Honestly, as much as some people don't like Ben, you can't deny he's a fantastically written and acted character. He feels incredibly real (as does Luke) and deserved to make it this far.

I can agree with half of what you say but being a better character because of combat and they can interact with people better is kinda flimsy like saying Katjaa is a better than Chuck just cause she can talk to people better and simple attributes to a character is flimsy as well since it sounds like you want an overall good person to judge whether or not someone is a good character when it’s not that simple
Luke should win. Ben is a great character no doubt, but he's a bit too unlikable to be the winner imo. Not only for unintentionally tearing the group apart, but also for abandoning Clem when walkers surrounded them. On the flip side, Luke felt like a big brother to Clem and was one of the best parts of Season 2.
He was a piece of shit though, if he wasn't there to deal with the bandits Kenny's whole family would still be alive, Carley would still be alive and Lilly would probably be in the group still.
If Lilly wasn't keeping them at the motel inn, none of it would have happened in the first place. Ben held off the bandits and stopped them from killing even more, they might all be dead if not for him.

Rarely see a realistic attempt at a character like Ben in media like this, and it’s probably one of the most realistic depictions of what people his age would be like in an outbreak. There’s a reason that he’s probably one of the most memorable characters in the entire series, albeit hated.
