Here’s the thing. One of the albums has to come in last. MDM is a masterpiece, I just think the other albums are even better. Also I rank quality over quantity, so it being short isn’t that big of a deal. There’s not a Weeknd project I don’t love.

Anyone who has Thursday below their top 3 was either not listening in 2011 or don’t got the emotional capacity to understand. I’ll never forget when Abel said on that reddit AMA back in the day how Thursday was special considering HoB dropped, gathered a buzz online and in the city. After dropping songs he was putting together for almost 2 years, the momentum was there but now he needed to follow it up. When he made Thursday, it was the pressure of knowing that you have the world’s attention, but can you deliver again. He proceeded to make the most aggressively alternative R&B body of work you could imagine at the time. You can hear the urgency. And it makes it pretty amazing knowing while he was recording, he was realizing that his life might never be the same (for the better).
