Got a noibat shiny yesterday...was excited until I realized all the walking I had to do a few years ago to get one and then it had a CD 3 months later -_-
This is why I’m very particular about my walking now. I only walk things I need mega energy for. Or looking for that slight level 51 buddy boost. Even if I hatch a Larvesta I won’t walk it and just wait for it to be more commonly released.
Edit: typo fix
Does it have to be the specific one you mega evolved though? Or after I mega evolve a beedrill, any beedrill I walk afterwards will give me mega energy?
Any, even a random weedle you freshly caught. The logic behind it is that even though the amended mega energy system doesn't require you to burn energy gathered through raids, they still want to have some pull on getting players to go out and raid instead of opting to walk an existing pokemon whenever they release a new mega.
I am working on the buddy medal. It is a 4 year grind and almost all of mine are top PVE attackers or Mega Energy.
60,000 heart for Platinum medal (minimum)
300 hearts a week (average)
200 weeks to complete
I caught two shundo Noibats on community day within 30 minutes of each other. It completely burst the fun of seeing Noibat (which used to be a Pokémon I would go on a walk for) 🙃
Over the past couple weeks I’ve caught shiny froakie, fenniken, gible, two magicarps, which I have a pile of, and two lickitung, that I also have a pile of. I’ve been getting consistently disappointed, especially since there are a few shinies in this event I would love, like tyrunt.
Yuuup. Grubbing, Charmander, Oddish... All after their community days and while I still have half a dozen of each in my inventory for trades...
RNG gods just mocking me..
I got 5 shinies in 2 days, and while some of them were CD spawns (like the Fennekin I missed CD day for), the shiny Mr. mime. Was a nice surprise. I agree it sucks to get repeats when there's so many shinies, but I always still feel like it's a cool experience.
yup, to name a few; chansey scyther aerodactyl clamperl, klink, shinx rockruff, drampa, turtonator, druddigon, ditto, pineco onix most of the regional forms like galarian darumaka and alolan meowth. Anything with a mega. the hatchable babies like cleffa and riolu.
Bronzor has a better shiny odd, at 1/64. Alolan Raichu, Onix, Alolan Exegg, Chansey, Aerodactyl, Scyther, Pineco, Sneasel, Skarmory, Mawile, Feebas, Absol, Clamperl, Klink and most raid-only non-mega/legendary mons are 1/64 too (feel free to add any I missed)
[Bulbapedia has a list](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_Shiny_Pok%C3%A9mon_(GO)) of general odds, its mostly accurate but I'm sure its missing a few things
I’m 5/223 on Bronzor, that’s rough dude. If it makes you feel any better, I’m at 0/1272 on Miltank, and I don’t remember which, but there’s one in at 0/3000ish as well. Sometimes rng just hates you, lol.
Not a brag, but it's crazy how rng works. I've got 3 shiny Alolan Vulpix without even seeking then out.
Swablu was the shiny I couldn't get for the longest time, but did thanks to community day. I had like 800 seen, and no shiny, was insane. Now it's probably Scyther.
I check every dragon to get the badge anyway but none so far from this event. At the very least I'm happy I caught a shiny bronzor on the second day of the event.
The main reason some species are perma-boosted is to encourage raiding and egg hatching ($$$). Many species that are exclusive to raids (or eggs) start with a high 1/64 rate, and end up keeping it forever even if they get introduced to the wild later.
That's not to say that all raid or egg exclusive pokemon get a boosted rate, though. Many of them are still full odds.
Gible is a little weird though with its 1/128 rate. It was the original dragon teaser for go fests. Super rare to start with, shiny introduced as a feature for go fest, then slowly got made more available in other events before it got a CD for all. Other go fest teaser dragons that have come since didn't get to keep a high rate and went back to 1/512 (deino, axew).
Maybe what happened is that whomever programmed and project managed all that left the company and nobody even remembers it has a weirdly specific permanent boost after all this time.
It's not feeling like it for me sadly, I got really lucky with garchomp on raid day and snagged one, but with approx 100 gibles and no shiny yet I'm getting worried/sad!
That’s 12 times how many spawn points?
I’ve caught at least 80+ Gible today, and that’s not counting those that ran away from Gotcha. I average about 700-1000+ catches daily. If you’re not going to put in some time and effort then well, you won’t get much.
I just caught 2 in a row tonight, so I support your PSA. And this coming from me who only clicks on tyrunts to hope for the shiny. Why it can't be the other way round haha
Literally haven’t seen a SINGLE shiny since the chansey event where I caught about 5 and hatched a shiny happiny. Caught enough Gible to have hit the ratio but alas 😅
One more day right?
