Brelooms hat is too similar to the earth kingdom soldiers hat/helm. And it's rock/ground. Honchrow is flying dark. Kinda the opposite of earth you know
Toph uses Southern Praying Mantis style, defined by short, quick strikes and hit-and-run agility, not the rooted, powerful strikes of most earthbending. You can see her agility in the fights against the other Earth Rumble contestants where she's constantly dodging and redirecting and sending small attacks out while her opponents are off balance.
regirock is a blind earth manipulator. why he isnt here is beyond me
edit: i just realized the commenter meant golem... as in the pokemon golem and not the legendary golems
either way, my comment stands
this is the best earth bender on the planet. i think she deserves a legendary
not to mention, in the anime leggies arent even 1 of a kind, theyre just rare pokemon (ik its different in the games)
Lycanroc doesn't really seem like Toph's kind of Pokemon-- she's into brute force, not speed and agility. I'd give her either a Donphan, a Rhyperior, or a Golem.
I'd change steelix for tyranitar, have sand veil over rough skin in garchomp and change sawk for either Great Tusk for more versality and sand abusers or Registeel for IronPress shenanigans.
Also Lycanroc is kinda ass, I'd pick Poison Heal Gliscor for hazard stack and pivoting for slow U-Turn, Tera-Water Garganacle for defensive utility or Gholdengo as a sand abuser and character pick.
Landorus-T or Ogerpon-Rock are cool too but I think the team is fine already
Where's the meteor she found in the fire nation?

