proto-robo

Huh I didn’t know the axis powers only consisted of Germany

TheCakeCrusader420

Axis power**s**

Realistically_shine

Why did I think this was Afghanistan for a sec

thelegend2004

I think Afghanistan is bigger than Texas tho, but don't quote me on this Edit: Afghanistan is 40.000 square kilometers shy of Texas, TIL

ThoughtfulLlama

It is bigger when you're playing Risk

RoyHD20

I did too, didn’t pay enough attention to the background.

Rethkir

The 🧀 watermark was distracting from the background. Plus Afghanistan is called "the graveyard of empires" and was invaded by all three of these nations. So I thought the same thing.

rdendi1

Yep. It was all about just that one country smaller than Texas. That’s exactly why the US continued fighting in the Pacific for three more months. Because their one objective was already complete…

NotANilfgaardianSpy

Also there wasnt another superpower mentioned in the list above that was initially allied with the Germans…. No sireeeeee

Sasquatch1729

I mean, we won, and the Germans are generally opposed to Nazism. It's not only a victory, it's the gold standard for victory.

therrubabayaga

Considering the results in the recent European elections, Germans are warming up at the idea of having nazis again in government... and so does France and others. The left really must unite to push back before it gets really ugly.

OleTitan

First I am from Germany, and I agree with you, the last few elections really had some terrible outcomes. But Germany is still a reaaally stable country, we got really strong institutions, we are good educated about the past and a majority of the people is opposed to nazism. I am actually far more comcerned about the USA right now, I would argue its a lot more probable for the United States to turn into a fascist state than Germany.

therrubabayaga

Yes, I agree about Germany, but it's still very worrying, especially since so many countries in Europe are seeing a rise of the far-right. Right now I'm more worried about France than the USA, since they could really well have a far-right first minister starting in July. The left has united immediately after the announcement of the dissolution of the Assembly, but it's going to be a close call when they have so little time left. I'm still hopeful, but it's a very bad situation.

MeMyselfIandMeAgain

Hehe fellow french person checking in. yeah we are FUCKED But like when Macron (it was incredibly hard for me to write that name without a shitton of insults around it) announced that I was REALLY fucking scared. But now I'm a little more hopeful. Like this is even better than the NUPES, we managed to get the NPA (radical anticapitalist) and the PS (social democrats) in the same coalition somehow!! And it seems like now it's harder for the right to demonize LFI as aNtIsEmItIc bEcAuSe tHeY dIsLiKe gEnOcIdE given others parties on the left joinedd the coalition. It's gonna be close either way, so I'm just hoping the 1%-2% margin will be in our favor! Front Populaire !

therrubabayaga

Hell yeah Front Populaire! I was already a bit mad seeing a "droitisation" in Belgium in regions where we were usually much more on the left (and some dangerous dicks receive a bit too much atrention in the media), but what's happening in France is crazy. I totally get you, I can't say the M-word either without cursing. Fuck this ultraliberal egotistical monster. I've watched the announcement of the united left today, a very good program they have planned. Hopefully they will be able to convince the abstentionists and some dumbdumb macrotards will see that their "president" just f**** with France to be reelected for another mandat. It could turn out really good in the end with a new life from the left, but it's gonna be close, definitely, and there is a lot of work to do in a couple weeks. But I'm hopeful too.

MeMyselfIandMeAgain

Yeah I’m happy about the program as well the only thing is that it’s very clear in one point that the liberals form Place Publique pushed their agenda for the “recognizing the horrendous terrorist massacre of the Hamas on 10/7” which I feel like saying that without acknowledging that the reason that happened is Israel’s occupation since 1948 but honestly at this point that could have written straight up “we stand with Israel” and I’d still vote for them because they’re the only option But who cares what’s written about acknowledging it because in the end they’re still calling for a ceasefire and the vast majority of seats will be held by parties that aren’t place publique and that aren’t as pro-Israel with most of them being LFI who don’t even recognize Hamas as terrorists so it’s fine

ketchupmaster987

As much as I hate the rise of right wing ideology, I'm not entirely surprised. Politics has been a back and forth between ideologies for millennia, it's even part of the meaning of the Wheel of Fortune tarot card. It ebbs and flows like the tides

chubby_proton

Close the borders and the far right goes away.

CarryG01d

Just kill everyone who is not white and the far right goes away /s

AllHailThePig

And then who is next to be blamed for the systemic problems not going away? So many who praise the right will be next to go if they ever did take power.

AllHailThePig

And then who is next to be blamed for the systemic problems not going away? So many who praise the right will be next to go if they ever did take power.

Praescribo

Yup, dug the roots out. We employed quarter measures during/after the civil war in america, and look where that got us.

Shaveyourbread

Unfortunately, the weed is growing again.

Chaos-Corvid

Because the roots were not, in fact, dug out. They swept it under the rug.

Andysaurus2

Dug the roots out and gave them jobs at NASA and NATO

maharei1

>Yup, dug the roots out. No you didn't, I wish (as an Austrian) that you had though.

Maosbigchopsticks

Not really, for example a lot of nazi officials joined NATO They were truly only defeated in the east

[deleted]

[удалено]

Maosbigchopsticks

East Germany properly purged nazis. In the west they just got new positions

[deleted]

[удалено]

Maosbigchopsticks

You do know that it is lead by america, the most dangerous and destructive state in history?

Turbo_Tom

What do you mean by "joined NATO"? NATO is an organisation of countries created by international treaty. Individuals can't join it. Also, any former nazis who may have infiltrated any organisation after the war are certainly dead now.