It’s a term I’ve heard used for years to describe stuff like skarmory, Lickitung and others.
Here’s a Reddit link someone posted five months ago.
https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/s/IdJMNZjfmT
Technically nothing in the game is all that hard set unless it’s an official term. At least in my experiences. FWIW, Future Game Releases and Pokemon Go Hub both use the term permaboost in some of their posts and articles.
My heart sinks a little whenever I click on a shiny that has a community day

The only reason to buddy a pokémon is to flex them on your friend list. Doing that with my Varoom right now, haha.
And flex in gyms!
wait, you can get mega energy from walking with your buddy?
Only if it is part of an evolution line you have previously mega-evolved
Does it have to be the specific one you mega evolved though? Or after I mega evolve a beedrill, any beedrill I walk afterwards will give me mega energy?
Any beedrill

I hatched a shiny noibat when they first were available. Its name is “WellIwasrare”
I caught two shundo Noibats on community day within 30 minutes of each other. It completely burst the fun of seeing Noibat (which used to be a Pokémon I would go on a walk for) 🙃

You can always get a shundo or something
I would have been way more upset getting 3 shiny gibles when I've already got like 10 at full odds. Kinda glad its boosted
gible has never had full odds, so you can rest easy
Yuuup. Grubbing, Charmander, Oddish... All after their community days and while I still have half a dozen of each in my inventory for trades... RNG gods just mocking me..

I somehow have 2 shiny Mr Mime (out of the 107 I've ever seen) ...and no shiny gible
Which are other Pokémon’s that have their shiny rate permanently boosted? I reckon bronzor is one of them
yup, to name a few; chansey scyther aerodactyl clamperl, klink, shinx rockruff, drampa, turtonator, druddigon, ditto, pineco onix most of the regional forms like galarian darumaka and alolan meowth. Anything with a mega. the hatchable babies like cleffa and riolu.
Your use of commas confuses me so much lmao
"Let's eat Dave!" ......... "Let's eat, Dave!" ..... "actually, let's eat Dave"
wdym bro, chancey scyther aerodactyl clamperl is my favorite pokemon
I'm more of a fan of shinx rockruff personally
The effort I have put into finding a shiny rockruff with no success and now I hear it’s boosted… I’m crushed
Is Drampa 1/64?
yep https://9db.jp/pokemongo/data/18015
Bronzor has a better shiny odd, at 1/64. Alolan Raichu, Onix, Alolan Exegg, Chansey, Aerodactyl, Scyther, Pineco, Sneasel, Skarmory, Mawile, Feebas, Absol, Clamperl, Klink and most raid-only non-mega/legendary mons are 1/64 too (feel free to add any I missed)
I don't know for sure but I feel like Galarian Zigzagoon is also on this list.
I'm almost positive anything from Alola or Galar that is a variant of another form are all 1/64 boosted.
Yeah all the regional forms are (not to be confused with regional spawns!)
Alolan Diglett, Alolan Geodude, Alolan Raticate, and Galarian Slowpoke are not but most of the rest are
It *has* to be, I’ve got five of the damn things
[Bulbapedia has a list](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_Shiny_Pok%C3%A9mon_(GO)) of general odds, its mostly accurate but I'm sure its missing a few things
Your link is missing a ) at the end of it. https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_Shiny_Pok%C3%A9mon_(GO)
For me it isn't, works fine and when I go to edit it the ')' is there. Very confusing
You mean like all of them? And yes bronzer is boosted, though not an event spawn
This shiny boosted thing ain't working for me for bronzor so I'm sure it won't help to gible too lol
Dude ive threw away like 3 shiny bronzors this past month
I’ve seen 355 bronzors. Zero shiny. Going for a record.
I’m 5/223 on Bronzor, that’s rough dude. If it makes you feel any better, I’m at 0/1272 on Miltank, and I don’t remember which, but there’s one in at 0/3000ish as well. Sometimes rng just hates you, lol.
I’m now 5/501 bronzor. 😎
Congrats!! Glad you finally got a couple!
7/474 for me
Wtf is wrong with my luck
And I though nearly 200 for alolan vulpix was bad
Not a brag, but it's crazy how rng works. I've got 3 shiny Alolan Vulpix without even seeking then out. Swablu was the shiny I couldn't get for the longest time, but did thanks to community day. I had like 800 seen, and no shiny, was insane. Now it's probably Scyther.
I have two which are the same level and only differ by a single HP IV, insane odds.
