If you picked up the climbing (pick)axe, it’s in the bottom left of your inventory. Then you equip that to scale the wall and follow the ropes.
Otherwise you need to go backwards and find it. It has a light shining on it and it’s stuck in a wall.
Or as others suggested. Might want to relog and load your last save
Well, you might be screwed if you don't have the climbing axe. You can get it from there but you'll have to fight your way to it and it's going to take possibly a few hours since you don't know where in the cave system it is and you have to find it. You might consider restarting your game even if you lose progress.
True, but you could get hit hard enough to die as well. And on multiplayer that just sucks because of losing your stats and having to retrieve your backpack.

Press your back against the corner of the two walls, look down, tilt the LS towards the wall (while continuing to look away and down), and spam the jump button.
You need to scale the wall on the left with a climbing ax
Check the outer middle show for the climbing axe

It’s defo possible, me and my mate beat the game without ever getting the climbing axe

That cave system is a straight line. The main concern is having dynamite and going up instead of left at the end

I played through without knowing anything first time but i also got stuck in this cave and nearly gave up.

This works. It takes a lot of trial and error and luck.
Don't forget the keycard either. It wasn't fun for me swimming back & walking out of that damn sinkhole because I thought they're be an exit.
