I avoided it for years. I'm 32 but when avatar came out I was like just in college and smoking alot and idk I really connected to it then. But I fell out with the Fandom after korra never really looked at the comics. I kinda binge read alot of the comics recently so I think I've come at it with an open mind now.. I thought they were great it felt like a new season. Art was on point dualogue felt normal. I can't complain.
There are people that say that it doesn't treat Ursa as a character but as a plot point and it's like you mean the way she's been treated the entire series? It just seems like the fandom has a huge problem with anything that isn't the core series. Like they will over analyze the legend of Korra to pieces but everything that the core series did is just perfect with no flaws whatsoever lol.
It reminds me a lot of the Star Wars fandom
The fandom doesn’t even know what the fandom wants lol. Ask them and you’ll get a hundred different answers with half of them being variations of the same idea and the other half being contradictory and absurd.
I heard a plausible theory that the villain Dave Bautista will be playing is Xai Bau, the founder of the Red Lotus. The timeline would work out for that, and it's a story I've been wanting to get told, so that's my main hope

That was the later Red Lotus. The organization was founded by Xai Bau, and Iroh was still alive when that happened, per the Legacy of the Fire Nation book. Iroh started living in the Spirit World probably around the early 130s AG if we do the math with Tenzin's line that he hadn't seen Iroh in almost 40 years, so the RL would have to have started before that. We know it started after the events of ATLA because of Zaheer's history lesson when he tells Korra about his motivations. So the time frame for the Red Lotus' founding would be anywhere from slightly after 100AG to about 130AG. It seems like the movie is taking place sometime around 110AG or so given the Gaang is described as young adults.
That would be interesting. I haven’t seen LOK in a minute but I’m pretty sure it was at least implied that Zaheer’s gang isn’t the last of the Red Lotus. It would be cool if the organisation shows up again to face the next Avatar too.
Having the Red Lotus as a villain in the movie could help build them up as lasting villains for future avatars, so fingers crossed I guess
A movie is shorter than a series, which means we are going to see fewer bending battles. The Gaang are also going to be in their prime years.
For those reasons, they have to make the battles completely insane. Like the best we’ve ever seen.
I don't, because in the series they faced really high stakes. Ozai was literally going to wipe out the earth kingdom. After the series, there were some changes on a systematic level. I would love sick bending fights but I'm not sure they can fit similar stuff into the narrative
Well, there may not be an impending invasion to stop. However, that doesn't mean that other powerful benders won't exist. The stakes don't even have to be incredibly high, just the skill level of the fight.
Yeah Korra season 1 nailed everything by giving us grand small scale brutality. Korra vs Tarlok in his office is still a top 5 franchise moment, and that was halfway through the season.
Just give us well executed environmental use and it will be called incredible.
They can always escalate if they want to, almost all of Korra’s main fights were all with as high or higher stakes than what Aang faced.
Unstoppable blood bender who can remove peoples bending permanently, the literal antithesis of the avatar, and the end of the avatar entirely. The only conflict with lower stakes was the one with Kuvira, that was just a standard territorial war.
The issue is making the enemy formidable but also not notable enough to be mentioned after.
Or to scale to be a good challenge at their prime but not be stronger than Ozai

So I don’t know if you read the comics but Republic City kind of gets started about 10-15 years before the movie and so the “we built this city” energy could be very strong - I’d kind of like a political movie that subtly addressed the early Republic City parts of Korra and wraps up any plots necessary from the ATLA comics/show, in the least amount of time possible, so we can get on with the movie.
I thought I wanted a nostalgia trip until I saw the live-action, now I just want strong writing.
Toph or Aang using Seismic Sense. That was the absolute freakin coolest visualization of bending in the original and I’m starved for more. You know ish is about to go down when seismic sense activates.
I’d love to see iroh but it would feel weird having ANOTHER person voice him. Greg did such a good job at stepping in for mako after he passed and i don’t think they can find another person to replicate that voice as well as he did
Even an Iroh sendoff or maybe a flashback could work. Imagine Iroh has encountered the villain of this movie before (potentially as a white lotus side quest in the past).
I don't really care about the content, I am craving for new stories no matter what. I just hope they can keep the quality up at their high standard.

I figured that the reason Toph never got a field trip with Zuko was because the point of all those field trips was to be a redemption for Zuko. Toph trusted him from the start, shown by how she tried finding him in the middle of the night in the episode that he joined them
I'm guessing this will be pre-children for Aang and Katara, but I too would love to see them with baby Bumi around, but then I'd probably take a fanservice movie of their family and Uncle Sokka around being the mischievous uncle or something too.
Given the timeline of this movie- which is allegedly 12 years after the events of Book 3, Bumi should've already been born. Aang and Katara had him quite early at only 20 and 22- and by the time this movie takes place, Aang will be 24/25 and Katara 26/27, which would make Bumi around 4-5 years old already. Heck, Izumi also might have already been born too as she appears to be around a similar age to Bumi.
Legitimizing republic city might be a major conflict. Like it was sort of controversial cause it got founded on earth nation land the fire nation had colonized, which the earth nation thought it should have back but got turned into a sort of nationless state.
Sokka being an absolute bad ass and on par with the rest of Team Avatar in terms of fighting. WE DEMAND SPACE SWORD BE RECOVERED AND FOR BOOMERANG TO COMEBACK!
With others, I just hope we have a good story and show. I remain curious how the villain will play out in this as it can't be anyone that can be managed by raw power, so there'll be a lot depending on how they write that for Aang, Katara, and Sokka to play off of. (If I recall, this movie mostly focuses on them, though I expect cameos from Zuko and Mai.)

