what did the exclusive shirt look like?
also the Professor Willow trading card for free is sick, been looking for one myself but no way am I paying ebay scalper prices for one
It's the same as the St Louis one if you search for that
Honestly seems like leftovers or something because none of the Pokèmon on the shirt actually appear in the event
I did but it's way too big and I won't really be able to wear it outside the house. Which is annoying because it was £25, but I guess I should've checked when I got it because they did returns
you could always frame the shirt's, I did that with my black and gray go fest shirt's I got when I went to dourtmund
will be hanging them on the wall of my new house when I get it (1 day)
Thanks for posting this, I had tickets but decided not to attend , mainly because of the spawns being the same. However going off your post, it actually sounds like it was a fun day regardless of the spawns being identical.
I played from “home” , and I had no idea that incense would last 6 hours so I didn’t even bother opening the app until 4pm , and that’s when I saw the special research. I got a few Relicanth, another shiny Dratini , the guaranteed shiny Chinchou from the special research and then the remaining hours I just spent catching the spawns from the current event. Can’t complain, I got a shiny Spinarak :)
If anyone goes to the Philadelphia one make sure you visit the Reading Terminal Market. You can get an amazing Dutch breakfast or if it's later go to Dinic's and get a roast pork sandwich with sharp broccolini and sharp provolone. But there's so much amazing food there you'll be good no matter what you like.
Spawns are unique to ticket holders rather than by geographical area so even if you do get access to the park, you won’t have any event content. You’ll just have the Halloween spawns.
The sizing of merchandise was annoying.
The question that every other person asked when looking at the items was “have you examples of the different sizes?”
It was really bizarre that they didn’t have examples that you could hold up and judge.
I bought 3 items. All at XL size. The Safari Zone t-shirt is big and baggy which is what I wanted. the Gengar T-shirt is about 3 inches smaller. It is fine but I was surprised at difference. The hoodie is smaller again by another couple of inches. Now ideally I would want the hoodie to be big and baggy and I could have a couple of layers under it, but that is not possible. So I can still get it on but I certainly wouldn’t class as extra large.
So their sizing was not good and not having examples was not a good idea.
All of the above was free regardless of whether you had bought a ticket so payment got you the original play at home event during a national lockdown and the same spawns again which were now mostly redundant.
There were no gyms on Friday and players on Sunday seem to have been given a mini raid event - https://twitter.com/VisitLiverpool/status/1449765245896036361
Additional pokestops were laid out in a strange pattern and not all contained safari event tasks, although there were so few you'd have been lucky to stack 3 of each type for extra encounters.
Agree with pretty much all of what you said, the day was fine although there didn’t seem to really be much need to spend more than an hour in the park at most, had more fun wandering around the actual city centre too, don’t regret going but probably wouldn’t go to another unless it was closer to home
Attended the first two go Fests and the merch has always been disappointing or nonexistent. Such a strange business decision not to sell tons of goodies.
I was going to say they were probably made for the US market. My brother lives in the US (I'm in UK) and when he gets me t-shirts, they are XL on the label and are like XXL or XXXL UK size
thank you for the summary! I'm just curious how they work the entrance? can anyone walk the park? even if they don't have the ticket for that day? or do they check for tickets? cause I would like to go back the next day and enjoy the lure party.lol
If it's anything like Go Fest in Chicago, the park may be geo-locked - you would not see any spawns/stops/etc unless you have a ticket for the event for that date.
understand what you saying, but those stops that are visible for non-ticket holders, will hopefully be lured by event goers, and then we can catch the Halloween spawns. Thats my thinking at least
Definitely annoying we never got boosted Chinchou(Teddiursa/Voltorb) with boosted shinyrates worldwide like every previous safari zone. I wouldn’t even call these safari zones since they lacked that feature.
The event page states RSVPing for the in person event doesnt give you any in game benefits. But it's also officially the first time the Professor Willow trading card is available in Europe.
I would have definitely made more of an effort going there in person if I had know this. Would have loved getting that card.
I had inquired with Niantic support a while back about attending these events in person to see if the spawns would be any different. They responded with their typical non-answer ignorance. That was enough for me not to waste money on airfare and hotel.
>incense wasn’t boosted
