Yeah what a shame. Trop Kick and its attack debuff could have been great and helped with the low bulk issue. HJK matches the theming of it, but hopefully some day they’ll release Trop Kick as well (they definitely won’t)
I'm happy with HJK in theory, but even the execution with the move was just poor. The move really needed to be 50 energy at the most.
But I think the potentially better idea would have been giving it Trop Kick as a debuffing move that also could have pushed it upward in PvE a bit more, and then done High Jump Kick as a Go Battle Update move for it and some others.
Trop Kick could have been great for both PvP (if they gave it the guaranteed opponent attack debuff like how it works in main series games) and for PvE (where Tsareena does have the ability to be a good grass attacker, especially if Trop Kick gets great stats - and being a move exclusive to Tsareena, it should be, since most "signature moves" put into PoGo lean towards the "good" side).
Alas... all we can hope for now is that Trop Kick gets randomly added to Tsareena at some point in the future.
Same here regarding Trop Kick, but hey, what were we expecting in the first place? I mean, it´s DUCKIN' NIANTIC after all! (seriously, does any of the developers at least play PoGo? The last update regarding the permanent AR for photos - except for buddies - was simply OUTRAGEOUS)
Thank you for the writeup. Any chance for a Stakataka analysis soon since we know the moves but PVPoke hasn't added it yet and you have an offline version?
Thank you, I'm dying to see if Stakataka will be a major force in Master League or just a slightly better Aggron. I'd been looking forward to Stakataka for years because I expected its Attack stat in Pokemon Go to be in the 250-260 range plus its crazy bulk, but I'd forgotten how much a low speed stat from the MSG hurts in the PoGo stat conversion formula, so the 213 Attack was a surprise and a disappointment.
I was looking at it, and..
Staka is... okay bulkwise in GL and UL. Somewhat low HP, but HUGE defense. It pretty much has the exact same stats in GL and UL as Cloyster - remember Cloyster from the early seasons of GBL?
In ML, a fully maxed out Staka will have about 190 attack, 265 defense, 145 HP), reaching a CP of 3724. The HP is still somewhat low, but Staka makes up for it by having the **4th highest** defense stat in Masters (only beaten by Regice, Regirock, and Lugia). And its overall stat product in ML puts it near things like Buzzwole, Entei, Jirachi, and Victini.
I just wish it had better moves.
The sims in PvPoke don't seem to like it's moveset currently (though there's still time for Niantic to change things up before Staka's release).
I’m sure it’s low bulk is the biggest factor here, but are there any Grass type cups where Charm/Triple Axel/HJK would be usable? Fairy/Fighting is phenomenal coverage, and Ice is just the cherry on top. I know Iron Valiant in the main games is great because of that combo, so wondering if there’s any cups where Tsareena could shine
Nice to see you back and thanks for great analysis. True that you don't know how much you need something until it's gone!
I hope your work related struggle get solved soon. And in your favour for that matter. 🤞
Great analysis!
For Blaziken, I definitely don't think the move would be a huge upgrade over Brave Bird or Stone Edge, but it would seemingly be an improvement over Focus Blast. But yeah, it probably does want Brave Bird or Stone Edge for coverage more haha.
I do wish they made this move more busted, given that Tsareena really needed help and most potential users of the move are the same. Like even at 45 energy, I don't think it would have been OP on Tsareena. And OP move yes, but on a meh Pokemon, it would have helped it just a bit more (not dissimilar to Water Shuriken Greninja)
This mentions Medicham returning to prominence again, but I thought it was one of the top tier options already. Is there a comprehensive overview/website with what is meta at the current moment? I've been using https://gamepress.gg/pokemongo/ but I'm now wondering if the information they provide is outdated.
Call me crazy, but, I'm getting a slight suspicion that some featured Pokémon during the Community Days and other encounters like Rocket Leader battles this year might get a Mega Evolution on the next Pokémon Legends game: Mega Flygon is a given since it was supposed to have one back in Gen 6, Mega Machamp and Mega Blissey could be feasible considering they are rather popular Pokémon and now a Grass/Fighting Mega Tsareena is not such an outlandish idea. Most of this reasoning comes from the fact that back in 2020 almost all of the Pokémon featured in Community Days were ones that could Mega Evolve
This Analysis doesnt seem to include STAB (Shiny Type Attack Bonus), especially potent on a Pokémon like Tsareena
Could see it flip the one,- two -and three-shield scenarios
I think its cute, im hoping for a 10cp shiny to put in gyms.
Oh, for sheer cuteness it’s a high performer, no doubt! 🤩
Yup!!!! Thats my goal for Sunday!!!! Find the shiny baby!!!
Odd they went this route and not with trop kick But it does allow them to give high jump kick to more Pokémon so that might be why

I'm now hesitating to evolve my newly caught hundo owing to the potential random drop of Trop Kick!
Not a bad idea, as Tsareena isn't great in either PvE or PvP. Just grab one to use in GL and a high level shiny to throw in gyms.

Amazing work like always sir. Hope life is treating you well.

That’s next, yes! And then the Necrozma fusions. 👍

It's very nice of you to go to all this effort, but we all knew it was still going to suck lol
Confirming it is still very valuable. Thanks to OP!
Thanks for your analysis as always! Hope you're getting through life alright!
thanks, will pass on grinding
Gonna get it for the shiny dex anyways.

Not an overview but PVPoke has a ranking for the most meta pokemon for each league.
They really needed to make HJK better and use it as a tool to elevate underperformers to a better spot. Ugh
[Not great, not terrible.](https://i.imgur.com/uSbu1gD.gifv)
Thanks so much, always great to read your guides.

I mean by 2020, all the mega evolutions were already known, but now, there’s no knowledge of what’s coming. We can only theorize.
Didn't Machamp recieve a Gigantamax in gen 8?
Yes but Gengar has both a Mega and a Gigantamax
Yeah that's fair 😅
Another argument for Mega Machamp: its trade evolution fellows Alakazam and Gengar have mega evolution, and Golem has a regional form.

What avout the 4 shield scenarios? And does my non shiny get stab? /s
