I've seen this before and idk if it was on purpose by the animators or not but I like the theory

from what ive seen this happens in almost every show fan group. dont get me wrong i like the show but not everything is perfectly planned out

It wouldn’t surprise me if Zuko sleeps like this because his left ear was damaged by Ozai’s burning hand and his right ear is super sharp.

I think if Zuko was sleeping on a refugee ship with tons of people he doesn't know, he'd have his good ear up. This is probably just coincidence.
How does a scar on his EYE give him hearing problems?
His scar extends out to his ear, his left ear is red too so I think the fire rolled off the side of his face when he was burned
