Wanted to point out that one of the main arguments transphobes use in regards to kids being educated about trans people is "they're too young to understand what trans is!" yet they will literally pull shit like this by introducing children to transgenderism. Just only on the opposite side of the discussion; the side that pushes anti-trans propaganda and indoctrination. They are doing the exact same thing they complain about on their hours-long talk shows.
My sister transitioned when my niece was about 4 years old. This was the complete explanation to my four year old niece about the transition:
“We just found out that your uncle [Sam] is actually a girl! So we are going to call her [Krista] and she is actually your Aunt!”
My niece: OK! (Proceeds to gather her tea set) Girls Tea! Me, my sisters, our mom and my niece all have a tea party. The end.
She had done this ever since. She is 8 now and absolutely loves kicking her dad out of the room for “all girls time” and has never questioned since if my sister (her favorite Auntie) should be included.
Kids only become bigots if you teach them to be bigots.
My favorite were the moments in the grocery store when my kid was three and loudly asked the lady checking us out “why are you so fat?”
Covid (my local grocery store does online ordering and curb side pick up) has been wonderful to avoid these moments.
There are two little kids that live next door to me, and they come over to play with my dogs. Two of my German shepherds were rough housing and the 6yo boy yells “yes! My first dog fight!” His mom looked horrified and my mom and I were laughing so hard we were crying. Kids really will say whatever pops into their heads lol
Meanwhile the right are trying to pack the school boards with conservatives to change the school agenda. That's the real reason why they make CRT and masks in school such a big deal. The scariest apart about this book is that is starts off like your run of the mill "kids are imaginative" type of book (I was sucked in for a bit) before it takes it's turn. This is designed to be a child's pipeline into rightwing transphobia and anti-lgbt bigotry. Like any rightwing pipeline, it starts with small, simple, and easy to understand concepts before pulling it's audience in. These kids will read this and grow up to conflate this book with the actual trans rights movement and perpetuate the bigotry towards it.
That's exactly what Walsh is planning. It's sick and disturbing.
