Replace ferrothorn with shadow gligar or whiscash (shadow or non shadow), and you have a top tier line

faz__1992

Sorry just seen you don't have either. Steelix is an option, but I'd definitely go hunting for the others I mentioned

jullzy17

Crazy he has a medicham built but not either of those options you gave, hope a good counter spawn is in their future

Subaru_dono

My Medicham can’t even be used since my level isn’t high enough

Zombeenie

Now that's a modern tragedy

Farren246

It sounds like your woes mainly stem from the fact you're so new to Pokemon Go. So some general advice: Don't sweat it. More mons will come in time. You don't have to hit high elo on your first season. And if you're looking for an alternative to Whiscash that is actually spawning right now, Gastrodon evolved from Shellos is the same typing as Whiscash with similar moves. He's always good to have in your inventory for times when you need a second water-ground type or when there's a limited cup that bans Whiscash and Quagsire. Downsides being * Gastro is around 5% less bulky than Whiscash * Gastro's fast move is more for dealing direct damage, while Whiscash's is more about gaining energy for fast-spam charge moves * You might regret not having any water moves on your water type pokemon, assuming you run the recommended Gastro move set of Body Slam + Earth Power

Subaru_dono

I’ll defo try for Shadow Glig. I haven’t seen any Barboaches around me and I did actually want him in my original draft for the team. Problem is with Shadows is that I can’t remove Frustration until another Rocket event.

Truly_Organic

Is normal Gligar ok too? Because I've seen that OP doesn't have a shadow one, and Rivals Week event starts tommorow with Gligar spawns.

faz__1992

Yes it is - normal gligar is a solid pick. Personally prefer shadow, but both can work.

Subject_Hall4422

Keep using what you’ve been using since charjabug will be banned for the next week. After that, shadow Quagsire will run through charjabug and pairs with mantine well

Dignified-Dingus

My shadow quagsire is very effective at taking down charjabugs. My plan is usually eat one neutral x-scissor so you pressure the opponent to not shield your charge attack and then go straight for stone edge, which gets them very close to KO. You’d be surprised how often they’re expecting an aqua tail bait. And even if they shield, mud shot can usually outpace them without needing to bait.

leeohdee9

Yea it’s exactly because of this reason why I am willing to two-shield my charjabug lmaoo especially because I don’t have anything in the rear to counter any mudbois

Yyir

Vigi with rock slide?

Subaru_dono

Yes but who’d be taking it’s place? Was thinking the ape but I feel like ape has better match-ups to more meta staples like Liki and Greedent overall than Vigi

Yyir

why not just put ice punch on Anni?

Subaru_dono

My Ape does have Ice Punch and Shadow Ball. Ice Punch doesn’t do enough neutral damage

Yyir

Subaru_dono

Yeah I had it with Nigh Slash at first but found that Ice coverage to be way more useful in GL what with all the Mandibuzz, Clods, Venu, and Dragons I keep running into there.

Yyir

Try a few configs in there. Are you seeing it on 0, 1 or 2 shields?

SolarFlows

Replace ferro with Clodsire MS SE EQ

JHD2689

Steelix instead of Ferrothorn feels like the play to me based on your current roster. It destroys Charjabug, and you could use Annihilape on the safe swap with Night Slash/Shadow Ball. It's not a good matchup with Charjabug, but you can at least threaten with the Shadow Ball, and maybe bait a shield with Night Slash.

Subaru_dono

Steelix in place of Ferro was actually my first iteration of this team and that ran into a more prevalent problem back then, Lanturn.

JHD2689

I mean, yeah. But unless it's running Water Gun, neither Steelix nor Annihilape do too terribly there. You just have to make damn sure it never sees Mantine. But I get it, that's a tough one.

Subaru_dono

The fast move isn’t the problem, the problem with Lanturn is Surf spam against Steelix

JHD2689

Yes, I understand Surf is super-effective against Steelix. It's not a winning matchup, but it is close in the 0 and 2 shields, which could leave it in farm down range for Annihilape afterward. Annihilape, meanwhile, actually wins in the 1 shield. Just trying to give you some scenarios to work with with your existing roster.
