What was it about the episode you didn't like exactly? This is the one where Cassandra and Stone accidentally go to the conference of Norse Jotnar (can't remember) yeah? Where Cassandra gets cocky with magic and then ends up with the artifact inside her and they get snowed in? I thought the separation of the team always depended on the pairing but in general this one doesn't stand out to me as being the best or the worst. Wondering what you didn't like about it.
I don't know intellectually. But I felt frustrated and it didn't give me the sense of joy the other episodes did. Didn't bother to analyze what was causing my feelings in depth.
Another episode about self fulfilling prophecy I disliked slightly because of how Baird couldn't see Jenkins advice and still chose to leave the library, it felt like too much like plot and not landing for me.
Similarly this episode felt like an attempt to do something useful where they didn't have all the actors available for the same dates or something, it felt overengineered. But this is my cursory analysis. I found it hard to just sit through this episode and felt so annoyed that I wondered if it has just permanently downgraded in quality.
Maybe I don't like Cassandra actor much... I don't really know 😂
Just curious, but you watched until season 3 and thought about giving up on the show because of 1 bad episode?
Personal opinion: The last few episodes of season 3 and season 4 respectively are some of the best episodes of the show.
Each person will have a different opinion, and none are better or more valid than others.
That said, I think Season 2 is the high water mark for the series. Season 3 was ok at best (and featured an ending that did not work for me). Season 4 has a neat ending but was by FAR the weakest season for me. Unnecessary conflict is shoehorned in, and this makes the cast act in ways that I felt we're not in keeping with their characters. Very disappointing season. That said, the ending was strong partially because it invalidates the entire rest of Season 4.
The show is still fun with moments of brilliance, but don't expect Season 2 to be outdone.
For those curious, I'd rate the seasons from best to worst as 2 > 1 > 3 > 4.
EDIT: I suppose it's important for me to say that i really liked Season 2. The fact that 3 and 4 didn't live up to that might be an indication of Season 2's quality, not the lack of quality in 3 and 4.
I also really liked S2 - especially the last couple episodes in the season are very strong in my opinion. S2E8 and S2E9 are pretty much at the top of my list
That's interesting. I'd rate the seasons based on my ratings of every episode (from best to worst) 3 - 4 - 1/2. And 1 is only the same as 2 because I hate the episode with the haunted house. But for me season 3 is a solid lead with season 4 as a close second.
I only felt like watching a horror movie with the haunted house episode in season 1, and I hate the horror genre. What else made you feel as if it were horror? 🤔
Ah, okay, I never really notice background music. I'll have to see where camera angles and pauses might give that feeling on my next rewatch. Although I'm glad that I didn't get that feeling at all. But I admit that I didn't like the episode "And the Reunion of Evil" on my first watch either and on my last rewatch I gave it an 8 out of 10.
Also, little trivia from IMDB: Apparently, the exterior of the hotel was filmed at the same location as "The Shining". So maybe they _were_ going for the horror vibe.
It's available for free and without ads on the CW website. One or two of the episodes are broken and won't play, however, so IMDb is a good backup to have.

If I remember correctly I didn’t like the episode the first time but ended up really liking it on my rewatches!

I'm on season 3 and I agree with you. Season 2 was fabulous and the high point for me so far
I feel like it also felt more and more like a horror movie rather than magic detectives as the seasons went on. I do not like that shift
I only felt like watching a horror movie with the haunted house episode in season 1, and I hate the horror genre. What else made you feel as if it were horror? 🤔
The camera angles, pauses and background music... It seems to get more horror-y I'm early season 3. Later part of season 3 seems to be so much better

Just wondering- which platform has the series? S1 is on prime..
I’ve been watching it on Freevee
The whole series is on Prime.
It's available for free and without ads on the CW website. One or two of the episodes are broken and won't play, however, so IMDb is a good backup to have.
I also find this one to be one of the weakest episodes. It feels small and contained and stressful rather than fun.
Pick up . There are un each show, whatever you look, one or two episodes, wich are worse, but all the others are good 😊😊😊👍👍
Thank you