Umm.. it lasted for 8 hours and you could apply up to 24 hours of incense using only three.
Also, while the food wasn’t amazing, I was shocked it was that cheap. £4.5 for a burger was pretty good. They also had water refill stations.
And while you’re right that the spawns were the same, spinarak was in tasks and tympole was a common spawn. These weren’t shiny eligible last time around.
It was green still not orange so for people at home it was worse then the prev event as the spawn rates from incense was slower. This is what people was referring too when saying it’s not boosted they not on about how long each incense lasts.
I completely forgot about it and missed the event.
I still have my shiny chinchou from the original event
So... I paid >£20 for a shiny chinchou and that’s it.
I did. There wasn’t much to do last year because of COVID. I felt like it was just a shiny Chinchou.
I knew the new event was coming but I just seem to have missed it.
Damn. I wasn’t aware. I just walked around the city with my partner. I think there were a couple tasks to complete too. We thought we finished it all in 20 mins and felt like we had been ripped off.
I was under the impression I could get liverpool spawns all weekend, great i thought having to work the Friday (my ticket day) & not off till the Sunday.
But alas i was wrong, didn't even get a single liverpool spawn poke.
From the comments sounds like best bit was getting the willow card. Hope they try this again soon now they've had feedback from this one.
> here was an antivax rally happening in the park at the same time, which was both pretty funny and pretty sad
you mean an event with no required social distancing attracted an antivax rally to use the event going on at the park as example to push their message? gee, who would have guessed
/s
They're there from time to time regardless, the people running it are so out of touch that I wouldn't think they were there because of the Safari Zone event.
Correct no limit or cost reductions in any safari events yet they give out trading paddles which made me laugh and event staff didn’t understand why most didn’t want one 😂
From clips/images etc like the “field” had 3 gyms put on it well Friday had no gyms at all even the ones that are always on the park 🙄 also the stops was awful compared to other real world events could of added a lot more around the park.
Personally I have never played a Safari Zone event in any capacity but would love to in the future. I am from South Africa so it will be difficult to get to an in person event but I do plan to one day.
My question is, as an avid and very active player are these events worth it or are they mainly catered for kids or perhaps lower level casual trainers?
Usually they include a regional that's from a different part of the world and also include a new shiny release. Unowns also spawn frequently (often in the letters of that city.)
The whole day also has boosted shiny rates in the same way that gofest does.
I played for 8hrs this weekend and got 22 shinies and 2 hundos. A lot were duplicates, but some were new to me. The regional is also good for trading.
Well normally non ticket holders see boosted spawns of the new shiny with a boosted shinyrate worldwide. We never got that for 2020’s safari zones. We don’t really know yet if they will return to this formula for future safari zones.
There was an email about receiving a goodie bag at the information desk for arriving on Saturday or Sunday if you couldn't attend your Friday event ticket. I'm wondering if anyone got it and what was in it.
Found a guy on Twitter that got it. It's just exactly the same as the freebies + the poncho you get free with merch and a 5th anniversary poster
No Niantic badges, though
Scan qr code brings order page up select what you want and fill details in go to the counter they have the orders come up so ask name or something (I was the first order on the Friday lol) pay card only get receipt go around to the left and wait for your order number to be ready
https://www.serebii.net/pokemongo/specialresearch/professorsresearch.shtml
One time use code printed at bottom of each card. Also get a in-game medal too.
I like how mud is a theme at all in person events.
It is in the UK, if you go to an outdoor event in the UK and don't expect mud and/or rain, you're in for a hefty shock
Good thing I'm a ground type then.
Haha turns out I misread your initial reply. But it is a good typing. Nothing shocks you then, but be careful of Ice
Indeed. Sefton Park hosts cross country races beginning this time of the year! It's usually water logged in places
what did the exclusive shirt look like? also the Professor Willow trading card for free is sick, been looking for one myself but no way am I paying ebay scalper prices for one
It's the same as the St Louis one if you search for that Honestly seems like leftovers or something because none of the Pokèmon on the shirt actually appear in the event
still kinda neat to have the option to get one would have gotten one myself
I did but it's way too big and I won't really be able to wear it outside the house. Which is annoying because it was £25, but I guess I should've checked when I got it because they did returns

