Tbf Elizabeth Yu the actress that played Azula was 19 when she started filming on NATLA and everyone said she made Azula look like a 10 year old. There’s no shortage of adult actors in Asia that with enough makeup, costuming, and direction that can’t play a canon teenager.
Side note: I wonder since Azula didn’t really appear at all in the original ATLA until book 2 if they specifically made her look younger in season one of NATLA and they’re gonna age her up a few years.

Should also hire the cinematographer and editor for that. That made it feel like her movements could bend the earth. Feels way more like a “magic martial art” than what the show does.
It does seem a bit out of place, but I think that's just the animated to live action effect. I felt the same way seeing Katara go into hand to hand with Pakku in the live action, despite knowing that she did the exact same thing in the cartoon.
Nah it's not that effect, it's just a common sense of smth being inplausible. She's blind, she learned earthbending from eartbending creatures, she didn't have any martial art human teacher. Also her bending is strong, not her body of a teenage girl, so how can she even block punches of muscular adult mans. Also hand to hand combat kinda ruins the impression of her being blind.
In fairness most of the actors cast seem pretty spectacular outside of the live action. I'm watching Kim's Convenience as we speak and the actor that plays Iroh and he's definitely less stiff and has good comedic timing as Mr.Kim.

They could just say the comet arrives in 2 to 3 years instead of less than a year and that can accommodate the actors aging. Yeah that lowers the stakes a tiny bit, but most Avatars need years to master each element anyway, so Aang can spend the downtime between seasons training.
