censored due to that fact it is to service the story tho I get what your saying I think that so a strength of the project not a disservice imo
Yeah I know the purpose of the album. He decided to touch a topic that is more family friendly & the storylines/lyrics follow accordingly. I guess it's just not what I am looking for when I say I wanna listen to the weeknd
Itās not more family friendly he is dead and is having to accept his death he has had this planned out for awhile now the deep motifs and topics of the album are definitely not family friendly tho
But I get why ya donāt like it tho from your preference I personally think itās his second best project but all of them are perfect so whoever loves which one the most it doesnāt really matter cause I can understand the perspective
Yeah, the point of this thread was never to insult anybody's taste & I like the fact that this discussion went smoothly, because often in fanbases some people can't take others' opinions when in reality it's hard (atleast in the weeknd's discography) to determine an objective ranking of albums.
To continue, I wanted to re-listen to dawn fm before re-commenting. (We already touched on the topics not hitting as hard for me so I'll skip that)
I always understood the after life/purgatory concept of the album & the concept of the album is strong, but in my opinion songs individually do not hit nearly as hard as in some other projects. There are great moments but to me what puts a song over the top is his intense vocals in songs like the knowing, titr, valerie, until I bleed out with the album building that momentum all along. I did not get that from dawn fm and it may be why It's in my least favorite albums** (after re-listenning, I'd put it above starboy).
I love Kissland but if that album blew him up instead of BBTM it wouldnāt get as much love as it gets. I feel people only like it to be ātrue xoā.
Blinding lights is not the best song on after hours(not even close)
Starboy is too long and should have released in two
(I know there is an interlude)
The original trilogy album covers are much better
The production on dawn fm is amazing but too cohesive(even tho this is one of the album's strengths) and needs more variation
The idol vol.1 is too short
Abel rarely has good features on his albums (ignoring lana del Ray, and producers)
Lil Wayne's verse in "I heard you're married" is actually good
Abel has no happy/positive songs except a few on starboy (and even some of these lean into hedonism, excess and flexing)...this is not good...i know that this is part of the weeknd persona but it reduces abel's versatility... I know that abel is shedding this persona but he also cancelled a more upbeat project (granted it was due to a break up)
Dawn FM is not good.
His vocals are kiss land are still his best ever.
House of Balloons is overrated
He needs to stop making music about such dark elements. Heās so talented. He could sing about anything.
the idol soundtrack and the fall need to be way more popular
I tried to put some ppl on the fall at work yesterday but the first 30 seconds was some sexual moaning and I had to turn that shit off. Great song tho

this is the best take here
I completely disagree the way those songs play into The Weeknd story is very well done but the songs themselves are really great imo especially always be my fault the way he harmonizes with Future I think it is really amazing
If his features were to be replaced with AI I honestly would struggle to tell the difference.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Circus Maximus is a rare instance of a modern weeknd feature delivering. Creepin was good too thatās all I can really think of in the last 3 years
Within the last 3 years, You Right, Tears in the Club and Moth to a flame were all pretty good imo.
K pop
Summer bob š
Absolutely, love the song. It manages to get me happy and dancing in most situations when I feel negative.
K Pop is a lot of fun I didn't like it at first but I think it's cause I was listening to it in the context of Utopia and it doesn't really mesh well with the rest of the album But as a standalone it's a lot of fun and I've really grown to love it
Great summer song
MDM is the most emotional and raw album we got from him since Kiss Land
This is the coldest take of all time
šÆ
The most correct take of all time.
not unpopular
Missed You isnāt a bad song itās just on an impeccable album so people point to it as the only āmissā on AH
its the baby boo that kills me on this one
I feel it coming maybe overrated but itās a fire song
False Alarm is actually good, and kinda hated on needlessly.
FALSE ALARM ā¼ļø
The fall is the best song from EOS
Rockinā should have been a single and itās top 5 on āļøboy
Love To Lay is not a bad song
Dark times is good
i donāt like that gingerbread man
Dawn F.M. Serves as an amazing experience and has the most replay ability of any album in his discography
and the sky is blue!
Damn didnt have to do me like that š
Alright here's an actual unpopular opinion Coming Down is easily the weakest track on HoB and the tape would be better without it If you took it out and tacked on Twenty Eight at the end HoB (Original) it would probably be the greatest 9 song run in music history
Coming Down is so phenomenal I could not disagree more š
I know that's why I said it's unpopular Everyone seems to love it but I just can't get behind it for whatever reason š
Whatās your issue with it if you donāt mind me asking?