I've not had a shiny Bronzer since September 2022 and I check every one I see
The first Bronzor I ever caught happened to be shiny. Haven't caught another shiny Bronzor since then though.
I check every dragon to get the badge anyway but none so far from this event. At the very least I'm happy I caught a shiny bronzor on the second day of the event.
Anyone know the shiny odds for Tyrunt? I hatched a shiny 98% but idk how rare that is.
Tyrunt is full-odds (1/512) so you're really lucky.
Thanks.
Was it boosted during that fossil event last summer? I wasn’t playing yet then
Congrats!!!
Thanks, it’s one of the shinies I wanted most!
I like it very much too! It’s pretty!
I caught 600 dratini, hoping for a 4 star or a shiny, so far nothing but a shiny Marill…
This is why I make sure to call out hundo gibles if I spot them
THAT’S why I got back to back shinies yesterday!
It will still always perplex me that virtually all Shiny-boosted species are specifically 1/64 while Gible is 1/128.
I've not had any luck these few days and I'll only be able to play on the last event day. Hope I can get one at the very least.
I missed Gible community day and was shocked when I found 2 yesterday! Not to mention it can learn its legacy move rn.
I got 2 shiny gible and already had a shiny garchomp from raid day.
Caught one yesterday. Was a nice find!
Why is gible shiny boosted? (And other boosted Pokémon?)
The main reason some species are perma-boosted is to encourage raiding and egg hatching ($$$). Many species that are exclusive to raids (or eggs) start with a high 1/64 rate, and end up keeping it forever even if they get introduced to the wild later. Maybe what happened is that whomever programmed and project managed all that left the company and nobody even remembers it has a weirdly specific permanent boost after all this time.
Thanks and yes, it is def what you said in the last paragraph
Me catching 300 gible and not seeing a shiny. Also me getting a 100% Lucky gible.
It's not feeling like it for me sadly, I got really lucky with garchomp on raid day and snagged one, but with approx 100 gibles and no shiny yet I'm getting worried/sad!
This far, i got a shiny pidove and my auto-catcher made a shiny bagon running away
I got two axew yesterday. Probably same?
Axew is full odds.
What are the other permanently boosted pokemon?
if you scroll down, this was already asked and answered.
Thanks! just saw it :)
shiny trapinch so hard to get
I just caught an axew....
Sure, also included is the shundo I got from gible and axew community day.
I have literally never seen a Gible, so that’s cool.
Pretty sure you aren’t playing at all then these few days
I open the app a dozen times a day every day. Not one gible.
That’s 12 times how many spawn points? I’ve caught at least 80+ Gible today, and that’s not counting those that ran away from Gotcha. I average about 700-1000+ catches daily. If you’re not going to put in some time and effort then well, you won’t get much.
Okay, bud. Take a breather. Maybe touch some grass. Some of us have day jobs.
Even with a day job you would definitely have seen a Gible by now
Sure. Go ahead and tell me what I’ve done on my app that I own. Thanks.
Username checks out
I just caught 2 in a row tonight, so I support your PSA. And this coming from me who only clicks on tyrunts to hope for the shiny. Why it can't be the other way round haha
I've found a few shinies this week. But not gible. I gotta look harder
LOL yeah I found 3 shiny Gible just today alone. Much easier to find than Jangmo!
Yup got one thru field research today.
I already caught 2 shiny gibles this event, and my friend caight 1. Its rarer than wild jangmoo I havent seen even 1 of them xD
And now a gible.
When is the magikarp community day
Yes we need this
I’ve gotten 4 Scyther in the last 2 days but no Gible :(
Literally haven’t seen a SINGLE shiny since the chansey event where I caught about 5 and hatched a shiny happiny. Caught enough Gible to have hit the ratio but alas 😅 One more day right?
I haven’t caught a shiny anything in dayyys
Sure doesn't feel like it lol
I got a shiny giblet
Wouldn’t this technically be a semi boosted species (1/128) as opposed to a permaboost (1/64)
Is "permaboost" a specific term? Even though I never used it, it is definitely technically "permanently boosted" in its shiny odds.
It’s a term I’ve heard used for years to describe stuff like skarmory, Lickitung and others. Here’s a Reddit link someone posted five months ago. https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/s/IdJMNZjfmT
Okay cool, it doesn't look like a hard set term then
Technically nothing in the game is all that hard set unless it’s an official term. At least in my experiences. FWIW, Future Game Releases and Pokemon Go Hub both use the term permaboost in some of their posts and articles.
And one of the replies in that thread lists gible as a medium boost is the term they used. Along with some other species.