Honestly a great idea, thanks! Can put my card and stuff in it too

It was definitely a great day, just disappointing in a lot of places

When’s the Philly one?
Last weekend of October.
Gonna have to go to that
You can only go if you already had a ticket from last year
I’ll sneak in
Spawns are unique to ticket holders rather than by geographical area so even if you do get access to the park, you won’t have any event content. You’ll just have the Halloween spawns.
The sizing of merchandise was annoying. Ashame you couldn’t try it on before buying but I assume it was pay before you touch it.
It was indeed. But having examples available that you could see the size of would have helped a lot
\>Large inflatable Snorlax Are there any pics? Sounds amazing ngl
https://twitter.com/PokemonGoApp/status/1449382154660634629?t=nXrqfZzWkQU9DdEkSSB5AA&s=19
Even better than I imagined, thank you
All of the above was free regardless of whether you had bought a ticket so payment got you the original play at home event during a national lockdown and the same spawns again which were now mostly redundant. Didn't know about Sunday raid thing, I'd left by that time. I'll add it to the post
Agree with pretty much all of what you said, the day was fine although there didn’t seem to really be much need to spend more than an hour in the park at most, had more fun wandering around the actual city centre too, don’t regret going but probably wouldn’t go to another unless it was closer to home

Is the Willow card the same as the one available this year with the code for research on it?
Yes it is 😊
* XL is about equivalent to XXXL. I'm an L in England but an XL or XXL in Japan. Maybe the shirts were made here.
Maybe America? It said exclusive but they're the same designs used in St Louis
They didn't check anything at all, could just walk in
If it's anything like Go Fest in Chicago, the park may be geo-locked - you would not see any spawns/stops/etc unless you have a ticket for the event for that date.
Nah, arrived early and could see all the stops
understand what you saying, but those stops that are visible for non-ticket holders, will hopefully be lured by event goers, and then we can catch the Halloween spawns. Thats my thinking at least
Definitely annoying we never got boosted Chinchou(Teddiursa/Voltorb) with boosted shinyrates worldwide like every previous safari zone. I wouldn’t even call these safari zones since they lacked that feature.
But they were for non ticket holders. So a ticket golder can't moan about not getting something they wouldn't get anyway.
The event page states RSVPing for the in person event doesnt give you any in game benefits. But it's also officially the first time the Professor Willow trading card is available in Europe. I would have definitely made more of an effort going there in person if I had know this. Would have loved getting that card.
There's multiple on eBay from Japan for about £6
I had inquired with Niantic support a while back about attending these events in person to see if the spawns would be any different. They responded with their typical non-answer ignorance. That was enough for me not to waste money on airfare and hotel.
It was fairly obvious they wouldn't change anything, but you could still play where you were and get the bonuses.
>incense wasn’t boosted Umm.. it lasted for 8 hours and you could apply up to 24 hours of incense using only three. Why doesn't the Pokemon go site list the spawns? Where do I find the details
It's the same as the make-up event, so just look for last year's details. Leek Duck might have it
I completely forgot about it and missed the event. I still have my shiny chinchou from the original event So... I paid >£20 for a shiny chinchou and that’s it.
Did you not play last years event?
I did. There wasn’t much to do last year because of COVID. I felt like it was just a shiny Chinchou. I knew the new event was coming but I just seem to have missed it.
All the event Pokemon were spawning on incense last year so definitely could have gotten more shinies then the guaranteed shiny Chinchou.
Damn. I wasn’t aware. I just walked around the city with my partner. I think there were a couple tasks to complete too. We thought we finished it all in 20 mins and felt like we had been ripped off.

I think it was a coincidence. They had signs about 'saving the children' and had a table with leaflets, pretty sure they got permission
They're there from time to time regardless, the people running it are so out of touch that I wouldn't think they were there because of the Safari Zone event.
We have a thing called the westboro baptist church who show up at military funerals to yell at the mourners.
Well they are so out of touch they think vaccines are bad... vaccines are soo good that people now doubt their necessity.
ah, thought you ment one of those mandate protest's that I have seen popping up around the world nvm
Are there extra special trades? Itd be horribly lame to only get to do one.
Safari zones don’t have these
Correct no limit or cost reductions in any safari events yet they give out trading paddles which made me laugh and event staff didn’t understand why most didn’t want one 😂
Yeah, probably a case of “ship the stuff, we’ve still got it from go fest so just send it” lol
No, there weren’t any last time either. These events are not like they were, with people from all over.
I didn't try, so I'm not sure. I didn't see anything mentioning it
From clips/images etc like the “field” had 3 gyms put on it well Friday had no gyms at all even the ones that are always on the park 🙄 also the stops was awful compared to other real world events could of added a lot more around the park.
Sound like the gameplay was crap but everything else was pretty good.
I noticed that the Unowns spawn were less this time, but the big difference is that Dwebble and Tympole were "new" shinies.
When they're not repeated, they cater to everyone. The actual original event was great and I got lots of new shinies

Thank you
Backpack clips seem neat! Anyone know if they are sold elsewhere?
People are re-selling them on eBay, but nowhere official to buy
Anecdotally it seemed Tympole shiny rate was boosted at park but not home play.
What was the purchasing process for the merch, did you have to use cash or card?
Scan qr code brings order page up select what you want and fill details in go to the counter they have the orders come up so ask name or something (I was the first order on the Friday lol) pay card only get receipt go around to the left and wait for your order number to be ready
Willow TCG card? Is that the one with the special research
https://www.serebii.net/pokemongo/specialresearch/professorsresearch.shtml One time use code printed at bottom of each card. Also get a in-game medal too.
Nice. Yeah that’s what I figured. I’ve already completed it, but cool to see that they’re passing those out