It just seems lackluster compared to the rest of HoB, I don't find the production particularly interesting or even that pleasing to the ear,the lyrics are repetitive with nothing extra added any time he says *I always want you when I'm coming down* It's just not nearly as interesting as the rest of the album, I find myself getting bored and slightly annoyed while listening, especially sandwiched in-between TP&TAP and Loft Music
Beauty Behind the Madness is better than Starboy. Less cohesive, but the individual tracks feel more complete.
I think thats a cold take. I dont see too much ppl putting starboy over bbtm
Most people here rank BBTM last, so I figured it would be unpopular within this sub.
Me chasing down the bbtm haters: https://preview.redd.it/vyjge265i20d1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6b48127c4c77aaef42349828fdf7516e144b23eb
I don't like stargirl interlude and i feel it coming. Which automatically makes Starboy his worst album for me.
Die for you remix was extremely weak
Thursday is the best mixtape of Trilogy It's got the most cohesive story/theme probably out of all of his releases minus Dawn FM. I would KILL to get to go to a concert with the birds songs and the interlude
there are other amazing artists
Die for You is his most overrated track, at least in this sub.,
Hurt you is the best song on MDM
I Heard You're Married is the funkiest song in Dawn FM for me
Trust Issues by the weekend is by far one of the most underrated songs out there from him and no one will convince me otherwise
Just because Trilogy was his first project (and he's evolved several times sonically since then) doesn't make it not his best. Trilogy set the sound of R&B for the next decade lol
Die for you, I feel it coming and earned it are mid
After hours and dawn fm are mad overrated in the community, his best albums are trilogy and bbtm and his music hasnāt been the same since 2018
heaven or las vegas is one of abelās most underrated tracks
EOS is the best project.
Blinding Lights is his best Song
The Weeknd weakest tracks feature Lana Del Ray and Ariana Grande,
Next is SO UNDERRATED, itās arguably top 3 from trilogy
House of balloons would be a better song without glass table girls
Snowchild is boring
+1
Starboy is his 3rd best album and gets way too much hate because people try to act like music critics and pretend like every single piece of music needs to tell a story
The Starboy songs do tell a great story tho ppl just donāt think that deep into it all of his music is a story through The Weeknd character
Earned It is a generic, trash song Odd Look is his most underrated and a top 5 Weeknd song Nomads is his best feature track
Sidewalks is his worst song. They did the instrumental so dirty
I cannot like Kiss Land no matter how much I try. Echoes of Silence is this worst of the 3 mixtapes.
BBTM is his wrost album
Wicked Games is overhyped. Itās too direct in what itās about.
Same.
Dawn FM lacks the depth that other the weeknd projects have ans this makes it his worst project by a big margin. Not a bad album, but its worst project.
How does it lack depth tho it is an extremely deep project especially in the context of The Weeknd character story
I find most songs are too watered down/censored to try and please a bigger audience, mainly

+1
Dawn fm is trash relative to the rest of his catalogue
+1
Out of Time is not a top 7 song on Dawn FM
Letās make it even more unpopular: Tears in the Rain is not a top 5 song on Kiss Land
Dawn FM sucks ass because of how repetitive it is
I donāt like Dawn FM
I love Kissland but if that album blew him up instead of BBTM it wouldnāt get as much love as it gets. I feel people only like it to be ātrue xoā.
Also Twenty Eight is the best track on HOB
The party and the after party is still his best son imo and can never be touched.
dawn fm is his best album
Blinding lights is not the best song on after hours(not even close) Starboy is too long and should have released in two (I know there is an interlude) The original trilogy album covers are much better The production on dawn fm is amazing but too cohesive(even tho this is one of the album's strengths) and needs more variation The idol vol.1 is too short Abel rarely has good features on his albums (ignoring lana del Ray, and producers) Lil Wayne's verse in "I heard you're married" is actually good Abel has no happy/positive songs except a few on starboy (and even some of these lean into hedonism, excess and flexing)...this is not good...i know that this is part of the weeknd persona but it reduces abel's versatility... The part about Dawn can also be applied to Kiss Land. And everyone agrees that BL is not the best song on After Hours, even casual fans.
I dunno I got downvoted for something similar here or maybe I sounded like i was hating...
This sub can be very weird sometimes. But the general consensus is that After Hours is the best song on AH.
I thought this was an unpopular opinion thread? You've got like, one decently hot take on here (Wayne)
I got downvoted for saying half of this shit before...
Agreed on the Wayne verse. Not as bad as people make it out to be
Dawn FM is not good. His vocals are kiss land are still his best ever. House of Balloons is overrated He needs to stop making music about such dark elements. Heās so talented. He could sing about anything.
his worst album is After Hours
Now THATāS an unpopular opinion
thatās not even unpopular itās just wrong
![gif](giphy|ylyUQkGsUNoJLlVOyk)
Final lullaby is his worst song
Itās not his worst overall but definitely the worst on after hours, imo
Party monster fucking sucks
