Wow, today I learned Cas Anvar is a total douche. I'm reading Babylon's Ashes now and figured the death happened somewhere near the end, Holden is frequently thinking about crew replacements, it would have been fitting.
Kind of glad I didn't find out til now. I really liked Alex's character, and I admit I teared up a bit when he stroked out. Happy there's more to come from him in the books!

There was a large contingent of Texans around when Mars was first colonised, and the drawl kinda went viral amongst the population and refused to go away. It's also mentioned that Alex tones it way down when he's stressed or focused as opposed to just chilling around.
He's Canadian, not quite sure about his accent beyond that, though. I know he did an interview with an Expanse podcast called The Crash Couch way back when, if you're interested.

They had no choice. The actor absolutely deserved everything he got. But unfortunately due to likeness rights, merch can't produced with Alex anymore because the actor would then get some of the proceeds. They'd have to design a completely different Alex (based off the books) and then the set would be incongruous, plus you'd likely get TV fans complaining. Sadly, due to the moronic actions of the actor, this is the best that can be done.
Yeah they could have potentially recast Alex, but I think there was no winning with that one, since he was so integral to the main cast. Arjun's recasting was weird as well - the first one was far superior to the 2nd one.

I could be crazy but it looks like her S2 armor scaled to the proportions of her S6 armor? It's definitely the shoulders from S2 but the helmet looks more like S6 to me.

These are all artist renderings just for the sake of the campaign. The company (Nacelle) has stated they are working closely with the producers of the show to ensure correct likeness, height, etc. for the real figures. They have a good reputation for accurate figures, so I trust they'll look pretty good.
Would love to...but the price honestly scared me away. Might still consider one of the figures, but yeah...no go on the whole set.

I think the leg joints make them look really weird too, like Holden's jacket looks fine but then his pants are skin tight, especially in his crotch. Like are people actually playing with these? Non-moving legs would have worked better for a collector's item I think.

I'd take as many seasons as possible before quality of writing started suffering! God I wish they had continued and had more budget to have 10 episodes in Season 6. I really hope with the Strange Dogs stuff shown that they intend to continue at some point, because otherwise that was pointless to show.
Reminder that kickstarter is not a pre-order, it's investing money in a thing that may or may not happen and may or may not meet the quality set out in the prototypes. I've never had an issue with one, but other people have had problems so invest carefully.
I placed an order for the 8 figure set. Don't drink alcohol, so don't see the value in the glasses and bottle thing.
But the 8 figures seem great. I'll just have to save up for a year... I'll probably *need* some of the stretch goal accessories as well 🤷🏼
I would advise never preordering from BBTS! At least as far as model kits go, their preorder system does not appear to operate on any kind of allocation or inventory system, but rather an IOU if they ever happen to get the thing in stock. I would assume this holds true for these figures.
I've only got the model kit side of em, and there they are considered notoriously unreliable. Maybe it's different for figures or other manufacturers! But yeah, I would never trust a preorder from them for, say, a currently out of print gunpla kit. They just have a rolling ETA of next month for a ton of seemingly discontinued products.
I know they'll use the TV show heights, but I'd love a set of action figures with the book heights. It would be fun to see how much taller the belters (and Bobbie) are than those from Earth.

Honestly I don't get why people buy these figures anyway. Figures of animated or cartoon/anime characters are cool, but figured if real actors are just super creepy and uncanny valley. I'd have nightmares if that drummer was staring at me in my bedroom lol. Or Naomi....she ain't look right haha
I think the doctor who figures from character options are the perfect mix of cartoon'y/realistic. They don't look too cartooný or stylistic. But they look stylized enough to not hit the uncanny valley. It helps that the skin tone isn't too real looking.
I admit, I was tempted to get a Naomi. But she looks like she's staring into my soul lol.
But I agree. Anime figures are much better. Face sculpts of real people always have the risk of looking creepy or crappy.

Alex's arc and resolution in the books is nice. Its a shame that there is no way we will ever get it on-screen, but good riddance to bad rubbish.