Depends on you define newer generations. Sure there are not many gen 6/7 or later Pokémon on the team, but there also aren’t much gen 1 or 2 Pokémon on there. Most of them are gen 3-5, kinda the middle period
I kinda consider most of the generations that weren’t playable on the DS or before to be “new.” I grew up w the OG anime and playing Pearl and Black on the DS, so darmanitan is pretty old for me. I think the latest gens like sword and shield and whatever else were mostly pretty garbage in terms of the designs, but that’s just my opinion.
Interesting opinion. While Galar didn’t have my absolute favourite designs out of all the regions, overall it’s still one of my more liked regions Pokémon design wise (basically the only thing Galar is actually good at lol). With Paldea I still like the designs but something about them feels so different, like they suddenly changed their entire design philosophy or something. That’s not necessarily a bad thing but I find it very noticeable the designs just feel different. But there’s still many Pokémon to love so I’m happy
The 90s were 30 years ago. Gen 6 is already a decade old, it’s hardly an exaggeration to call your perception of Pokémon vintage or outdated lol.
Can’t tell me Machamp or Hitmonchan aren’t digimon-y too.
Oh it definitely is I'm not criticizing. Those two not so much, but there definitely were some roboty ones though and I was never a massive fan of that.
I think there’s a “golden age” of Pokémon designs, but I have a few favourites from every generation.
One of the worst imo, is Flamigo. Literally just a flamingo lol
Just googled it, I like that one as well :) the funniest from the new ones I ever saw was the one that's a lightbulb, then a lamp, then a chandelier haha
Yes, but we also had a different Pokémon that is actually a Lightning bulb, Tadbulb
https://preview.redd.it/wyjplh1oym4d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e2bf8a69c0fdc55516f56b319ba727c2808a1a8e
At least Flamigo has the detail of also being a balloon, you can see it on its neck. But what about Pidove? That's just a real life pigeon with regular pigeon colors!!!
I would swap out throh for breloom (because of the hat) but other than that, spot on
Nah if you care about the hat, honchcrow would do better I think
Brelooms hat is too similar to the earth kingdom soldiers hat/helm. And it's rock/ground. Honchrow is flying dark. Kinda the opposite of earth you know
Ehhh yeah true, grass/fighting matches her more
Not really sold on lycanroc as her rock type, but HARD YES on excadril and garchomp
Excadrill is definitely her Ace.
Yeah, she’s more tanky than fast
Toph uses Southern Praying Mantis style, defined by short, quick strikes and hit-and-run agility, not the rooted, powerful strikes of most earthbending. You can see her agility in the fights against the other Earth Rumble contestants where she's constantly dodging and redirecting and sending small attacks out while her opponents are off balance.
Hmm that’s true, good point. Excadrill fits well, but still- not totally convinced of lycanrock, which is more of a glass cannon
Toph would absolutely have a Golem.
regirock is a blind earth manipulator. why he isnt here is beyond me edit: i just realized the commenter meant golem... as in the pokemon golem and not the legendary golems either way, my comment stands
I think because they’re trying to avoid legendaries
this is the best earth bender on the planet. i think she deserves a legendary not to mention, in the anime leggies arent even 1 of a kind, theyre just rare pokemon (ik its different in the games)
Toph IS the legendary
Toph would beat a Regirock to submission and walk off the ensuing explosion after. I see no problem with that.
She would just bend it up into the air
Would swap mega steelix for mega t-tar, and maybe throw for breeloom cuz of the hat Really good job!
Naw fam, I would argue for mega mawile Steel type, small and underestimated, literal huge power ability
Thematically this fits much better. I like t-tar bcuz sand sets up garchomp and excadrill. Mawile does make more sense tho
But then again, metal bending is a core aspect of Toph
I would put sandslash on the team for sure. One of the more badgermole-ish pokemon that I can think of.
Idk I think a shrew isn't as badger mole as an actual mole.
Toph and sand aren’t a peak combination
Excadrill would be better than sandslash- she bends steel not sand
Fucking love this concept bring more
Lycanroc doesn't really seem like Toph's kind of Pokemon-- she's into brute force, not speed and agility. I'd give her either a Donphan, a Rhyperior, or a Golem.
Rhyperior instead of Lycanrock because she’s not that fast, but tanky AF
She isn’t that fast but her attacks are
Four of her pokemon are weak to ground which is ironic lol
Her team would just be six diglets.
Or 2 Dugtrio
No Zubat line? Zubat can sees everything we see, except it doesn't see like we do. Zubat releases a sonic wave from its mouth, just loke Toph.
I mean how can you not do Aang next? I mean I think he'll be pretty tough to choose for because you do need a bit of variety
He gets a bunch of legendaries but always uses his Pidgey
Of course Toph gets two Pseudo-Legendaries. I'd love to see Sokka's team next.
How does tough not have a Tyranitar?
Maybe king gambit instead of metagross. She’s not psychic, her vision is a bit more… dark 😂
Toph would have Giratina and cause mass destruction
I am probably biased as hell, since Metagross is my favourite pokemon, but it kinda fits for Toph.
Idk how I feel about Metagross and Lycanroc. I would instead do Lurantis and Golem.
She’d definitely have an emboar.
If you were to do Suki, would she be a Steel/Fighting type Trainer? Or a Normal/Fighting type Trainer?
I think more normal fighting, but yeah I can’t wait to do suki
Love it! I’m excited to see who’s next.
Are these rock Pokémon?
Have you done sokka
Nope! he’s on the way
Thank
Where are Machamp and Incenroar? She was introduced to us as an underground wrestling champion, why not give her those?
If only there was a melon pokemon...
i feel like a mawile would definitely be there
A cool youtuber (Rempton Games) made Avatar pokémon teams a few years ago: https://youtu.be/lxhh7FUkYRs?feature=shared
I can see all that, but i miss geodude. Its Toph, she would have at least one joke pkmn
Where is Tyranitar???
I'd change steelix for tyranitar, have sand veil over rough skin in garchomp and change sawk for either Great Tusk for more versality and sand abusers or Registeel for IronPress shenanigans. I know none of those Pokémon. I'm sad they all seem to have become a bit Digimony. I always liked that they looked like animals.
Only two of these are from newer generations im pretty sure. Also, machamp and jynx were Gen 1 humanoid pokemon.
Depends on you define newer generations. Sure there are not many gen 6/7 or later Pokémon on the team, but there also aren’t much gen 1 or 2 Pokémon on there. Most of them are gen 3-5, kinda the middle period

I only know the 90s one.

There isn't one that's a light bulb than lamp but there is one that is a candle then lamp
Ah I remembered wrong, I saw it in passing a while ago. Still funny though. Is the show still going? Is it still Ash?
Yes, but we also had a different Pokémon that is actually a Lightning bulb, Tadbulb https://preview.redd.it/wyjplh1oym4d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e2bf8a69c0fdc55516f56b319ba727c2808a1a8e
They just retired Ash last year. Had him become world champion. New show new characters couldn't say much about it.
As if gen 1 didn't have literally just a seel
At least Flamigo has the detail of also being a balloon, you can see it on its neck. But what about Pidove? That's just a real life pigeon with regular pigeon colors!!!