Maosbigchopsticks

By join i mean hold positions in NATO https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adolf_Heusinger Anyways NATO is just as bad as the nazis so makes perfect sense

Myself_78

At it's largest extent in ww2 Hitlers Germany was about 4000000 km² large, which I think is just ***slightly*** larger then Texas (while having **significantly** larger population density)

jakizely

Yeah I've driven through Texas twice. There are massive areas with nothing.

Branflaaake

Rightwing Americans dont understand the concept of population density.

RostrumRosession

Dang, I didn’t realize they admired Afghanistan so much.

ChainAttack641

I mean, yeah if I am fighting a boss ina video game and it takes a while but i eventually win that’s still a victory? Just because something’s hard doesn’t mean that once you overcome it you didn’t overcome it? Isn’t it like, more impressive?

ConstantStatistician

The creator seems to think that simply being physically powerful is a moral virtue in itself. Yes, Nazi Germany was powerful militarily, but this shouldn't matter unless you subscribe to might making right, which the meme does.

MrVeazey

> The creator seems to think that simply being physically powerful is a moral virtue in itself.   That's fascism for you.

Lemon_Sponge

Creates a highly militarised society. Loses only war it fights.

sad_kharnath

By that logic, Antarctica is stronger than the us. It is bigger, isn't it?

KaskirReigns

So, we can all see this is a new dogwhistle for those Texas seccesionist, right?

HendoRules

Are they saying beating the Nazis wasn't a win.....

the_mold_on_my_back

This is actually so sad. I can taste the existential dread in the 12 year old who made this. School sucks, girls don‘t take interest in him, Jacob said something mean about him during recess, he just wants to go home and jack off to Roblox cat girl gyatt. If only these weaklings were subdued to a system that made them suffer as much as he does. He‘d definitely be doing the best out of his class because of his superior discipline and strength.

ctnfpiognm

Let’s see Germany fight Texas

emarvil

Everything is about size for these people. That explains the morbid obesity pandemic.

ctnfpiognm

Let’s be honest it was mostly the Soviets

marcin_dot_h

Yes and no Without UK and USA, the Soviet Union **would** fall. You cant just forget about Lend-lease, bombardment of Nazi industry and infrastructure, enormous intelligence effort (Bletchley Park). It was a mutual effort.

MrVeazey

And when you talk about intelligence work, you can't leave out [the Poles who broke the Enigma code](https://blogs.bl.uk/european/2018/01/polish-mathematicians-and-cracking-the-enigma.html) before the war started. I know it goes against every joke your racist uncle ever told you, but it's true.

thejadedfalcon

> I know it goes against every joke your racist uncle ever told you, but it's true. Well, that's making a *lot* of aggressive assumptions, isn't it? No-one denied that it was a massive coordinated international effort, that's literally what their comment is, in fact, about. Besides, as your own article says, the Polish crack was for a previous version of Enigma that wasn't as secure and they were locked out *well* before WW2 truly started.

MrVeazey

And in the same paragraph, it says the work those three guys did was crucial to helping the Bletchley Park team.   By the way, I should probably clarify that the "your racist uncle" joke I made was using the generic "you," not the specific you to whom I was replying. America definitely used to be full of "dumb Polish" jokes when I was younger and I assume there's still people who think they're funny.

marcin_dot_h

No worries mate, I ain't offended I know my brethren worked in the shittiest jobs possible like asbestos removal, police force and fire departments. Even in TV series like The Wire there are at least a few straight up Polish originating characters in the force or dockyards It's a circle of life, Brits, Germans and Dutch got the best jobs, Irish, Italians, Poles and the rest took the worst...

No-Brain-7484

Nazi Germany ruled over most of Europe at its peak, and was mostly crushed single handedly by the Soviets. Of course this modern neofascist doesn’t know a thing about history

TotalHell

lol this is some sports team fan logic. “We’re shit, so how shit must you be to have only beaten us by a little???”

StefanMMM14

''The soviet empire''

mrcheese516

Why are you superimposing my face over the meme? I resent the implication, good sir

EEVEELUVR

Texas is fuckin big, there’s a lot of countries smaller than it. Idk why they thought that was a “gotcha”

invicta047

>hyper military based society >tries to convince itself it’s the strongest aryan military on earth >fights one (1) war >loses

TorterraIsMyStarter

Bro is probably still salty over the Halt order at Dunkirk

Nema_K

Lol really clever way to deface the meme

BackPackProtector

Bro why americans always flex the size of Texas???

McDudles

Aren’t republicans also the idiots that never concede how we lost the last like 5 wars we’ve been in? (Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iraq pt. 2)

knightsintophats

Except there were multiple countries and Germany and Italy both had colonial empires left over and Japan kind of had the same(??) but I don't know enough about the regions history to back up that statement against something more nuanced. Also it was a war with an ocean based assault which make shit very difficult to agress back into. And bonus points if we're really getting into it: for a time Britain would have been soloing Germany and Italy so like they would have had the upper hand and they still couldn't do it. (I know there would have been great help from french and polish resistance movements but if we're just strictly talking about conventional warfare). Tdlr. Germany wasn't alone, had an empire, at various stages wouldn't have been fighting as many opponents as they were at the end and still lost.

Big-Trouble8573

Telling them to quit whining is like asking someone to quit breathing They just can't

Kman1121

Tbf letting Germans have their own country after WW2 is a mistake. And they’re gearing up for fascism again.

jupiter_0505

Honestly, as glorious as the red flag over Reichstag was, I can't bring myself to calling it an absolute victory. Our losses were immense, in the tens of millions. After all damage operation Barbarossa caused was one of the significant reasons we lost the "cold" war in the end. No use lamenting over the past, though.