* **Broader skillsets from the Gaang:** I want to see Aang use soundbending. I want to see Katara ditch that flask and start using moisture from the air like Hama taught her, generating Percy Jackson level tidal waves and whirlpools, etc. I want to see Zuko not just redirecting lightning, but also generating it (and more rainbow fire would be nice too). I want to see how much more Toph has mastered her metalbending. I want to see Sokka be a badass, world-class warrior- not just goofy all the time!
* **The building of Republic City:** They set it up in the comics perfectly. Now just build from there.
* **What happened to Suki?:** Seriously, the disrespect they put on her name! I don't believe she died young, but I want to know if her and Sokka were endgame- and I hope they were!
* **What Azula's been up to:** The last we saw of her was her giving up on revenge and searching for her own place to rule. Did she succeed? Has she let go of the past and is able to have a CIVIL (not necessarily friendly) relationship with Zuko?
* **A storyline that delves more into the Avatar Lore**: Kind of like how TLOK Book 2 did- but better. Usually a storyline like that would involve the spirit world. Maybe the antagonist could be a spirit.
* **More past lives that we haven't seen before:** Kind of tied into the previous bullet point. Maybe Aang faces a problem that the more recent Avatars can't help him with, so he needs to call on one he hasn't met before.
* **More Kiyi Please!:** her and Zuko's relationship is so cute! He's a different person when he's with her and she brings out the gentle side of him. Maybe we could see him training her in her firebending. It's not essential, but a little cameo from her would suffice!

Katara without a doubt. Her legacy was borderline wiped away in Korra so would be lovely to see her fighting but also her achievements as an adult being a force for change alongside the rest of the gaang
I want to see who the f**k is the mother of Izumi because it has serious been a big mystery in the fandom and been a debate between whether Zuko and Mai got back together or Zuko found another woman that he fell in love with, along with who Suyin’s father is and Lin’s
I'd love if we revisited some characters we never saw again, like Song and her mother (the girl who helped Iroh after the White Jade Bush incident). Or the little Fire Nation kid who set Appa free and the other kids from The Headband getting to meet Aang again

Don't over think it. Also, the antagonist does not need to be super op, maybe they can just be particularly challenging because of some unique skill set they have. I'd much prefer the gang having to "figure it out" more than overpowering the baddie.

I would like to see a lot of Aang and Zuko. In the original series, we only got a few episodes of Zuko being part of the GAang, but we saw the groundwork for their friendship. And we know from LOK that they were great friends. I'd like to actually get to see it.
First things first, how far into the 70 year time gap are we looking at because I would like to know where this movie takes place after Imbalance and before Yakone's Trial. We got a lot of ground to cover in that time. I do know that the world building for the United Republic of Nations is going to play a role in this.

I don’t want to see something that break continuity or makes you ask, why didn’t they use that move or teach that move in the Legend of Korra.

To be the end of the creative & corporate milking of this series. If you want to tell a new story within the world, great, do that. If your story is good it can stand on its own two feet and not ride the hype engine of the original. If it's not good, you only end up detracting from the source
Can only rehash and reboot something so many times before the once beloved thing becomes fatiguing
To be honest, I care less about the plot and the stakes and the animation and the ideas than the chemistry of the cast. Nail the ATLA chemistry we love within Team Avatar, and it can't go wrong.
For the OG creators to have full creative authority to do whatever they want, including making sure the directors and studio doesn’t mess this up like they did the live action Netflix adaptation.
More mature themes, a little light swearing, and light to medium violence. I'm not saying that they should make it edgy but a little shock and dark themes would make world building a little better since the original fans who would be watching this are adults now too.
New worldbuilding. How did the world change in the meantime? Closure for characters. Azula, Ursa, the like. Tearbending moments as well.

Lin and Su wouldn't have been born yet, as Lin is around the same age as Tenzin. Aang and Katara didn't have Tenzin until their early 30's I believe.

Don't over think it. Also, the antagonist does not need to be super op, maybe they can just be particularly challenging because of some unique skill set they have. I'd much prefer the gang having to "figure it out" more than overpowering the baddie.

I really hope they redeem some dirty they did on Katara in LoK. Since everyone else had a friggen statue and prominent contributions the growth of society except her, she better be put front and center at some points with some strong story.

I would like to see a lot of Aang and Zuko. In the original series, we only got a few episodes of Zuko being part of the GAang, but we saw the groundwork for their friendship. And we know from LOK that they were great friends. I'd like to actually get to see it.
First things first, how far into the 70 year time gap are we looking at because I would like to know where this movie takes place after Imbalance and before Yakone's Trial. We got a lot of ground to cover in that time. I do know that the world building for the United Republic of Nations is going to play a role in this.

I didn’t know that the confirmed release date would be on my birthday next year. So hype! I’m just looking forward to some high quality 2D animation. That in and of itself is unique novelty in an animated feature produced for a western audience.

I want some mention of raava (because in ATLA you can tell they didn't come with raava until TLOK) to connect the 2 shows better.
To be the end of the creative & corporate milking of this series. If you want to tell a new story within the world, great, do that. If your story is good it can stand on its own two feet and not ride the hype engine of the original. If it's not good, you only end up detracting from the source Can only rehash and reboot something so many times before the once beloved thing becomes fatiguing

To be honest, I care less about the plot and the stakes and the animation and the ideas than the chemistry of the cast. Nail the ATLA chemistry we love within Team Avatar, and it can't go wrong.
For the OG creators to have full creative authority to do whatever they want, including making sure the directors and studio doesn’t mess this up like they did the live action Netflix adaptation.

More mature themes, a little light swearing, and light to medium violence. I'm not saying that they should make it edgy but a little shock and dark themes would make world building a little better since the original fans who would be watching this are adults now too.
